It’s apparent by the overwhelming amount of people uploading combos using KFC and a shit ton of meter and then screaming about all that damage. Really, I would hope it does a shit ton of damage for all the resources used. Hardly any of them were practical, look like flashy ways to end the round if you got it to burn.

See, honestly I loved the giant characters in TvC. I felt it gave TvC something unique that MvC never had. Sure, they -are- a completely different game to play, but that’s something that TvC players have to learn and adapt to as part of being a TvC player.

Marn and Jwong didn’t even try. They took one look at the giants and decided they were crap, even though PTX players like ll.nd and recently Yoshi have been struggling to make the character viable since the game first hit japan. All it takes is for those old school MvC2 players to say one thing and suddenly we get a whole new wave of scrubs popping up saying “Ban the giants!” a long time after we as a community decided the giants were fair and not worthy of a ban. It was really unpleasant and I wish those two would have just stuck to MvC2, honestly. Matches between the old TvC pros were way more interesting and hype than matches after Jwong and Marn jumped aboard.
I remember when half the TvC board fudgin’ CHEERED when ll.nd won a tournament for the first time with CGOH PTX, a character who at the time was widely regarded as trash. That was in my eyes the first ‘curly moustache’ moment of TvC.

MvC2 players have been having those moments for 10 years now. If you all think that’s just going to stop dead, I think you’ve got another thing coming.

Pretty much yeah. Many times in 3S I’d play against a Makoto with SA2, and just body them with Alex. But eventually they’d get out their command grab, SA2 into Juggle, TOD. Then in the next round I just destroyed them and they don’t know anything else but that one combo. The same applies to Yun players too.

I’m just going to put this out there while I’m killing time waiting for Best Buy to open: My new favorite fighter is Real Bout 2. Excellent fighter by the old SNK. It has a magic system, and the combos are pretty easy to pick up and about half the cast can do 40-50% off one combo, the key is landing these combos. There’s a lot more to that game then just those 40-50% combos and I hope the same applies to MVC3.

I didn’t like the changes in motions; at least the animations are well done and the graphics are clear. Too much cheese with the plane shifts, but it’s par for the course with Fatal Fury titles since Real Bout 1.

Edit: Only thing I loved about it, it’s that this was the first game where Geese had a low attack countergrab. PREDICTABOO!

Basically, at the end of the day…are you having fun? I am having fun… am I getting bodied by online sentinels? Yes. But when I get bored of that I go to training mode. I figured out all the crazy stuff and have fun. Honestly this game issss sooooo entertaining!

Some of the S and P power supers are hard to get out (P Powers are really hard to get out online for whatever reason) but I have adjusted. I like the Linesway system it has, it allowed a lot of options and great mixup. I still don’t get why the KOF players never got into it.

Instead of adapting to the game, they tried to make the game adapt to them. Shame, they probably would’ve enjoyed it if they wanted to put in effort. I really wanted to check this game out as well, but it’s on the Wii

I still think TvC is great. It lacks some of MVC3’s content, but it’s a much more methodical and gentleman like game, imo. Systems like Baroque make more sense and seem more flexible than omfgpowerful 1-time X-factor. Some people complain about Megacrash but fail to realise that it’s not just for interrupting combos, but can be used for offense too (lots of creative things have been done with Mega Crash.) the rock-paper-scissors element of air exchanges don’t exist either which is something I always found iffy about MvC3 air exchange. Damage and hitstun scaling in TvC is better too, and while there are still 100% combos they generally take a lot of skill. Seriously, watch any good Doronjo player in action. It’s beautiful. Still though, TvC does have problems. Giant characters scare a lot of players away due to being so different both to play and play against. Advance guard to block out chip damage of supers is also one of the few things I hate about TvC and was glad they fixed in MvC3. There are very few truly unique assists like in MvC3 which is another thing I feel they did a good job at fixing.

MvC3 kind of destroyed any chances of TvC2 ever happening so I hope you guys are happy with your product. >_>

Anyway, it’s not like Marn didn’t adapt to giant characters. He picked Tekkaman Blade (hard counter pick) against PTX and won after having his ass whupped in the first round, but the way he handled it was imo very poor. This is someone who’s supposed to be a leading figure in the competitive scene, and he didn’t even know how to fight against PTX and had to ask questions from the crowd on who to counterpick? Lame as fuck. I think it was incredibly disrespectful for him to jump into the game without even caring to learn about some of it’s most unique matchups, and then later on joke about how he doesn’t play TvC, on live interview. People see that and automatically assume the game is trash because a pro’s words carry a lot of weight, which is bad for a game that already struggles to make a reputation. It was a malicious thing to do and it’s still a travesty that people go around thinking TvC is an easy mode MvC lite game without even knowing the bulk of the more technical stuff, or how fun a lot of the characters are. It may be nice to complain about PTX being OP and all, but anyone who’s actually played him knows just how hard it is to control that thing and deal with bad matchups. Their excuse instead is that Giants are “boring to watch and play against”. fk off.

