MvC3 General Discussion: Third Strike

People keep parroting that the game is ass, it’s cheap, it’s 50x worse than the worse fighting game ever; and yes, that it has “no love” and shit like that. And really, it’s all crap. People just love to bitch, whine, and show zero appreciation for what you place in front of them, so long as they can find something it doesn’t do that their whiny self demands this very instant.

Folks keep harping on how it “has no features” when what they really mean, is they’re bored sitting in a lobby watching cards fight. That’s a fair criticism; but the overall game itself has the exact same features as releases like Super SFIV; same modes, same icons and titles to unlock, etc, etc.

I think people can’t tell how much effort was put into the game because they really can’t understand how games are made. They don’t understand it was not the easy or cheap way out, to rebuild 38 characters from scratch - this game doesn’t use ancient sprites far past their expiration date. It was not the easy or cheap way out to put infinite fan service into the music, stages, character intros and outros, animation, and in-battle scripts and lines. It don’t have spectator mode at launch, so that means Capcom spent ten bucks making it and four months… tops. Seriously. Also, it means the people making are monkeys who never made them no fightin’ game before. And it definitely wasn’t tested or balanced by massively experienced players.

This is nothing new; petty people cry over what they don’t have, even if you hand them a sack of gold; the last missing coin will be a tragedy for them.

I almost have to get a laugh at the fact that the new MK coming out will give these sort of people plenty of cheap ammunition to prove how much Capcom suxxoors because it’s got bonus modes. Not to knock MK; in point of fact, I love the demo and will be buying it day 1. I am looking forward to it. But it’s clear the publisher - Warner Brothers - wanted to sink a ton of cash into that game to bring MK back in a huge way. People will still make a big pissy show about dropping “that trash MVC3 that I hate but only played because I go derp”, as if one cannot appreciate the massive amount of core work put into MvC3 alongside MK. Remember, it doesn’t have spectator mode! (lol)

And yup, the (now locked) post on Capcom Unity is precisely an example of the inane morons who consider themselves fighting game experts that are pretty much choking these communities to death.

Sometimes, I wish they’d all actually live up to their bluster, and run off to abandon these “assy cazuel gaymez” instead of making a huge show of hating everything… yet still sticking around to “cry moar” and share their misery.

With everything in the world there are gonna be people who find something wrong with or dislike that thing. Also, I’ve noticed with the internet’s rise in usage people tend to hate things for the sake of hating it or 'cause it’s cool or trending to hate on something.

There’s no excuse. None. It’s a NEW fucking low when Capcom DOES WHAT YOU WANT AND YOU STILL COMPLAIN ABOUT IT. Sent was already looking to be ass once people figured out his tricks unless he had xfactor. Now sent is pretty much a dead duck if you call his assist wrong, and his hitbox makes him FREE up close with IO. But no-- how dare they nerf the character everyone bitched about 3 weeks after most top players got the fuck over him and pretty much figured him out, because they listened to their fans. Capcom should have ignored our incessant pleas for patches to this character-- so we could piss and moan about how we couldn’t cope with it while everyone made adjustments to their game. It’s baffling.

a month and a week in and knee-jerk reactions already, but nothing done about zeros glitch, the only thing that really shouldve been patched?

This actually is logical: they probably only found out about the Zero glitch when whomever put up that video. Everything else probably was already in the works for a while. Taking a fix for the Zero problem now (as opposed to the next patch/iteration) probably would have meant resetting their test pass and pushing things out another three weeks or so.

With all of this shitstorm brewing up, I’m beginning to think that Capcom did this on purpose.

They make Sentinel very good in the beginning to make him used as often as he was in MvC2, and then when the fanbase is essentially (for the most part) split into two groups that use Sentinel or call him overpowered, they pull this troll-move on the game, effectively causing a whole boatload of people to be mad, leading into infinite arguments whether the patch was called for or not.

Meh this patch dint really do anything for me, I was finally blowing up Sentinel’s one on one with my teams and they go and made him easier to kill. Either way I agree, this game wont last long. Just because of the decisions made in its creation. Take what you learned here Capcom, make MvC4 for 2014/5.

That being said, I mean it in a strictly competitive sense. In terms of a fighting game, its the most fun ive had in years. Broken for the sake of being able to make something broken is not how to do it though. Then patching based on consumer complaints gameplay wise and just for glitches ect. never tend to go well.

I have had a blast playing MODOK. It started as a joke, but he is actually quite effective. When I iron out the kinks I may take him very seriously. Can’t believe people are sleeping on him.

yesss… it’s very interesting how with players not being able to rely on x-factor lvl 3 sent to carry their ass to cruddy wins, the game gets more interesting matches… such a puzzling result.

Who are your teammates? Been thinking bout making a modok team but can’t decide on teammates.

So far I have Dante(Jam Session) and Iron Man(Unibeam) for anti-air and projectile duties respectively (*not *final team make-up). Things get scary when somebody gets in MODOK’s face and his options run low - however, I’m beginning to see the logic of some of his normal’s design because of this. His j.:s: and :f:+:h: are huge get out of jail cards with combo potential.

I juggled my brother between three Analyze Cubes, I need to see if that was his error or if they do juggle that way. And I previously thought it would take a while to collect ‘levels of understanding’. It isn’t. It so deliciously isn’t. You can stock 5 or 6 in what I guess would be the closest thing to a rush down MODOK can do.

Rushdown modok is actually pretty good… though more of a trap style gameplay with rushdown elements than true rushdown.

Teammates for modok are hard. Though in particular he wants an assist that either helps with his lockdown or helps get people off of him. I’m sure you can narrow it down yourself from there.

I’ve been here since MvC3 got announced, what was it, about 10 months ago? And thats all I heard from people. "Make it az broke az possible, Capcom!"
Turns out that when the game is broken, everybody starts complaining. Weird stuff.
