Namco Stick Appreciation!

@noober2‌

You could use a zero delay ps2/ps3/pc encoder. You’ll have to solder if you’re using the original micro switches, you’ll also have to solder to use the start/select/L1/L2 buttons.

Thanks, but I’m horrible at soldering, I somehow got worse at it so I’m just going to have someone else do it for me.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but here is a pinout of the Namco’s PSX pcb, in case you do not have a multimeter.

Signals are labeled. You can get ground from any adjacent contact to a signal.

I made it for myself (6) months ago, for quick reference. Hope it helps.

This was exactly what I was looking for, cept a few days too late. I messed up and used too much solder on the directional contacts.

Anyway thanks I’ll save it

Happy New Years!

Disclaimer: I have another Namco fully stock that I use with an inpin adapter and eTokki adapter for last gen
But I wanted to continue using the namco stick for PS4, so my older stick with mods and sixaxis+shinjin adapter became the PS4 project and had this new since purchase at Target and still have the box.

-4 original grey/yellow buttons for L1/L2/Select/Start have been replaced with a ps1 pa’s fave buttons shaved down to fit. That 4-button pcb waa destroyed in 2007 so a plexo for.the button mounts waa made and wont be functional unless I buu some tact switches for it.
-3 1&1/8"/30mm holes on the back/front side with cord were made for PSHome/Option/Share
-Hori Hayabusa mounted, did not use mounting plate to save some height restrictions. Added an Aluminum bat top and for me Ithas improved my accuracy with the way I hold it opposed to a balltop. I tried a new 2lb spring and it’s def. not for me, went back to oem spring.
-Hori Kuro buttons all around
-Hori FC4 used for pcb(sad to sacrifice such a good pad, used it for 30min just to appreciate it)
-Yoga mat glued on base, original feet and sticker glued on Yoga mat to keep it Namco

Reviving an old thread here!
Happened to find two of these for a reasonable price yesterday, not sure if I’ll get both seeing as one of them appears to have been painted all red -.-
However! Most fighting games that I play these days are 360 or PC and I’m looking for a way to hook this old gem up.

I think I’ve been able to pin it down to these two options:

  • Buying a xtokki 360 adapter, seeing as this is supposed to be lag free and work on both PC and 360. The only problem however, is that the shipping costs almost as much as the unit…
  • Getting a PS360+ and installing that. The good thing about the PS360 is that a person close by sells them, and I’ll get them at a decent price. This may also get it to work on PS4 right? The bad thing is that I don’t want to drill a hole for the USB cable and “wreck” the stick.

What would you guys have done?

  1. Plug the B end of your USB cable into your PS360+'s USB port. Feed the cable though the old cables opening on the Namco stick.
  2. ???
  3. Profit

Keep in mind if you want to use the PS360+ on the PS4, you have to deal with 8 minuet time outs.
You can also pad hack a PS4 fight pad and feed it’s USB cable out.

I would keep the namco’s stock pcb intact and buy this adapter

I bought this one after someone reviewed it in the converter thread a couple years back. The adapter is 100% plug n play. No lag, great alternative to the pricy xtokki although the case construction is not nearly as good. I use it regularly with my Namco and my ps2 hrap.

That looks great!
Do you know the actual name of that converter? Not that I don’t trust you, but I would like to see more opinions on it!

I can’t seem to find a name for the adapter, the best way to find it is on ebay “ps2 to 360 adapter” This beautiful man’s (or woman?) post inspired me to buy one. Post can be found in the Converter compatibility thread page 35.

Glad to see this thread is still somewhat alive.

I’ve seen a Namco for sale in my area, but can’t buy it for another 13 days (payday).

Assuming I do get it, what’s the best PSX->Dreamcast converter?

In my opinion the Total Control Plus - PS2 to Dreamcast adapter is pretty good. http://www.amazon.com/Total-Control-Plus-Dreamcast-adapter-PC/dp/B008ELD23O
I used sticks and digital d-pads on the adapter before. Specialized controllers like light guns and some steering wheels don’t work that well.

Watch out for the VMU socket, its board mounted so a strong enough jolt while the DC memory card in place can break the socket.

here is a review
http://www.ign.com/articles/1999/11/06/total-control-psx-to-dreamcast-adapter

Yes you just read conflicting reports about the VMU socket, older versions lack the VMU port. The version IGN reviewed lacks the port.

Exactly what happened to me. Can these be fixed? Or rather, can one of you guys fix it? Guess I should ask when I have five more posts, a month from now.

Also I don’t think they recognize those 4x memory cards. Have to use an actual VMU.

Depends on the damage.

I’m back and I finally finished my Real Arcade Namco-SE which was originally a Namco stick revival project. Has Seimitsu stick and buttons

I just bought one of these sticks on eBay yesterday for 42 bucks shipped. Planning on using it for my old PS2 games and I also stumbled upon the Brook PS2 to PS4 adapter. MONEY! Been out of the game for awhile but I can’t wait for Street Fighter 5. Can’t wait for this Stick to ship so I can see what kind of condition its in.

The microswitches are easy enough to replace if need be.
