ok but who says ever sentinel player is gonna sit on the other side of the screen and spit all day? sentinel can rush down task and morrigan even without an assist

People keep parroting that the game is ass, it’s cheap, it’s 50x worse than the worse fighting game ever; and yes, that it has “no love” and shit like that. And really, it’s all crap. People just love to bitch, whine, and show zero appreciation for what you place in front of them, so long as they can find something it doesn’t do that their whiny self demands this very instant.

Folks keep harping on how it “has no features” when what they really mean, is they’re bored sitting in a lobby watching cards fight. That’s a fair criticism; but the overall game itself has the exact same features as releases like Super SFIV; same modes, same icons and titles to unlock, etc, etc.

I think people can’t tell how much effort was put into the game because they really can’t understand how games are made. They don’t understand it was not the easy or cheap way out, to rebuild 38 characters from scratch - this game doesn’t use ancient sprites far past their expiration date. It was not the easy or cheap way out to put infinite fan service into the music, stages, character intros and outros, animation, and in-battle scripts and lines. It don’t have spectator mode at launch, so that means Capcom spent ten bucks making it and four months… tops. Seriously. Also, it means the people making are monkeys who never made them no fightin’ game before. And it definitely wasn’t tested or balanced by massively experienced players.

This is nothing new; petty people cry over what they don’t have, even if you hand them a sack of gold; the last missing coin will be a tragedy for them.

I almost have to get a laugh at the fact that the new MK coming out will give these sort of people plenty of cheap ammunition to prove how much Capcom suxxoors because it’s got bonus modes. Not to knock MK; in point of fact, I love the demo and will be buying it day 1. I am looking forward to it. But it’s clear the publisher - Warner Brothers - wanted to sink a ton of cash into that game to bring MK back in a huge way. People will still make a big pissy show about dropping “that trash MVC3 that I hate but only played because I go derp”, as if one cannot appreciate the massive amount of core work put into MvC3 alongside MK. Remember, it doesn’t have spectator mode! (lol)

And yup, the (now locked) post on Capcom Unity is precisely an example of the inane morons who consider themselves fighting game experts that are pretty much choking these communities to death.

Sometimes, I wish they’d all actually live up to their bluster, and run off to abandon these “assy cazuel gaymez” instead of making a huge show of hating everything… yet still sticking around to “cry moar” and share their misery.

Sentinel can’t rush down anyone without an assist.

Block, guard cancel, punish. Most Sent. users are so predictable in their attacks, cr.M, S, or Frying Pan.

The thing is that both of those characters have the tools to lame him out as well, especially when paired with an assist such as Jam Session or Tron’s flame assist and if Sentinel doesn’t have an assist to back him up.

As a Morrigan player I can’t tell you how easy it is to run away and lame Sent out all day if he doesn’t have an assist.

Legit question and think about it

Can MvC3 be competitive like SF 2 3 Alpah, MvC, CvSNK? Think about what Capcom just did. They knew what Sentinel could do and then they nerf him because people cried hard enough. Taking this into consideration can this game and any future game from be competitive the same way older games where? Or will it evolve into some WoW shit with constant patches to please morons who don’t like to put in the extra time? Please don’t flame because lets be honest, with this patch its obvious what Capcom is and will keep doing in future fighting games and would like to have a serious discussion about this.

I know, just like the Fighting game community told Youtube ass wipes to deal with it, they are going to swarm on this and tell us to deal with it. And you casual folks can’t understand that the game shouldn’t be designed so you can be entertained when the game is being played by competitive players or for it to be fair while you sit at home on live.

Will the competitive scene be the same if Capcom starts issuing patches for the game when low level players cry hard enough?

yup, the first MvC and CvS were super competitive

I’ve been wondering about the patching process for a while now. I think I remember Gabe Newell was hating on Xbox Live and PSN before because he was pissed at how console patching works. They only allow a certain amount of patches to fix some problems which need to go through some rather drawn out process and eventually if there’s too many patches I heard they need to pay for them. Of course, i don’t know if this is 100% true, since I only know this information secondhand.

If the above statement is true, then I doubt Capcom would be able to keep up with something like a monthly patching process. I believe the sentinel patch must have actually submitted long before anyone actually really getting their hands dirty with the game yet (it’s not just Gabe but I believe there are other interviews with other developers stating how rather drawn out it is to patch through Microsoft. That’s why TF2 on xbox is basically unsupported compared to the pc because they can’t patch it for free). So in other words, the changes must have been planned not being grounded in anything like tournament results or xbox live character usage percentages (that is IF the patching process is as long as I heard).

^

makes sense. But say they patch the game once or twice a year (seems more plausible will keep casuals playing the game and then it could build loyalty = money). What will that mean to the competitive scene? but take Black ops for consideration, patches left and right when the game came out for the stupidest shit.

Gorath dont be an ass hat, you know im refering to MvC 2 and Snk 2 and really popular games in that where played to death by any form of scene.

Sentinel was gonna get nerfed tho’, its really obvious that they basically punted on playtesting and development for the late characters (probably because there’s WAY more money in Smurfs).

The real question was when ><

actually ps3 patching isnt like xbox’s
the way psn works is you can patch w/e pretty much. Xbox patching is a long tedious presses that takes weeks. It’s why Gabe now hates xbox and loves PS3.
Also MvC1 was a broken mess.

this patch is a joke, like mvc3.

a month and a week in and knee-jerk reactions already, but nothing done about zeros glitch, the only thing that really shouldve been patched? so much for “broken is good” and all that other stuff s-kill spewed. might as well just sit back and wait a year before playing, because this game is going to change so much (and not due to natural evolution) that well be forced to play the game capcoms way and not our own

competitive will just adjust to the changes like normal, ala deal with it.

other players will cry no matter what happens.

anyone know what other characters have assists that are like sents (shoot up at an angle)?

thanks.

Flashback to last October >< “Broken is Good!” was always a pr line, and patching was inevitable. Fighting games are like the only genre left that hasn’t had constant updates (and that’s finally changing too)

They made Black Ops in a way that they could just hotfix everything when they want instead of patching it.

If the nerfs continue Il just play shooting games competitively… in all seriousness though if they continue the patches this game with die nuff said

this game will die in 2 years or so regardless capcom should just get started on mvc4 all bullshit aside

Thanks for the clarification.

Well honestly, for what its worth, since constant patching of a fighting game wasn’t really done before, this could be testing grounds to see how it works as it goes along. Since the only way to see how this truly works would be put in practice, maybe people should give it a chance and ride it out. I admit, I think there’s a lot to be discovered, but learning the game as it changes along (I doubt the change would be frequent or on a consistent basis honestly), probably would be interesting for the competitive community. Just to see how players adjust as they go along and where they end up when it’s finally done. I know BBCS2 would be patched in later but that’s more like a huge update, I think it would be interesting to see how the player base adjusts to comparatively smaller increments in changes.

As for whether the patch makes the game better or worse, it’s definitely a YMMV thing.

edit: Just a thought, since Capcom can just easily change something like health values, I guess something like changing x-factor gains wouldn’t be that hard of a task to do. Even though they would need to go to each character and modify each level and test it out, a change like this would receive a rather warmer welcome imo.

I honestly dont see this game living for 2 years even they put every dlc character they could in it honest truth
