I’ve been a Nash main for 20 years fam.
God help us. Heavy_Mental is going to make all the Mika’s ACTUALLY get some legit tech and setups. (More 50/50s than they already have).
I think the time has come to talk about Nash nerfs. his frame data is fine as is, I think he just needs a slight damage nerf.
Hi guys, Gief player here. I’m looking for strong Nash players to train with (5000ish LP preferred). This is one of my hardest matchups and would appreciate the training. Add me CFN is Mesenkomaha, PSN is the same. Thanks!
His damage is average at best, and he’s already weak at everything that matters in sf5 (walk speed, 3 frame jab, reversal) just wait for Infil to try someone else at least.
Top characters make “pretty good” players a threat, like Chun and Mika are. Definitely not Nash.
Hello everyone,
I mained Vega for the entirety of SFV, but so want to make the switch to Nash. What should I learn first? And what are his weaknesses, strengths, compared to Vega. I like the idea of controlling the pace of the match with a projectile and having the ability to rushdown at the drop of a hat.
What normals should I get used to doing? And how tough is Nash to play at a high level?
Well, let me say this. I don’t think Nash has any really hard execution things. The hardest is probably doing b. mk -> lp. tragedy assault consistently, but that’s not even really necessary to do. The hardest part of Nash’s game is the fact that he has no invincible reversal and no 3-frame jab, which makes his wakeup game bad. He doesn’t even have any moves (other than v-trigger) that are invincible after a frame or have armor, so his wakeup game goes from bad to worse. But since you main Vega, you already know how to deal with bad wakeup. Other things Nash has going against him are a bad walk speed, and lowish health/stun.
What Nash has going for him are terrific normals, good damage output, and what I think is a pretty amazing V-trigger (get out of jail + combo-lengthener + mixup tool).
If you want to get good with Nash, I think these are the first things to do:
- Learn his anti-airs. He has a decent AA game, but you have to know when to use j. throw, jump back hp, f. lk, cr. mp, b. mk, mk, hk, and EX: flash kick. They all have different uses.
- Get very used to the range of his normals. They are your best tool. Learn all of them. Your best pokes are cr. mk, f. mk, f. hk, f.hp. Learn everything about these moves especially.
After that, it’s the same as every other character. Learn the bnbs, frame traps, meaties, gimmicks, etc.
Thank you very much. It seems he’s heavily based on mobility and utilizing his dash too. Do you feel he has a pretty strong rushdown and mixup game?
I wouldn’t say his mixup game is necessarily amazing, you have the same baseline options as the rest of the cast but not really the walk speed to tie everything together, but his rushdown does feel really strong, looping meaties off knockdown setups is really simple to do, and when you get fluid enough with dashing in and out of your optimal ranges it can make people really afraid to do anything between booms/dash-in poke or throw and moonsaults. I think its fair to say he has solid rushdown but not really a sick mixup game fundamentally.
Nash doesn’t need a nerf jus rush him down. I feel Nash can win as long as he controls the pace of the match.
Nash’s VReversal and VTrigger have got to be some of the cheapest moves in the game. Even Infil says he plays Nash because he enjoys cheap characters. Enjoy your get outta jail free cards while they last. You’ll eventually have to resort to skill once they get nerfed.
Everyone wants a game full of strong characters until he/she plays against one. Nash is fine.
Oh pls, we all know Nash isn’t the cheapest character in the game. If he were, Tokido would be playing him.
Edit: nevermind, got a good answer over at the Bison forums, back to the grind to figure this matchup out.
Nash’s glasses are actually fake. Was talked about in the story thread, translated from one of his alpha bios
A fresh short style haircut (crew-cut), wearing a personal high caliber bullet proof vest. He’ll occasionally wear a pair of social glasses to present himself as astute, probably because of the past time he spent at the University studying biology. He wears a military style watch around his wrist, as well as dog tags (identification tags) around his neck which indicate he’s in active military service.
Basically nash is a hipster
I just comboed a SB into Tragedy Assault juggle lol
Nash mains defending that Nash is fine is quite ridiculous. The character is overpowered no matter what you say. Most representation in the ladder and most wins at tournaments.
Almost everything he has is broken as hell. Forward and back dash, command normals, super, fireball, V-trigger and v-reversal also while having very good normals.
The only thing he lacks is a true reversal, which is not needed anyways.
You can enjoy playing the chracter but you must be realistic and assume that Nash is overpowered and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he gets nerfed soon (becouse he deserves it)

I play Ryu, Ken, Rashid, Nash and Guile.
500+ games with each of these characters and I think Nash is fine the way he is.

There is only 6 Nash in the top 100 for tournament players. There is actually only 1 in top 10, infiltration with #1. There are 9 Cammy, 10 Ken, 11 Ryu, and 13 Chuns. Nash is hardly winning most tournaments. Actually unless you are NuckleDu or Infiltration most Nashs wont take tournament, judging by the current point spread.
It’s just that Infiltration’s nash is blowing up everyone.
Sorry, Nash brothers. I’m likely going to be mainly playing Ibuki as soon as she’s out.
