That Florida tournament had LESS players than ours, so that was not it.

There were several smaller tournaments instead of one huge tekken tournament, that’s all that happened. You had to decide between san antonio’s T5 (didn’t have a whole lot like 10 I think), socal t6 2v2, Guard Ya Grill which had less players but still 20ish and mwc. You could consider Socal and GYG majors at least since the place they were hosted on have major tekken competitors.
OK and look I don’t play smash and I don’t want to get involved in any of that bullshit but you can blame some people not showing up for smash on the rules.
Also we got more people for tekken then the thousand dollar tournament in FL, yep. Probably would have got a couple more in if they didn’t have to pay 30 dollars for one tournament. That seems kind of rediculous but on the other hand it was an Evo qualifier.
Anyway, as a suggestion, I think next year instead of having a registration and individual entry, just increase the amount that you have to pay to get into each tournament, or balance out the registration and tournament entry fees a little differently. Because a lot of Tekken players, including many that did not show up, don’t play 2d games on a tournament level. There were a lot of people who were there who just said fuck it, and didn’t enter Tekken because they didn’t enter anything else and didn’t feel like paying 30 dollars for one game.

Syxx; I can understand them not wanting to pay $30 for it being their only tournament, but it was posted months in advance, so there really was no surprise about that, meaning, it’s their own fault for not reading/paying attention.
Other problem is the venue fee to close out a party room for 3 days is not cheap. It’s the same thing as renting a hotel ballroom cept we already have the arcade machines there. It’s standard and we’ve actually been at $20 cover for 3 years running. Last year we had 70+ for Tekken with the same cover charge and it was also on a Sunday…
