1001st reply goes to me!
Top one is completely stock, but I had to really clean it up when it came in so I took it completely apart and put it back together again. The bottom is my wireless 360 stick, and it has a JLF with a Hori-shaft.

Nice Mini now u need more namcoās from Japan again.
Hahaha, I think Iām done for nowā¦
How do you guys find Namcos on Japanese auctions? Can you read Japanese?
You donāt need to read Japanese, you just need to get a Japanese girlfriend. This shouldnāt be too hard as long as youāre a foreigner and donāt look too Asian, although you will probably need to travel to Japan at least once. Once youāve got yourself a Japanese girlfriend, you need to get her to fill out an official Gaijin Shopper registration form. Donāt worry, this isnāt like marriage, it just registers you as an official Japanese girlfriend-haver in Japan and lets you buy Japanese goods. DO make sure she is actually female or this wonāt work. If it takes her more than a couple weeks to get the registration, she is probably really a man and just stringing you along; youāll waste time and need to start all over with another girl.
Equipped with your registration number, you will be able to order sticks from Yahoo! Japan Auctions (use Google Translate), but they will have to deliver the items to your girlfriendās residence where a police officer will inspect the items and your registration form. Then she will be allowed to ship the joysticks to you in the US at double the normal shipping rate (āGaijin shopping taxā).
oh man iāve been doing it wrong this entire time
very nice! iām really trying to figure out a way to wireless dual mod one. iām not thinking iāll be able too though, there simply isnāt enough room
I finished modding my Namco last night. Nothing fancy, just 6x OBSF-30 Yellow buttons, and a Yellow meshball on the stock stick.
Not a fan of the clicky buttons.
This mod was considerably easier than my first Namco mod⦠of course I was learning to solder on that one!

i think that would fit
iām guessing both pads use the same battery pack? if so, that should definitely fit!
Hello,
After seeing the prices for Horiās Real Arcade Pro 3 and Pro 3-SA sticks for PS3 ($90 and $120, respectively), Iām considering building my own. Iāve got an old Namco stick that Iād like to mod to use with my PS3 and PC. I was hoping someone here could give me pointers or tell me where I could find tutorials for the procedure.
Lizard Lick sells a solder-free Toodles Cthulu PS3/PC board, which would be ideal for me since I donāt trust my soldering abilities. Has anyone tried this board? Here are the games Iād use the stick for: on the PC, Street Fighter 4; on the PS3, Soul Calibur 4, Virtua Fighter 5, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, SF2 HD and BlazBlue. Does a new board require a new stick and buttons, kind of like a new motherboard on a computer often requires new RAM etc. ? I have no qualms about getting a new stick and buttons, but I am worried about the size of the new parts compared to the Namco casing. Iām considering a Sanwa stick with an octogonal restrictor plate, although the Happ sticksā cheaper prices are very appealing. Again, Iād appreciate any pointers from those of you who have already performed such an operation.

As you can see from the picture, my palms have rubbed away the original grey paint in spots. Iād love to re-paint the case and basically restore the stick with a shiny new look. What type of paint would you recommend? Sorry for all the noob questions; this is not my area of expertise, but Iād like to learn. Thanks in advance,
Didier
Replacing the buttons will require desoldering the buttons from the PCB, as would taking the top metal plate off to sand/repaint.
If your only goal is to use the Namco on the PS3/PC, itād be easier/cheaper to just pick up a PS2 -> PS3 converter.
Another thing to think about is youād be losing PS1/PS2 playability by removing the stock PCB and putting a Cthulhu instead.
Check the stickies in Tech Talk, the essentials thread has a link on the first post of how to mod the Namco stick.
Thanks, Kazujiro. Backward-compatibility doesnāt matter for me since I no longer have any PS1 or PS2 games. The adapter route is a good suggestion. Iām using one to connect a Pelican Universal Arcade Stick to my PC. I thought Iād try something different for the Namco, though.
I finally got my hands on a Hori Tekken 3 Stick. Anyone have mod tutorials for this particular stick, or is it kinda similiar to the Namco-stick? I want to put in a Sanwa JLF and dark hai-buttons.
Same for any Arcade Stick from Hori, except HRAP.
i wouldnāt mind getting my hands on a tekken 4 stick.
thank you for arranging these in one post
Zeetes, thanks a bunch for sharing the links. Iām beginning to wonder if Iāve bitten off more than I can chew. By the time I add up the cost for all the parts, the paint, the time it will take, etc. ā¦, I could probably just buy a Hori Real Arcade Pro 3, maybe even the SA version.
