Was going to enter SFxT at Evo before the announcement, decided to just drop the game instead.
I find 2v2 more fun but it wont really be about raw skill I rather it be a 1v2 option,I mean I am pretty sure anyone can get a team mate but they rather be solo
My thoughts is that since the game was accepted before its release now its been revealed to be 2v2. I honestly think Capcom paid to have the game be a part of EVO and specified that it needed to be 2v2 to show off features and sell more games.
The game became 2v2 because without it the game is just garbage. Making it 2v2 doesn’t make it less garbage, it just adds some fun to the whole tournament. There has not been a team tourney at Evo for some years now. Since 3s was last at Evo. I honestly think that the tourney being a team tourney will hinder the number of entrants that will be entering this game at Evo. Who knows though, this is just my opinion.

If I cared about playing this particular game competitively, this decision would have infuriated me and likely pushed me away from participating. I’m flying in by myself from the middle of nowhere, AL. I don’t have any local sparring partners, and even if I did, the odds of any of them also making the trip out to Vegas would be slim to none.
This was a decision made for logistical and entertainment purposes only. It’s terrible for competition.
nigga who cares this game sucks
Like, favorite, buy you a drink, tell you you look nice, paypal you $50, have an in with Asa Akira and use it to tell her you’re a cool guy, hug, kiss on the cheek.
as if this game wasnt a big enough joke, evo made it 2v2. lol
2v2 is the best, most fun thing about this game.
Give 2v2 a shot because that’s probably the future of this game competively. And knock of all “This game is trash lol” because SF4 and MvC3 got the same treatment, and they are doing pretty well on the competitive scene. How someone can be into those games and crap on this one is beyond me.
Making it 2v2 was upsetting to me, but I think it’s where the natural progression of the game lies. Cross Assault is useless unless you have a partner to control the other character, plus the 2v2 aspect of the game adds more depth in that you’re dealing with two styles and mentalities instead of just one.
Yeah it’s true that if you pair with someone who doesn’t understand you, or isn’t as good as you, you’re going to be carrying dead weight, but that’s part of the allure I think-- figure out which of the two players is weaker, draw him out, and kill that character instead. In this game if you don’t both know each other well enough, some stupid decisions will be made and you’re both going to be salty as hell. So definitely make sure you think you’re pairing with someone you respect or you’re wasting your money.
I don’t have anyone I can practice with locally, so 2v2 effectively killed my interest in playing SFxT. I’d prefer to practice with my partner live if I was going to play.
2v2 killed it for me as well.
If my partner doesn’t show up, can I still play by myself?
I’m not asking if I can play both characters, because that would obviously be unfiar to my opponents… I mean that I will play my first character, and basically have a 2nd controller on an empty chair for the 2nd character. Which also means I can’t switch cancel, and if I boost into launch, or tag-super, the 2nd character runs in and nobody is controlling him, which is a free kill for my opponents.
Is this allowed?

I believe the official rule is that you can play by yourself, but if you ever bring in the partner, you give your opponent the game.
That is correct.
