Dark Hole actually has low projectile priority, it just has a lot of hit points (30 IIRC).

im shocked i didnt get hate mail just now, blew through a entire team with dph spamming fireballs :stuck_out_tongue: so silly

Well, I’ve had my copy since release and I was cautious of expressing my opinion beforehand because I wanted to give MvC3 a fair shot and not judge before playing. Since Tuesday evening, I’ve kinda been flip-flopping on my opinion on it. Overall I think the game is fun, but annoying. LOL I wanted to get my thoughts straight on what my issues with MvC3 because I had been sitting here thinking “okay, it’s fun, it’s addictive, it’s flashy, it’s new, but there’s something that doesn’t sit well with me.”

  1. To answer people’s issue with the game being “easy”, I can get why this is coming up. I don’t really mind the ABCD combos, but the fact that almost all the characters can do the same combos is a bit repetitive; the only differences are their specials/hypers. It does come across more TvC-ish instead of an expansion of a Mahvel title. I don’t mind the button layout, but I liked previous versions where you had to KNOW your character and which of their combos connected – what worked for Ryu wouldn’t always work for CapAm and so forth; in this game they basically took out that factor to say just learn your character’s specials, we’ll take care of combos for you. Also, this is the first Marvel game I can recall where almost (I said almost) EVERYTHING connects…even by accident. How many times have we heard during tourney commentary someone gasping or exclaiming shock “THAT CONNECTED?!” This also answers why some say the game is “cheap.”

  2. My biggest issue (somewhat expanding off #1), is the omission of tech rolls to escape OTG. Something that had concerned me since I started really paying attention to the vids months ago with character reveals and fight parties, is I noticed how easy it is to OTG peeps, I noticed no one was tech rolling. Come to find out, that tech rolls are gone. In earlier Mahvel titles, you could tech roll to escape OTG juggles and traps, if you were actively thinking to do so. This kept the game active and allowed you to escape excess combos and kept your opponent on their toes, right? Now it comes across that a character who’s been knocked down is forced to take a hit and there’s no escape…that, I do have a problem with. Again, answers people’s cry for the game being “cheap” or “easy”.

  3. The “dreaded” X-Factor. While I understand what they were going for, the XF is really causing some problems for some, from what I’ve read over the past few pages. It does make for some interesting comebacks and make the matches more intense, but it kinda nullifies the whole damage scaling thing they were going for with this, especially with my 2 issues above. Okay fine, let’s take out infinite combos, but put in something that allows 100% damage…po-ta-to, po-tah-to. XF was a good idea, but I think the implementation is flawed.

  4. Mmmyeah, that whole air H, or air S into a ground combo timing thing is a lil’ annoying.

  5. Justin is correct, it is very hard to block in this game. In this Mahvel game, you HAVE to utilize advanced guarding, and even that isn’t so affective as we’ve seen with Justin’s Wolverine. Not only that, you can’t even push off assists as they will stay in your face…and even when they’re done, you can’t punish 'em.

I know these are only my opinions, and some will try to write me off as a scrub or n00b or whatnot. Hell, I’m one of the very few who think MvC1 was the most balanced of the Mahvel series. While I do find MvC3 fun to play, I think they took out some strategic elements of the previous games and made it more about rushdowns and raping. I haven’t played online yet as I’m going through Arcade mode just to continue my own training and see endings, but given what I’ve seen of some of the tourneys already and the game has only been out 3 days, I just don’t know. Is this game broken?..a lil’ – still blows my mind that people WANT a broken game because “that’s what makes it Mahvel.” Like I said, the game is fun, addictive, and intense at times, but at times it comes across button mashy, rushdowny, and lacking depth and strategy.

That’s not entirely true. There’s just some attacks that cause hard knockdowns… you quick roll out of soft knockdowns still.

That’s still the case to a large extent. Sure everyone has series launcher series ( but you could do that in MvC2 too… ) but for most of the cast, doing that is very much suboptimal.

Full agree here though, kinda dumb to even bring them up in trials and such when the j.h has to be so deep.

Oh wait… you said you’ve only played arcade mode… SMH.

Unfortunately I have to wait until sometime next month to get a hold of this. As I deal with my blue balls, I’ve got a quick question: Is Launcher invincible on wakeup? It looks like it may have too much start up but I’ve yet to see if it can be done or not on wakeup.

I’ll confess I haven’t played Tatsunoko, but I got that from SRK Wiki. Quote: “However, one system was introduced in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars that borrowed from games from other companies like the Guilty Gear series: Hit Stun Deterioration”

Alright, I’ve been in the lab and…for some reason certain hypers do more damage to Dark Phoenix…while others do the exact same damage. From what I can tell, the cinematic hypers do more damage to her for whatever reason.

Maximum Spider, UWT, Bionic Maneuvers, and Elemental Rage all do more damage while all their other hypers do not.

well, im not sure if UAS has hitstun proration, but im pretty sure that the 1st tvc didnt have the mechanic on it

UAS has hitstun decay like MvC3.

Well after 100 online ranked matches Im 69-31. That’s not too bad of a mark I don’t think.

TVC UAS had hitstun proration, but it wasn’t as bad as MVC3

lol, they why they bragged about the mechanic on mvc3 as if was the most biggest thing after the discovery of america

fucking beautiful :lovin:

I’m in the same boat; around 41-21. I’m an 8th Lord.

Even Sent isn’t immune to assist anemia. Dayum.

I noticed that for every one complaint about this game I see, there’s 2 cool things to make up for it lol.

My win ratio is in the toilet right now (only played like a dozen matches, though). The fact that my stick completely died in my last match doesn’t help. “Hey guise, free win!” loooolno I’m more or less staying out of ranked until I get a handle on my control situation, execution, and… y’know… a team.

maybe to account for the red life she should be losing during the pause phase of the super? Does it happen if she is Xfactored?

It’s probably the characters you’re playing with. Some characters cannot cancel their dash with attack, like Ryu.

However, all characters can cancel their dashes with crouches (from wavedashing). Meaning, even with Ryu, you can wavedash in and go into c.M instead of standing L or M.

I didn’t check if she’s X-Factored.
