What would Itachi have to gain by fighting Jiraiya?
Jaraiya was standing in front of Itachis Flash frying eyes. Itachi didn’t want to kill Konoha nins. There’s NOTHING that says Jaraiya couldn’t have been
flash fried or Tsukiyomi right there besides the fact that Itachi never killed anyone BUT his clan in the entire manga and people during war in favor of Konoha (assumed) Remember he loved Konoha, if he Merc’d Jaraiya right there he’d have to Merc a lot more Konoha nins.

Lets be real, if genjutsu was so godlike, why didn’t Madara try it on the 4th? He didn’t even pretend like it was an option. Why did the 1st beat Madara if genjutsu is the end all be all. I’m not debating how good Itachi was, hell I’m in the Itachi > Pein group…however I don’t think Itachi had the 4th for free. Less we forget we are talking a guy that can ‘instnatly’ murk anyone. Hell, he fuggin SONNED the SHIT out of Madara…who Itachi worked for. If Itachi was that gdlk - he would have simply sonned Akatsuki instead of joining. He wouldn’t have come to MAdara for help against his clans men. Itachi is easily top three thus far…but the display we just got from the fourth, along with him being matched up against a sharrigan user, should key you into their being more than genjutu, and the effectiveness of it on fast moving targets. IF genjutsu really was just that damn strong, then everyone of value from all countries would be a genjutsu user, yet here we are with not a single Kage from Konoha or any other village being a genjutsu user. The same way we saw Sasuke break Tsokamu what ever…whats to prevent another nin of high level from doing the same thing? It wasn’t purely because of eyes, as Sasuke’s eyes were not ‘the same’.

Prove to himself and the world that he can go one on one with the great one. Or at least a stalemate. J-Man just wanted to clear up any confusion of theory fighting against Itachi.
Which was what we were going on until like a year or more ago when we found out that itachi was working with Jiraiya from inside Akatsuki, well before they saw him that day. So itatachi would have wanted to avoid that fight, BECAUSE THEY WERE ON THE SAME SIDE.
Sasuke is good enough at genjutsu that he whored another primary Genjutsu user in seconds + he has the sharingan.
Yknow “C” who at least caused Sasuke to be prone for a second from his very own Genjutsu leaving him open to attack.
Now if Itachi Genjutsu lasts a split second and can bend you percieved time. Technically he can not only Genjutsu you and
make time seem longer but also genjutsu you and make time seem LONGER. So imagine you think you’re genjutsu’d for
2 seconds but you’ve actually been under it for 10 days in real life.
Plenty of time to Merc you. (Yes I know I just speculated but the Sasuke thing still stands)
P.S. I’m not even an itachi fan, but I do hate Mary Sue fans. Aka Minato fans who make Madaras PIS an excuse to
make what Minato did seem godlike. Even the sealing of his summon seal whatever was dumb. Cool you stabbed me and
explain to the readers while getting stabbed. THEN stand here instead of phasing and narrate the sealing right after. It’s
like Madara. I’m not saying Minato isn’t a great character but basing that off of Madara is stupid because Madara had the single
worse showing ever there. Zabuza and Haku could probably have Merc’d Madara there.
Yo, I had to stop lurking to come in on this. The only way I could see Itachi taking down Pain is if he knew the secret, and even then, it would be just barely.
Without that key knowledge, Itachi loses just like everyone else-- You think there’s only one or two of the ninjas, and then BAM! There’s six swirly-eyed bastards rushing you down–one of whom can revive the ones you actually manage to take out… You just can’t beat that without some serious Batman-level prep time.
Man, after this last chapter, I am thoroughly convinced that Pain should have been the end-boss…
He could summon, eat your ninjutsu, blast you from long-range Sentinel-style, steal your soul, push you away/pull you in, and to top it all off, cast a Phoenix Down if you were somehow lucky enough to down one of them… Plus, the real weak point isn’t even THERE…
No one should have been able to beat Pain… NO ONE.

what if… Minato has been in a genjutsu ever since he threw that kunai between Madara’s eyes… just sayin 
edit imho Pein would have been more dangerous without the puppets just using 4 shadow clones and psychic wifi jutsu. His Xavier puppeteers X-men act needed work.
His power was reduced after the fight with the first. We haven’t seen Madara use Genjutsu at all. There’s no reason to believe that Madara still has the ability or had it at that time.
Why are we overlooking the fact that Naruto beat Pain?!? Its as if you people are scouring your memory of the fact.
Sure Naruto beat pain, after pain got done fighting the whole village, Naruto had mad intel, and started rampaging out of control. All while being the main character who will surpass everyone likely before the comic is done.
You make it sound like losing to Naruto/village is a bad thing. Need I point to naruto being pinned to the ground while Deva chats it up?
Because Nalto only beat him because of J-Man intel/friend-no-jutsu/voluntary suicide. Nobody’s debating his feat because we all know that without ‘main character must win’ plot assistance, there was no way Pain was going to lose.
I really wanted to see Six Sage Mode Narutos going toe-to-toe with the Six Paths… shit would have been cash.
What we did get wasn’t so bad, however. It was nice to see Naruto henge’ing all those clones into rocks and pummeling the shit out of Tendou Pain :rock:
So, Itachi would have spammed Genjutsu on Raikage and won? Since nothing can beat it.
Naruto had two resets and a nine-tails assist in the Pain fight. Yeah he took out five Pains but he had to do tons of shit to get there. He was beat but plot armor is infallible.
