This is what I think when I play NA2. The “community” says that assists are broken and should not be used in gameplay. Some even go as far as to remove the trigger buttons. That is just stupid as hell. I play a fighting game using everything that is available to ya. When I do get UNS2 that is exactly what I’ll do, use everything available to me. If ya don’t like it, move on.
Yeah, because rushing someone down who has full chakra and supports is a clever strategy in this game.

I did have to RTSD a Itachi player yesterday, who tried to awaken though. Only worked because he was fucking terrible.
What’s KnJ?
Someone let me borrow this game. Seems sick, but I have no fucking clue what’s happening half the time. If I wanna learn to play, do I really need to waste my time with story mode, or is there an online wiki/community source out there?
KnJ is the substitution or “teleport” technique in Naruto games.
Story will help you get used to the controls, that’s it. If you really wanna learn how to play, read the posts here or play against people on here. Don’t put too much into it though… Half the strategies in this game aren’t viable anyway.
That’s what I told the fools at my college. In a game where nothing is safe and supposedly puppet masters have the advantage, why would you want to disable additional means of attack?
My friend said that having assist makes the overpowered characters more powerful. That’s why they (ppl at my college) don’t play with them.
Still, since when did people decide who deserves to win or not to win in online fighting game matches? Is there an official list of guidelines to follow when playing this game competitively?

Honestly you can play NA2 with assists, but the assists are not balanced within themselves. For example the Kabuto assist in that video is only available to Orochimaru, and because of how strong it is, the assist is more important the character. It turns into “how do I not lose to this unblockable assist.” And all that can be done is never be on the ground when he can press R1. There are Brazilian match videos using assists in fact, but they dropped them as well because it dumbs down the level of the game people were used to from NH3 & NA1.
HR is really making me sad to be a Naruto fan :shake:. It’s a good thing I hardly go there.
The fighting mechanic in this game definitely needs renovation, especially with the chakra use. Sure the jutsus use about 1/3 of the chakra bar, but recharging it is so fast the chakra drain is completely irrelevant. I really hate it when people spam with Sage Naruto “>_<”

Yeah that shit is by far the most broken awakening. I’ve mentioned it before, but it’s really fucking dumb how you get a full free bar of chakra when you’re awakening is available. That’s why I pay no attention to people who say “just kill him before he awakens noob!” GTFO with that shit. Once he gets that full bar he needs like a half second charge at most to awaken. You better hoped that you hella counter-picked him by having the right assists and jutsu because otherwise you getting raped (not to mention that Susanoo is completely invuln to kunai). Also there are far too many ways for someone to safely charge chakra in this game.

Ah the life of a Pain player. Every time I land a team ultimate everyone always quits on Pain’s part. It’s funny that I always get that disconnect message when they’re just about to be thrown into the air to recieve the blades form heaven.
For some reason, I always keep forgetting that you get your chakra back whenever your health gets low enough. And the Itachis who weren’t afraid to Awaken that I faced so far were manageable, the matches that I lost to Susano’o were due to stupid mistakes on my part. But I do agree that counter picking Itachi’s Awakening with the right supports plays a huge role.
And is it just me, or is the number of turbo users increasing. Just last night I faced around 6 of them in PLAYER MATCHES. After the first few rounds, I would body them so badly and then all of sudden in the next few rounds, they would KnJ everything I would throw at them. This wouldn’t be a problem if they just braindead KnJ’d shuriken tosses but they were actually smart with it… in a bad way. It became even more obvios that they used turbo controllers when they KnJ’d out of the classic Strike Back > Ougi combo almost all of the time. <_<
BTW, I made someone ragequit while using Karin today. I felt really accomplished. TSUNDERE POWAH!
I’ve seen that video more than once. Honestly, more often than not, this is the only reason why assists are not used. It’s like some guys in the community said, “OMG this assist is hard to escape and is broken, lets ban that shit, because its retarded.” It is like if I said that the Focus Attack in SFIV games is to good, it needs to be banned. It is a mechanic that is party of the game. If you don’t it, then move on to another game.
Unfortunately that’s the difference between theory and reality. Sure in David Sirlin playtowin logic, getting rid of assists is the scrub move. However, take into account that NA2, without assists, is the EXACT SAME GAME as NA1, mechanics wise. Instead of moving on to the new game + assists, folks would’ve just gone back to NA1. And in a niche community, where more than 20 people is a fantastic tournament turnout, that’s pretty much a nail in the coffin.
Additionally, you cannot compare assists in NA2 to focus attack in SF4, because the mechanics affect the game in totally different ways. NA2 assists are not in anyway a completed subsystem. You can call assists while in hitstun & while in block stun, use unblockable assists while attacking, and there is essentially no limit on how often you can call an assist, since the meter refills fast enough that it’s non-existent. Throw in the fact that some characters have very powerful character specific assists, and that the majority of the characters in the game have no access to that. How is it that Jiraiya has NO special assists with any other character? No special assist/jutsu/super with anyone at all in the entire game. The fact that Tenten is the only character with Neji’s kaiten as an assist becomes FAR more important than how good she is compared to other characters, because the assist dominates the game. Matches are lost at the character select screen because of a character relationship.
If you want to play with assists in your home, nobody is stopping you, or even telling you not to. However, at the level our community was playing at, assists essentially ruined the game. There is a reason why communities in America, England, France, Brazil & the Philippines all banned assists.
The last 3 narutimate releases (UNS1, NA3, UNS2) have been pretty awful fighting games, so everyone moved on to other games, and guess what? The community died. Sure we still play & upload matches in NY, but for the most part NA2 is dead, like any 3 year old anime game would be.
So apparently, according to the Hokage’s Room people, playing to win is considered cheap… smh, I’m done with that place. :shake:
Haha this game has by far the worst online community I have ever come across. It’s basically scrubtopia, and the mechanics of the game piss me off less than the community does. Recently I have decided to search for the advanced players option when I play online to see what these people are doing and it’s fucking ridiculous. This is the kind of shit I encounter in 99.9% of all matches with highly ranked people:

They all use top tier characters the likes of Kiba, Sasori, Shikamaru, SM Naruto, Itachi, ect. This isn’t really a problem since people can pick who they like but the attitude that comes with it is what gets on my nerves.

They will beat you but if you manage to find them again in the lobby, they run away.

Or they will glady fight you and get wins but as soon as they sense they are going to lose it’s ragequitting time.

You spend all match getting past their spam and ass tactics (GATSUGA GATSUGA, RASENGAN, IMADA, IMADA DERP) only to have them quit on you when you’re about to win. I’ve picked up the habit of calling them bitches when they disconnect on me and then THEY have the audacity to call me cheap and a lamer. Fucking LOL.
I’ve only come across 2 Hero level players that would play me no matter what. Win or lose, just keep getting the good games in. Imagine the SF community if people like Daigo and co ragequit whenever they were about to lose, and then had the front to complain about it. :shake:
