Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm for PS3 trailer and details/impressions

The demo is up on PSN, GO GET IT!

Yes! You can hear the voices in either English or Japanese!

:woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:

It was a hell of a lot of fun. Only Naruto and Kakashi are available in the demo but Naruto has Sakura and Sasuke as assists while Kakashi has Guy as an assist.

So on the stage where you fight you can walk on a lake and fight on the side of a mountain. :wow:

Kakashi has a pretty cool super where he forms two Chidoris, one in each hand and when he hits you there’s like a big ass lightning bolt that can be seen in the distance.

Naruto has some cool moves. I did his Uzumaki Barrage and there’s a move where he makes a bunch of Shadow Clones and they pile on top of your opponent. Then the Narutos form a chain (like he did to Sasuke during the Sasuke Retrival arc) and slam the opponent to the ground. You have to press a button multiple times to finish the Super, I think you have to press either X or Triangle a lot otherwise Kakashi will escape right before the Shadow Clones jump him and Naruto will look like a goofball. Oh, and taking down Kakashi with a Rasengan Super Art to win the match felt hella good. :nunchuck:

BTW you can’t use an arcade stick in this game, at all because the analog moves the character and the D Pad is for items your character can use, controller only.

Graphics look great! My only regret is that there’s no online play rats… I guess I’ll just play DBZ Burst Limit for online since they are kind of similar. But still…

Ah well still looking forward to this game. :wgrin:

WHAT assassination missions?!. Actually, Naruto would be the shit if it weren’t so kid-friendly, and they really DID get sent on assassination missions, instead of this “guard him/her”, “find this” “clean up some dog dookie” shit. If only they stepped away from the kid humor, and brought it somewhere around the level of Samurai Champloo, violence-wise.

looks shallow

i played the demo, its pretty awsome

Everybody download the demo. Finally a non-2D game that does not blow ‘behind’.
I am very overwhelmed, I generally don’t like 3D games unless they play like this. My expectation is that this community will look over this title, but every member of shoryuken should at least download the demo.
PS3 dragonball is SHITE so I expected the the same kind of.
this is totally opposite of SHITE. awesome.

I downloaded the demo, it’s fun, but very repetitive. Assist system is very cool. I’d buy it if you know I had more than the AI to play with.

Edit: this game look preetttyyyyyyy lol…It looks like if 2 people knew what they were doing and went at it 100% then all sorts of chaos would be going on. I wanna see how this game develops later on.

See if I could have one wish in this world that involves Naruto, it would be to have just 1 Naruto fighting series. One that was designed by the Gekitou Ninja Taisen team and then put together by the Ultimate Ninja team. I don’t know why it’s so hard to have a Naruto game that plays like an actual fighter on a Sony platform. Seems damn near impossible especially when it seems the Gekitou series seems to be exclusive for Nintendo branded platforms only.

Pity.

I played this at PAX last weekend. The game is a lot of fun. I entered a tournament to win a PS3 (I got second ) but I played it for about 5 or 6 hours total, and it never got boring.

The game play is amazingly fast, and there is a lot of strategy. You can call your assist anytime, even when attacking or being comboed, so you can decide to save them in case you get hit, use them to cover you while you charge chakra, pin down the opponent while you close distance, or extend a combo. They have a slight recharge time, which is good because they are powerful, but you can call them infinitely.

The only thing I really didn’t like about the game was the button presses on the ultimite attacks. If you land an ultimate attack, you go into a button pressing sequence in which you need to press more buttons then your opponent. I wouldn’t mind it if the rest of the game weren’t so great and if ultimate attacks didn’t do 1/3 to half damage. It basically reduces a great game about speed, mind games, spacing and strategy into a button pressing mini-game once you try to use a special attack.

more gameplay:

After playing the demo I must say that it was rather amusing but when it comes down to most anime games they just aren’t deep enough to keep me going after a week of playing. Would it be too much to ask for a anime based game such as naruto to be more of an actual fighting game instead of something a 5 year old can kick ass at?

You shouldn’t be playing anime games then. And there are plently of actual fighting games for animes like BDS and HnK.

Its actully a sweet game i can see the MAJOR possibillities in tournements

NO ASSIST! lol

no assist, no chakra, otk naruto and curse seal 2 sasuke only, final destination!

NO ITEMS!

I have to admit I chuckled a little at how fast infinites were discovered in the demo.

Infinites were always easy to find.
