MvC3: You are Defeated: The Magneto Combo Thread

I finally got around to testing this last night. Tags work differently depending on corner or midscreen.

Corner:
Up or Down tags - magneto will come on the same side as your previous character, addf hyper grav
Left/Right tag - magneto will come on the opposite side (from the corner), from the other side addf or add hyper grav

Midscreen:
Down tag - same side
Up tag - opposite side
Left/Right tag - not 100% sure, but I think it was the same side

I’m trying to do the unfly in magneto’s bnb. It goes like this :l:,:m:,:h:,:s:, sj :h:, addf :h:, sj back :h:, adf :m:,:h:, fly, :l:,:h:, adf :h: (3 to 5 times), addf :h:, unfly, :qcb::l: light hyper grav. I look at my inputs and sometimes it unflies when I do :d:,:db:,:s::b:??? I can’t tell when I should input the unfly. Is it after the addf :h: of at the same time it hits? Sometimes I think I do it too fast and get the light hyper grav. Can you just input :s: to unfly since you’re so low to the ground?

Anybody know what combos are and are not possible in UMvC3?

jk, couldnt resist. Yeah I’m curious too, since virtually every combo 'neto does involves repeated air dashes. I wonder if the speed change will alter how his combos are done entirely. I imagine, after launch, you can still get hits after sjH xx adf, but I wonder if even the basic Fly loops are too slow to keep them up. I don’t (read: can’t) really do the Powder Slap or any of the fancy shit, but it would appear those combos are in jeopardy. One thing I’m really curious about is if the pull version of the push/pull move might be usable in combos. That would be pretty sick if he gets new loops based on asking the opponent where he thinks he’s going.

Mags vs Task in the corner. The variations on the loop were:
(Hyper grav) > Super jump xx air dash > j.:h:, j.:s:
and
(Hyper grav) > Super jump (a bit higher than normal) xx air dash > j.:m: xx :l: Blast

Grav, sj xx adf MH, land sH xx grav also works.

yeah, but that’s standard stuff… I had never seen those two variations before. Only new regular, the dash MH one and the 3 Hs one.

Also, does anyone know how his little diamond after exchange goes? I mean the sweet ass combo Marlin does after (i think) side exchange.

I need help with Mag fly loop. I have the timing down to get the flight to connect but i am only able to get only 1 air h. Any suggestion on my connecting the dash h. Is it a timing or a mashing thing? do i plink?

Okay so I’m praticing the magneto unfly addf :h:, unfly, :h:, light hyper grav but so far I’m getting more confused. I had it consistently once then lost it. I think I’m getting Heavy hyper grav because I’m trying to input the unfly motion manually. I end up getting :d::db::s::b: :h::qcb::l:. I sometimes unfly with this input but sometimes I get hyper grav. I can’t tell the heavy from the light hyper grav. I think i’m getting addf :h: into heavy hyper grav? Is it possible that inputting the unfly motion manually is screwing me up? I tried this without the initial loop sj:h:, addf :h:, sj:h: addf :m:,:h:. Can someone please help because i’m getting more confused.

If you’re getting :h: hyper grav, you’re doing :h: too fast after unflying.

Echo, the combo is: :s: > j.:h: xx adf > :l::h: xx fly :h: :h: etc— (with some possible variations on the setup before fly)

You can’t do H xx adf > H fly > H

After months of trying I finally give up on trying to do ROM, I’m unable to do it. Magneto is too hard for me :frowning:

don’t bother, Mags can’t do it in Ultimate anyways

I was so pissed that after countless hours in training learning how to do it that they took that combo away from him… I’m really curious on which midscreen combos will work for him after the air dash nerf and the extra knock-back that they added to his air H

c.:l::m::h::s: j.:h: adf j.:h: xxfly :l::h: adf :h: adf :h: adf :h: adf :h: adf :h::s: doesn’t work anymore outside of the corner [which is retarded].

However, the TeamChaos videos showed us that c.:l::m::h::s: j.:h: adf j.:m: xxfly :l::h: adf :h: adf :h: adf :h: adf :h: adf :h::s: seems to work perfectly fine from fullscreen.

Looks like they wanted him to be like Doom in the combo department.

Doom gets about 600k damage mid screen but in the corner he can go nuts with his footdive loop

Mags in Ultimate can get prob 600k mid-screen but looks like he can do some of his old loops in the corner for more damage

Thanks for addressing my question I think. I got it the part of the unfly combo down right after posting it. The combo i was trying to do was :l:,:m:,:h:,:s:, sj :h:, addf :h:, sj back :h:, adf :m:,:h:, fly, :l:,:h:, adf :h: (3 to 5 times), addf :h:, unfly, :qcb::l: light hyper grav. I was unknowingly inputting the light hyper grav too early. The timing to get the unfly is late but after doing it a while it can be done much faster. I found that mashing the standing H and using that to hit confirm into light hyper grav made doing the combo consistent. I just wanted to try different variations of Mag’s bnb. I will probably keep it simple.

I still don’t understand but If mash S instead of unfly, then I can go straight into standing H since Mag is so low to the ground. I posted something about this earlier but was not sure. I guess I know this because when I try to do unfly my inputs read :d::db::s::b:. So is it possible to do addf :h: piano that with :s: but piano it slowly? I guess it might do an exchange.

Has anyone tested something like c. LMHS j H addf H, (j H adf MH) x3 in Ultimate? I saw someone do just one loop on that recently posted eventhubs vid, if that day 1 combo is still in it’d be nice as it’s super reliable and doesn’t do much less damage than other midscreen combos.

Geez, based on player 2 in that vid, it appears they removed the “blocking” mechanic in Ultimate.
