MvC3 coming soon?

Henaki is the man

The Marvel and Capcom suits might not be

I’m somewhat optimistic though, maybe the high digital sales of MvC2 counted for something and impressed the Marvel guys or whatever. Maybe that’s what even prompted the game into being made

A new COTA-type game would be pretty beastly.

I’d imagine so, although I’m surprised it was that hard of a sell to begin with. MvC2’s success is legendary, even beyond the usual boundaries of the fighting genre. MvC2 on XBLA and PSN’s sales should have been a surprise to exactly no one.

The Prophet speaks the truth.

MVC2 was to see if there was still interest in the game.

When CVS2 drops on XBLA and PSN then we will know that CVS3 is on the horizon. My guess is that they are waiting to see how KOFXIII does.

for all we know capcom wanted to do something, but with how poor KOFXII did, they want to wait a bit more.

Well guaranteed Marvel people in it if it’s real: Juggernaut (Bitch!), Hulk, Spider-man, at least half of the X-Men, Iron Man, War Machine. Thor is, or was in the spotlight for a bit because of Siege. Not sure if he’ll finally make a REAL appearance as more than just an assist. Captain America, but I don’t know which one will actually be in. Green Goblin would be a crazy one to put in, pumpkin bombs flying everywhere and stuff. Ms. Marvel? I’m just going by who was all big between Civil War and now, and who all had movies.

Aww fuck it, it’s gonna be Super Hero Squad similar to Gem Fighters.

nah that character has been bounced around more than a snapback on an assist character.

it happen in the 90’s and I guess since Milestone didnt last long that they moved him back.

whatever happen, Buck Wild and Cage are the same character… so meh.

I’d prefer Blade and Black Panther.

You’re missing the whole damn point, of course each of the Marvel Vs games played differently, that’s a no brainer. But in quite a few of them it seemed like Capcom said a big fuck you to balance. Xmen vs Street Fighter? That game is like the king of infinites. MSH vs SF?All kinds of crazy shit. I don’t even need to even cite Marvel 2 since that’s quite obvious.

The whole point I’m trying to get across is that MvC3 would most likely sell better and last longer in the consoles of the hardcore players if it played more like MARVEL than TvC. That means throw balance out the window, give us some crazy shit that makes the game deep, but fun for new/casual players to go ‘Ooooo, aaaa’. Not have a game that tries to be balanced and ends up just being ho hum in a tournament setting like TvC. That game is fun and all, but nowhere near as fun as Marvel, IMO.

Now we all know MvC3 won’t play exactly like MvC2, that’s a given. But what’s wrong with taking a lot of cues from a game that has been extremely successful for 10+ years?

On another note, again I forgot about Blade, haha. He’d be even sicker if it was Wesley Snipes version

Keep thinking hardcore players factor that much into game sells. You’re missing the point.

Dimitri will be the new mag.

^^ you guys really have to stop feeding this Kalyx guy. His POV is completely different then that of your average SRK poster. So far has been doing nothing but arguing with people for the last bunch of pages.

You’re right, fuck it. I’m gonna ignore the guy.Well, not ignore as in block him, that’s a pussy thing to do, but you know what I mean. Can’t wait 'til Monday, haha

Nova/Monica Rambeau/Machine Man will be the best team. Calling it now.

Very interesting considering they removed the video now. . .

Holy shit! Ninjas must really be on their job today. I’m sure it wasn’t even up that long.

Nah, world war hulk, blackbolt and wesker for days

I haven’t been keeping up with the back and forth, but the last thing he said makes sense. The so called “hardcore” audiences really do often have their heads up their collective asses. The so-called “hardcore” gamers don’t make up the largest % of the target market. If only tournament worthy people bought fighting games the genre wouldn’t exist because there wouldn’t be any profit. These “hardcore” people may keep the game somewhat relevant over the years, but the majority of a game’s sales are made around its release. MvC 2 was unique wherein simply because of the time it was released it was allowed to survive across two console generations. There is some reciprocity between so called casual and hardcore gamers due to places like Youtube that will entice sales here and there, but if you make your game inaccessible to the masses it doesn’t matter how much online nerds like it it will kill the game.

Japan doesnt like Marvel. So they need a Vs game too. So there is still hope for CVS3 with a scrubby grove and ultra meter.. :stuck_out_tongue:

He is right in that respect, but if it weren’t for the hardcore crowd keeping MvC2 alive then what are the chances we’d even get a 3 today?Certainly much less than before.

Not only that, I can understand keeping the game accessible, but it has to be just that; accessible. Not dumbed down. Marvel is accessible, you can play at a casual level or a hardcore level, which is cool. But with the trend of every game being dumbed down because the companies want grandma to join in the fun although she’s never played a game in her life and never cared to, you’ve got to be worried at least to some extent.

I mean, take Super Mario Brothers. It can be a pretty difficult game, but at the same time your ma or little brother can pick it up and have fun. Then on the other end of the spectrum you have the speedrunners and people who can beat Lost Levels in their sleep. Hardcore gamers never had to cater to casuals because we were already all capable of playing the same game; it’s companies now who see that the Wii sold like hotcakes who dumb down games because they believe it will make them a huge profit…but at the same time they’re alienating the crowd who’s stuck with them for years and will continue to stick with them when video gaming is no longer the ‘in’ thing.

Haha, I’m sorry, every time I write something it turns into a fucking essay

MvC2 was unique in that you could pick Wolverine/Juggernaut/Megaman, and then completely fill the screen with crap after just a few button presses. I’m not really sure how you can be more scrub-friendly than a game that has Wolverine (two Wolverines, no less) and where pressing one button can summon a projectile that hits almost the entire screen.

can someone confirm/deny
