I caught up on the anime today.
At this rate it’s my favorite anime after Yu Yu Hakusho. This shit is SOOO good.
I’ll probably start collecting the manga. How long does the current season go on for?
There’s a week break and then an extra ~13 episodes I think, pretty much the length of an entire normal anime season.
when did they stop doin 26 episodes for animes? used to be that was a season now its shorter…kinda matches up with what alot of scifi american shows are doin
25 episodes for this current season. We’ve got 12 left, but keep in mind that there’s no episode this coming Saturday (July 1st). Hopefully they announce a third season during S2’s finale. All of my favourite moments/arcs would be covered by a third season.
Couple years back, part of it I think is lack of source material due to so many anime being based off of light novels but I also figure the main reason is just budgets have ballooned that 12-13 (sometimes less) is all some companies will try to do for any one property besides popular or long beloved properties.
I think MHA is one of the first really popular SJ shows that have had a decent number of chapters to go for a seasonal approach instead of just animating until you reach the manga or splicing in filler, which at least animation quality for the most part is working in their favor.
It helps that MHA has quick, concise arcs that lend itself well to seasons.
Also it isn’t the first. Actually the first was right before it, Shokugeki no Soma also goes for this approach.
i remember when they would literally jump from season 1 to season 2 with no breaks. i always thought that was wild but its japan…work ethic is wild there.
I lost 100 kilos with this one weird quirk.

How have you finished with season 2? its getting 25 episodes, and we are only on episode 13…
Im on episode 8 of season 2… ah i didnt know there will be more episodes in the season.
It is some significant distance, but a big turning point for the series is already on the way in the anime so definitely enjoy the ride and if you can’t wait for the inevitable season three afterward pick up the manga.

The fact that Pinky (I sort of do prefer Alien Queen in retrospect) not only went to school with Kirishima but was completely more heroic is a twist I wasn’t expecting but glad to see as it develops two characters at once.
