my replacement microswitches came in on friday, installed them 15 mins later. Switches worked like a charm. the stick feels like it’s brand new. the switches have to be pushed in less for them to click and register. before I’d have to push the stick about 3-5 mm in a direction for the actuator to touch the plunger and another 5 mm for it to click. now I barely have to push the stick for the actuator to touch the plunger and even less for it to click. I’m going to guess in all I have to move the stick a total of like 8 mm for it to register a movement. speaking of clicks, the the clicking sound is even different, it’s slightly quieter than the stock microswitches.
I wish I took side by side picetures of the old and new switches. there’s a couple changes that were made to them.
the first being the little hole on the underside of the switch that lines up to a little bulge on the namco stick restrictor plate. on the original switches the bulge slides in and out of the microswitch without any effort. on the new ones you gotta jam the microswitch into the bulge till it snaps in place and is held firm in place.
the other is the pin plunger is like a a couple hair lines taller so that’s why it take less effort for the actuator to touch the pin plunger.
Aside from those 2 changes which don’t effect the stick much, I’d recommend these to anyone who wants to replace their microswitches on their namco sticks.
What is it about the stick and buttons that make it so superior/preferred to a Sanwa/Seimitsu custom? I get that it is super low profile. Is the spring harder than a JLF?
I myself like the LS-56 level of resistance, and the firmness of Seimitsu buttons. How do Namco’s feel compare?
I’m a person who likes sticks heavy, thats why I bought one of NHTrans Fully Metal Sticks. I figure the Namco isn’t for me, but I’m still curious how it handles.
the stick mimics jlf in design but feels like a lot more like a seimitsu. has a lot to do with it’s stiffer spring and the shorter shaft. the buttons are a lot more like seimitsu than sanwa in design, but mimic sanwa for their sensitivity. both the stick and buttons use high quality microswitches which helps tremendously.
