not impressed with the gong assist as i thought i was going to be

did that hold down after pressing for a return trip ever get confirmed/disconfirmed? If so that’ll make it better.

yeah, if you can make it go both ways, that’s a much better assist.

edit: yeha, htere’s an all capcom assists vid floating around now.

If the whole make it go both ways thing was fake then I may have to switch back to Chun or possibly Ammy :frowning:

The assists don’t look impressive I was thinking I could easily throw her on a a team. Now she looks like a point char which of course there is less room for on team and it takes her down a notch not having those great assists.

Oddly enough it looks like gong assist may be better against rushdown than zoning. Covers both sides of you more or less, also should prevent attempts at assist lockdown while it’s out.

Super-armored pendulum seems like it would be the better assist against zoning. Use it from close enough, hits them out of their projectile or whatever, and she’s unpunishable afterward.

Both times Hsien-ko threw a stun item, she threw Chun’s bracelet beforehand. Can’t tell from just that, but I hope it’s still possible to predict. Also, if I remember correctly from the trailers, Yashichi wasn’t a stun item.

It doesn’t seem like she will need a lot of assist support in the neutral game on point, so I’m guessing Hsien-ko will want a good combo-extender assist due to the way scaling works. Hsien-ko has a few multi-hit attacks, which raises the scaling pretty quick, so my guess is the combos to look for will involve one of the following:

-finding a way to combo from Chireitou, and using Chireitou early in the combo
-chain single-hit normals and cancel to gong, use a non-knockdown extender assist (hadoken, soul fist, bandit boulder) to link gong to a long range normal -> sweep-> launcher

her assist aren’t as badass as I was hoping for. The swing doesn’t seem to cross up (not going back and forth) and her gong assist pretty much goes no where. Looks like it’ll be used for just a short reflect?

Don’t get me wrong that swing still looks useful for extending combos and anti air and rushdown support but I was hoping it could cross up (maybe it does tho?) Her last assist actually looks pretty neat seeing the stun item

She’s looking like a point character to me. I’m wondering how she’ll fit into my team. I mean I’m using Felcia,Hsien and Shehulk

I think the gong will still be useful in getting in on projectile characters, it just wont be as brainless as people originally thought it would be. I think the pendulum might have some interesting applications but i cant picture any of the top of my head.

lol you guys are acting like you wanted the gong to cover half the damn screen and fly 3/4 across the stage -_-

if it didn’t cover much ground when she was a point character why would it be any better as an assist? and even then it’s still useful for loccdown in corners and to help pressure against keep away teams, c’mon folks use your imagination…

IF ANYTHING, TREAT THE GONG ASSIST AS YOU WOULD TREAT TRON’S PROJECTILE ASSIST FROM MVC2, that’s how i would look at it :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m really disappointed by her gong range, and no swing back on pendulum. On the switch side I wonder if she can extend a combo if she hits you with that stun item.

Guys her assist are still good, you all just overhyped yourselves unreasonably.

There’s still no confirmation about that report of holding assist on pendulum assist to have it go back. If it’s in then people should be happy.

I can see simple mix ups with pendulum assist like jump over them then IAD back with some characters while Pendulum assist is out.

If what was reported earlier in this thread is true about needing to hold the assist button after she’s out it’s entirely possible that the person creating the video didn’t know about it. Secondly even if it did go back and forth it wouldn’t crossup. You only have to block the point character not the assist.

Yes treat a high damage short range combo extender EXACTLY AS YOU WOULD TREAT something that’s anti projectile by using it within a range that no one would be dumb enough to throw projectiles anyway. DO EXACTLY THAT!

This X a bunch. Seriously, gong assist looks like it will be good. It protects you, it messes with projectiles somewhat, and its range isn’t completely trash unless you use it from the opposite side of the screen. What were people expecting, the be-all end-all of anti-projectile solutions?
