yeah you make good points, but TvC:UaS is very well balanced. TvC:GCoH horribly, horribly unbalanced. I think a lot of the first game should just be swept under the carpet and ignored personally. Other than that though the balance is really quite good. Zero is a bit on the strong side but hardly as OP as someone like sentinel in MvC2 for example. Everyone thought Yatterman-2 was going to be broken due to her combo-interrupting robot but she also doesn’t do much damage and has poor health, and needs a lot of meter to keep her offense up.

As for the art style it’s close. I say I prefer TvC’s art style but it’s not like I vastly prefer it over MvC3. The main issue that I have with MvC3’s graphics is that everything is very dark, and the character textures outside of the black shading seem too much like plastic textureless models. In TvC that lack of texture worked, since the anime-esque cel shading was consistent. MvC3’s graphics seem too overdone, too experimental. They should have made it look more like the trailers imo, with full cel shading all the way like a real moving comic book and not a 3D model with comic book effects kind of slapped over.

I love MvC3’s hitsparks and guard sparks but is so damn DARK D: I can hardly see shit on some of the stages. I also greatly prefer the fact that TvC had damage numbers showing up under combos. Made it feel a little less retro and more like a doujin fighter, which made me feel a bit more at home, personally. (I prefer to see those numbers pop up as opposed to watching my opponent’s life bar and making estimates.)

While this was pretty known for a while, this makes Laura even more godlike. Better yet: a great countepick against Jean and Sent after a snapback (like said earlier, people will focus against these two for a while lol)

Wow, that guy made me feel better about getting annoyed with a game. He refers to Akuma’s Tatsu’s as Helicopter Kicks. He burns EX like crazy. Mashes SRK on wakeup all the time. I can’t help but think that Input shortcuts and Ultras have created this kind of gamer.

Reminds me so much of PTX missiles into lv 3 on snapback in TvC. lovely.

and also, to people saying I have a bit of animosity towards MvC3…that’s sort of true. I did at one point, but at the moment I’m more or less happy to embrace MvC3 and support it. I still love TvC though, for being my first -real- affair with the Vs series and I really can’t forget all the fun I had with the TvC community, quiet as it was. And trust me, I used to hate MvC2 for all the wrong reasons. Funny how I’m bandwagoning MvC3 so hard now.

How does that move work? Is it unblockable or something?

While were at it, how many moves are unblockable?

its a grab i believe

The sad thing is that he has a gojillion more BP than I do. :frowning:

It’s not a grab it’s an unblockable hit. There are times when you can’t be grabbed (as you’re coming in after a K.O. for example) but this always hits. Because in Marvel 3 the only design criticism anyone had permission to make was “not bullshit enough”.

How is this move avoided if its an unblockable hit though? Will hit after any character swap? Also seems very useful when someone is flying very high up.

It’s got a hitbox that extends around her body, a bit upwards and a bit outwards. Once she uses it, she gets out of the dirtnap state and returns to normal whether it hits or misses. Some characters may be able to do a super immediately as they tag in and avoid it, but that hasn’t been tested.

I’m pretty sure you can still hit her when she’s in Dirtnap mode, either that or run away and hope she doesn’t chase you down. It’s still a pretty crazy move though, but most lv 3’s are.

It only lasts like five or six seconds. Mostly when you use it people try to run away or keep you out with beam supers or whatever.

Otherwise it’s not easily avoided, it’s just a really powerful move in that sense. Does pretty low damage for a level 3 though.

…I fucking love X-23.

this set of 10 of nerjosh vs marn is pretty sweet

If anyone knows if perhaps enabling Stage Themes is an unlock or something please spread the knowledge.

I can’t take anymore of Deadpool/Dante’s/X-23 themes lol

i was thinking the same thing, who the fuck is that guy, ive never heard of him. and him thinking akuma is garbage is funny as, he should go talk to tokido…

If Akuma is garbage I wonder how terrible Ryu is.

I don’t see that happening but it’s not like I can’t try out other characters. Hopefully there is at least one character I like a lot.

set background music to dynamic.

This is the same argument people used when SF4 came out and it was proven to be untrue. I’m sure I could learn a lot of combos in 20 hours, but I would still have no idea how to play the game. My match up knowledge would be non-existent and I wouldn’t be able to use assists effectively. Top players who have been playing for years will continue to win and it won’t be even marginally close when they face scrubs.

fucking this!!!

If you use simple mode your a bitch… how you feel good about yourself inside picking simple mode and not actually learning the game just makes me sick…
I dont wanna hear maybe they dont have time to learn the game… its been dumbed down from mvc2 alot…
When im playing online and see people pick it then send you a message calling you a scrub…
I hope they ban simple mode from tourneys

wwwwhhhoooaaaaa. simple mode should be for people that will not get into fighting games but just for kicks. like a girl not interested in games at all and she is with a group of people playing MVC3. instead of not playing due to the fear of getting mauled you can put her on simple and let her have fun. then take the training wheels off and put her in training if she gets interested.