And yeah, I don’t care who those guys are, or whether or not I compete at that level (which I regrettably don’t and can’t) but I love TvC and was there through it’s evolution from the beginning, supporting the community however I could. I will say what I want.

as a wow player this whole thing reminds me of when they announced 10man raids would have the same loot as 25man raids… man, the outcry of DUMBING DOWN FOR CASUALS was epic

I never got a chance to play TvC outside of conventions and such. Had Capcom released it on a actual gaming console; they would have had my cash first day.

I had the chance to play MvC3 all Friday and from what I played it was very damn fun! It took a little while getting used to since it seemed like almost no super could be properly punished (Outside of Maximum Wesker and Wesker Counter). Maybe my handicap was set wrong by default or something but the matches go by a lot faster than any tag fighter I’ve played outside of Tekken. The only time I saw a time over is during MODOK matches in which my friend would turtle his ass off.

Sure the game is easy but since when it that a bad thing? The more people that aren’t intimidated by a fighter means the more new faces I get to see in the competitive scene and that’s always a plus.

I could care a less what top players think about a fighter. If they don’t like it, that’s all beans in gravy. Hell, that only means I won’t have to go up against them if I ever make it to their level. Hahahaha!

Marn is a questionable player, I think most of everyone can agree with that. Especially when he mashed out Ultra and managed to beat Daigo and talked a lot of shit. Then there’s that video of him stoned and saying how he was in a gang and used to fight black people.

I dont agree with the talking shit part… but what else was he suppose to do in that situation? Daigo was trying to chip him out with a meaty fireball. Horrible decision on Daigo’s part as that was the only thing Marn could do. I would have been buffering that shit too just in case a piss poor fireball was thrown.

Daigo shouldn’t throw meaty fireballs vs Dudley with U1 or get his backdashes read.

That shit talking? That was just the adrenaline talking. You’d brag and talk shit, Marn just does it where everyone can hear it and see it cause he doesn’t give a fuck.

another thing while I’m still in salty mode:

Why do people think that guys like Jwong have to be the top players again? This is a new game and we shouldn’t be surprised if we get a new champion. People with MvC2 skills will have an advantage, yes, but I don’t think it’d be blasphemy if we see some new top players pop up to take the limelight either.

Also Marn, if you’re reading this then go rage about it in an interview or something. Like last time.

all this talk of opinions makes me excited (and kinda scared) to see retards complaining about review scores.

‘the reviewer said it deserves a 9.2 but i think it shouldve only gotten an 8.5, this reviewer is biased and shit’

ive seen comments like that for over 15 years im surprised it still actually happens…

Trag’s new videos:

She Hulk combos look so crazy. Being able to catch techs with her air grab is sick.
Viewtiful Joe’s Slowdown extends hitstun? Craaazy.

It’s just a shame that VJoe can’t combo out of viewtiful handjob slowdown super though :frowning: but it does put him at a huge advantage.

and also honestly, do Trag’s combos look simple or scrubby to anyone? I think they’re awesome regardless of how easy this game is supposed to be. Plenty of interesting variation beyond magic series into magic series.

wow at scrubs calling other people scrubs. mvc3 forums are the worst. anyways, game will be fun, and in its own way oddly competitive, but it sucks from what i see, and i cant wait until tuesday to help prove that even more, but apparently online isnt too good, so i might have to leave nah status to prove points.

floe doesnt like the game at all!
wong thinks its silly
sanford doesnt like it
yipes had choice opinions on it
marn thinks its silly
art doesnt fuck with it

like, just saying. i think theyre more focused on a competitive level on how dumb the fucking game is, but yes it has a fun factor because its new, and there is tons of new shit to find, but overall, its terrible. anyone who has actually played vs games, and or at least mvc2 saw this a LONG time ago, and can see this now without even having had your hands on it yet. the problem with mvc3 will be all the blind people who dont wanna criticize it for whatever stupid fucking reason, and just wanna bounce up and down on its dick in gratitude that we even got mvc3, as if they have nothing else going on in their lives but a continuation of a what was thought to be dead genre of fighting games.

this game is competitively trash, but it seems fun and im looking forward to doing bullshit soon. this game is shit for the same reason i think the sf4 series fucking sucks, its not an evolution. its just slapstick trash. they wouldve been better evolving the tvc system again, and making another 2v2 marvel game instead of this nonsense. when everyone is getting blown up by brain dead shit in a month that you cant do shit about just like battling top msp players, your tone will change. at least msp was bullshit because you had to master it, and it took a lot of hours to get to the level of top msp players. i already know, ten hours into mvc3, even though i have previous vs game experience, im gonna be doing the worst bullshit on day 1. its gonna be so great. have fun trying to block us.

We saw Keits and UltraDavid show all the funky perks of slowdown, like how hard it is to block high then low or low to high because that’s actually slowdowned too. And VJoe has that overhead that doesn’t look like one, not sure if he can combo out of it but in slow the hitstun should be long enough to link something after.
