MvC3: "She only resembles your mother" The Trish Thread

The biggest thing to hurt her is that Strider Vajira assist is in the game, IMO.

Is there any reason to use 2H instead of 5H in combos concidering how much easier it is to combo using 5H?

2H is good if you’re looking for a reliable hit confirm into XFC.

I believe 2H adds more Hit-stun deterioration than 5H though.

Yes, that is what I’ve come to notice at least.

I just want to know, how do you fight trish. Because only person I could fight her with was M.O.D.O.K and Dormammu in Vanilla and now all I have is strange. Any possible way for rushdown/close combat characters? (especially Haggar and Iron Fist but general help would be appreciated.)

I say you need to beat Trish in whatever game she wants to play. If she plays lame, you have to outlame her so she can rushdown your lame. If she rushes you down, then you need to be on the offensive first against her so the momentum won’t go in her favor early on. But with Haggar and Iron Fist, they need assists to help them get in otherwise Haggar is forced to wavedash on the ground and watch Trish throw traps and fly to the other side or literally pipe your way in hoping for a hit (either clean or block) to pin her down for a moment. The good thing about both characters are that once they catch or touch her, she’s can die.

Strider’s Vajira assist is Trish’s worst enemy because it eliminates most of her runaway game (or at least respect that the assist is there.). Doom missiles does somewhat the same but isn’t as good as Vajira (have to respect the missile call while in the air or flying, forced to block or risk getting out of the way to avoid missiles.)

Haggar and Iron Fist need at least an assist to pin her down from her air movement and another assist to keep her locked down for their pressure and mixup once their in.

Anything against the divekick? General advice?

uh…I dunno there. It’s not a fun situation and your best answer is to not get into that situation. As simple as it sounds, it’s not easy to really do. I still don’t have much of an answer against it when I do play against Trish outside of staying out of range. Iron Fist might be able to use 5B against it but then she might just call an assist if she didn’t super jump.

Kinda hard to say what to do against a move that’s +12 on hit and block.

One good tip is to just whiff punish it on landing, only tricky thing is she can probably cancel the move into a special. Most Trish’s commit to the divekick anyway, so wait to punish the landing frames, just like bait 'em to divekick, then backdash immediately and punish w/ your best whiff punisher.

You can X Factor cancel and punish a blocked dive kick. Even X factor level 1 is going to surely kill Trish. In my experience most people who are playing her are playing a team built around her, so taking her out quickly is going to really throw a wrench in their gameplan which to me equals X Factor well spent.

Any move that beats it out.

i don’t know
well i kind of agree but don’t at the same time, a lot of trish teams have wesker in the back because of his otg assist so i don’t know if burning x factor just to kill her is worth it, i mean if you can’t deal with trish/the opponent with any of your characters then by all means xfactor her but i would try other ways around it first just because you don’t really learn how to deal with it that way you just avoid having to deal with it but that may also stop them from doing them in the following matches so like i said i agree with it but kind of don’t at the same time lol

Good point. Though if you know your opponent, you should be playing to them and not to their character. If the team is set up around Trish’s huge amount of bullshit, spending your X Factor to waste her could make the team fall apart. If she’s being played on point but isn’t particularly the player’s best character than save X Factor. I agree with what you’re saying, but someone having Wesker in the back shouldn’t automatically trigger a player to think “Oh shit, Wesker…gota save my X Factor.” This is probably more for the tier thread, but Wesker is really only as powerful as we allow him to be.

Look at it this way:

can this team perform a round harvest unblockable?

is there anyone else that’s an actual threat in this team?

just use judgement. My best character in my team is Trish. But I still play a good Frank and Ammy. Killing Trish in my team if anything, just stops Frank from leveling up (if he hasn’t already.) Even then, you still have to worry about Frank possibly leveling up and then Ammy in the back chillin not being bothered. Most people don’t even see ammy and when she does come out, they have no clue how to fight her. Usually if I lose with Ammy, it’s due to fucking up on my end and the opponent capitalized on it.

So really it’s just a matter of analyzing teams and who you think could be a possible threat.

I’ve been having this slump as of late, and After having my team properly wrecked by Something Unique and his team of (Dante,Trish, and Morrigan), I’m looking to re evaluate my Trish game, in recent days I just haven’t been feeling confident in the Match-ups I’ve been in I feel like anything strider based makes me free, and I’m not really confident in Trish versus Ryu, As Trish on point what exactly are the tells or holes I need to be looking out for in terms of Punishment (for Strider particularly, and Dante)? I can always get hyper punishes but that only takes me so far.

Strider assist is definitely hard to deal with no matter what character you are using. But alot of people just spam it out without thinking. so try and bait it. then when you hear the assist, dash back just as he is about to hit and punish with air max voltage. I have a team of Viper/Doom/Strider as my side team. and I play against a Wesker/Magneto/Dante guy often and he gets around it by entering flight and air dashing alot until he sees it is gone. Im sure Trish can do the same thing

Same thing you would do against Wolvie’s dive kick. Generally it isn’t a good idea to challenge it because it’s fast and has a decent hit box. You can X-factor guard cancel it if you’re desperate to kill her. Otherwise your best bet is to whiff punish it. Try to avoid blocking it cause she has a lot of frame advantage on it.
