Yeah the Washington Post font was really weird.

I’ll probably mess around with AE but only because the local scene is trying to embrace it because they hate getting left righted in MVC3. LOL. Once 3S re releases I’m just playing that and this game. MVC3 is probably the only new fighting game I actually enjoy and actually has cheap shit like the old games I remember so I’ll stick with it. SFIV is too much of just who’s the best of the boring and now they finally decided to make a few characters cheap.

I know we’re getting off subject with this AE talk. But I cant imagine not picking it up, myself.
I just want the chance to use the new chars and see how my old favs feel now.
def looking forward to using Goukens new :dp::lp: and to see how Blanka feels.

But I feel the same way about MVC3, I dont want a SMVC3 but if it has new chars or char tweaks im gonna get it.

EVO doesn’t enforce the versions used in EVO points majors. It’s up to the organiser, and what’s available. There are plenty PS3 tournaments and 360 tournaments. The difference isn’t huge enough that the players placing are disparingly different due to the hardware performance.

they do enforce ps3, actually… eric wanted to run marvel on xbox at winter brawl because of the slowdown and ps3’s 2 frames of usb input lag (which is really noticable in a game like this btw), but he didn’t get the green light.

I was just reading a thread the other day that stated organizers could do so… think it was Keits… but not sure- will try to dig it up.
Didn’t know about that re: Winter Brawl.

The reason EVO standardizes on the PS3 is because we have a large inventory of PS3s, the games are not substantively different between PS3 and XBox360, and switching from PS3 to XBox360 would cause issues in the community, both foreseen and unforeseen (e.g. people who bought the PS3 version of MvC3 to practice for EVO or people who have PS3-only sticks would be in a serious pickle).

Addressing some of your concerns directly:

[]The videos you linked show that the PS3 has 5 frames of input lag (sometimes 6) and the XBox 360 has 5 frames of input lag (sometimes 4). While not identical, it’s close enough that I would not say the PS3 version is “far inferior”
[]The videos you linked also show the PS3 maintaining 60 fps more consistently than the Xbox 360, but again the difference is not strong enough to say the 360 version is “far inferior” either.
[]EVO does not get any money or kickbacks from Sony for using PS3s.
[]EVO does not require that EVO Tournament Series events be run on the PS3. It’s entirely up to the event organizer.
[*]The wireless controllers issue is a problem with both PS3 and 360. Regardless, controllers which sync to the PS3 will be banned at EVO 2011. You will not be allowed to use them.

yeah, heres what happened… the week before winter brawl, eric ran a mvc3 tourney at University Pinball. it was pretty much the entire philly scene’s first time playing marvel on ps3, so the differences were extremely noticible by everybody. eric said that he had more than enough xboxes to run mvc3 at winter brawl, but he needed to clear it through evo to make sure he could since there would be evo points given out. he later told us that he didn’t get clearance to run it on xbox, and he even offered to lend xboxes to them for evo if it meant the format could be changed to xbox (since the claim was that they had a lot of ps3s), but it was still no go.

Hmm, I guess Ponder’s statement has some contradictory statements. Unless we figure out who Eric contacted. This is an issue then, I’d agree.

EDIT: Keits said in the thread that CEO is using 360; EVO points are being given out here as well, and checking the CEO website, this is still true. I’d like to know exactly what’s happened now.
