ok So i have the game. and no Web ball doesn’t hit OTG. Right now other than A x B x C x S sj. A x Bx C xx Webswing.

After the web swing he can do an A B C again, but Its hard to connect. Hitstun scaling kicks in after that so I’m trying to either go into Ult. Web throw or another webswing to cancel into MS

Spiderman is really good. He can combo into his web zip and attack on the way up and on the way down into c. c sweep, b web swing etc. The options are endless instead of doing sweep he can just land and do standing B launch or spidersting OTG MAX Spider.

So far the worse special he has is probably his web ball. It doesnt combo very well especially in the air and the opponent recovers way too fast from A and B web ball to be able to react and follow up with a combo. You usually end up eating a reversal or the opponent just blocks.

His Web Throw is actually really good when you use it intelligently and comes in handy on people that like to super jump or on chars that fly. He can also catch people dashing in and the recovery is almost instant so its pretty safe on block unless its right in there face which is obviously not a smart time to use webswing. Under pressure its very smart to advance guard and follow up with A web throw to stop anyone trying to close the gap and break their momentum. If you read your opponent well you can you B or C depending on their location. Damage is “OK” and obviously better with Xfactor in which case Peter becomes a monster/wrecking ball.

Im currently working on a loop on big characters using his webzip because its so dam good in combos atm.

I have to say im really excited about this version of spiderman very very quick and strong for his size and hp.

Its actually not very difficult at all. You simply have to use B web swing and if you want mash the combo after and he connects. Currently A B C after web swing is a waste. Instead do WS B,B,C Jump B,B,C, B WS Max Spider. The reset only works if the opponent techs but doesnt move or goes back. IF the tech forward you miss UWT and they fall behind you.

Find a 100% damage reset with UWT to get people hyped for Spidey as they’re for Thor.

Also, I’m not sure if it’s been answered before, but how’s his spider sting assist? Does it hit twice? Comparable to Ryu’s and Morrigan SRK at all?

Not very useful at all. Only 1 hit does not have inviciblity on startup to get people off you. So far web ball is his best assist IMO.

Firstly thanks so much for the info! Secondly did you try and use assists between web ball strings to chain stuff together? I dunno, A,B,C xx Web ball, Chun legs assist, dash, A,B,C maybe?

That’s heartbreaking news! I was hoping Spider Sting assist would be good so badly. It looks slower than the other dp assists too! Why Capcom why!?

When you say attack on the way up here do you mean combo, webzip upwards and combo?

Unfortunately I didn’t get to play as much as I wanted.

All I can say is his two main tools are most definitely Webzip and Maximum Spider. Webball is just way too slow on point but as an assist it’s quite useful. MAX, on the other hand, is really quick. You can punish plenty of stuff with it and it’s also extremely easy to combo into. I was having some trouble with web swing because the sticks were quite crappy but that also seems pretty good.

Overall he’s got really high mobility and some decent combos. I fear he won’t be great until someone finds out something because as of now I don’t think he’s “broken” enough to be a fantastic character. I’ll wait and see.

Yes I can confirm this myself, web ball is most definitely the assist to go with. The web trap lasts longer than you would expect. With Chun on point I could web trap them and either dash forward - combo (if close enough) or straight up hoyouku sen (her kick combo hyper which launches in the air). I assume it’ll be useful for lots of other on point characters as well.

Chun/Spidey seem to compliment each other well which is good because I quite like both of them :smiley:

How is Web Swing on Assist? Any good for mixups/lockdown?

i have to agree with the others so far, web ball is his best assist. as a point man, i do kind of hate that you really cant combo webball from magic series anymore, its too slow in the air. from what im seeing so far, i dont know if its my problem executing on this xbox pad or what, but i dont think spiderman can do 2 WS in the same air combo, if anyone can prove me wrong, plz do. I also hate that fact that web swing is a dragon punch motion now, wtf? lol.

It takes a while to come out. I don’t see it as being very useful but I might be wrong.

Trust me when I say Web Ball is by far his best assist and it’s REALLY good. A free combo every time it hits.

Yes the DP motion for web swing completely put me off, it’ll take some getting used to.

Web ball in the air is suicide IMO. Unless you’re vs someone particularly slow you’ll get punished for it because spidey stays in the air for a LONG time after it’s shot. It’s definitely NOT a zoning tool in the slightest. Don’t use it as a laser or a hadouken because you will get fucked up for it… lol

However it’s OK as a punisher for trigger happy zoners (MODOK, Arthur). The problem with them is you will most likely be too far to actually get them in time before the web trap breaks. Might be possible with a web zip but honestly I haven’t tried.

The one special you should be using in the air is web swing, it finishes off combos nicely, extremely easy to hit confirm off of and cancels into pretty much everything. Mobility is key with spidey. Mastering web swing and especially web zip will be the most important factors IMO.

I agree with this, its the new web ball of yester year. web ball now takes a back seat for web swing. cause just like web ball in mvc2, you can combo into web swing and be safe since you can pretty much follow it up with anything, even off the ground. i was kind of dissapointed to see how slow web ball is now, it was such a great zoning tool back in the day, now its all about the web zip, which is very deadly, spiderman is straight up in your face type of guy, and this helps him stay that way. also nice for cross up set ups using assist. i also like the fact that assists are somewhat delayed in thier apparence after you hit the button instead of instant like mvc2, helps make cross ups that much deadlier and easier to time IMO.

Can someone explain to me how exactly web zip works? Does it count as a special that you can cancel from normals? Can you double dash, web zip? Can you only zip once per jump? Is it useful to continue combos? Can you use it to go through the opponent (cross him up)? Does it resemble a triangle jump at all?

Also, how is Spidey’s mixup going in the offense? Considering he lacks a ground command grab, I hope his high/low/crossup game is solid. Can he combo after throw?

Lastly, how do you guys feel about him not having an OTG? What assists do people have in mind for this (out of the top of my mind I know of Deadpool, Wesker and maybe X-23?)

web zip is any atk+D (exchange or special button, whatever you wanna call it)

it seems to be a special, as you can cancel it out of normals
what it does exactly is shoot web at a spot directly over their head, and then spidey pulls himself in and you can attack as you are flying through the air.
one of the trials is:

standing ABC, web zip, j.ABC land cr. C etc…

from my testing, it’s definitely put to better use when you are close, as it allows for really quick triple overhead/low attempts. from far away, it is really tough to land the air hits, as the momentum sends you flying way over their head.

60% Spidey day 1 combo.

so, you could kfc the crawler assault into maximun spider/another crawler assault for a 100% combo ?

SPIDEY ULTIMATE THROW Reset! TVC? YES Please!! Its kinda hard the way I do it. But you can do a way shorter combo and still get it to work.

It stops Nuetral and back Air tech, looking for a way to punish forward air tech

Also, yes you can KFC crawler assault into either another crawler assault or a maximum spider.

UWT reset is great to see! Any OTG assist would work in theory which is good.
(Also, love how the first comment on that reset video was “freaking cheap”)
