Acekillah tries to be subtle. Go back and read his posts regarding Dante. It actually mirrors the things I say about Sagat in SFIV cept you know…Sagat actually had bad/even matches in Vanilla and legit weaknesses and Dante…doesn’t.

As far as Dante and Ammy’s assist contributions to Viper unblockables, I’ve been most impressed with what I see MarlinPie do using Ammy.

If you Advancing Guard the opening normal attacks from Viper, he’ll come back up for the air throw. If you don’t, you fall right into Cold Star. So gross. He gets similar mileage out of Magneto + Ammy, too.

Jam Session doesn’t have that going on, but it can be used for left/right mix-ups much easier than Cold Star.

At the end of the day, fuck it and play both of them on your team.

I just remember RayRay escaping the ammy version over and over, in a way that wouldn’t have worked with Jam session.

Wolverine has one big weakness that is highly exploitable: Haggar counters his ass. Oddly enough. The lariat shuts down Logan’s typical strategy. REAL reason why Viscant did so well at Evo. Oversaturation of Logans lead to him using Haggar.

Dormammu also just about counters Wolverine, at least in vanilla. Flame carpet not disappearing on hit fucks him up real bad.

Proper spacing deals with that, imo. When your only approach option is one version of one special move, you have serious problems, and that’s basically Wolverine vs Dormammu with flame carpet out.

Hell, Dante doesn’t have to deal with the bullshit he HIMSELF puts 98% of the MvC3 cast through because as a character hes dumb as hell. He would be BANNED in ANY game not named MvC.

AFAIK, if the set-up is done correctly, you can’t tech the grab.

Deadpool and Spiderman are fine. Deadpool is very solid on point with his keepaway then random telports and combo-able overhead that crosses up into DHC glitch is a dead character. He also has 3 solid assist. A low assist that causes a soft knockdown and goes halfway across the screen, a OTG assist that resets groundbounces and a true anti-air assist.

Spiderman is a very mobile very annoying bastard who can kill 1mil health characters with 1 bar (with Doom missles) and his webzip ensures that once he gets in he can stay in. He assist are pretty ass but Web ball assist forces a netural tech which can set-up some nice resets.

I’ve played against both characters regularly with teams that specifically fill their needs. Spiderman nor Deadpool are that scary. What Spiderman has going for him is that he hits like a truck in many situations when he’s paired with Doom. What he suffers from are lack of decent mix ups outside the corner, very jittery mobility, and a tough time converting damage off of stray hits, especially in the air. I find that just about anyone can UB most of the time and not worry all that much on Spiderman until they reach the corner, where his web zipping mix up can be very deceptive and tough to beat. Deadpool OTOH, is a zoner in a zoning-unfriendly game. The only thing Deadpool does well is make low tier characters feel hopelessly sucky.

To me the big question mark is on Deadpool. There have been Spiderman and Skrull players that have proven these characters have the right tools in high-level play. In Spiderman’s case it’s his high/low game and how frustrating he is to get a hold of with his mobility. For Skrull it’s anti-zoning and the psychological (and sometimes real) threat of that grab. X-23 and Akuma both have big issues when it comes to their neutral game which hold their other tools back. So on the subject of Deadpool we know he is a solid character and really the best dedicated zoner in the game, I think what it comes down to is that he doesn’t really belong with the C-tier even if he’s just barely making the grade in B.

I already talked about Deadpool and Spiderman. Super Skrull is a gambler’s choice. He can basically force 50-50s whether his opponent wants to or not. Problem is Skrull doesn’t really have a range he can call his own. He just throws out crap and hopes something hits. Basically, Skrull lacks a “don’t fuck with me in this range” aspect, and this is NOT a good thing in MvC.

Thing is, that is a big deal, he whiffs he goes into hyper speed mode and that ONE move goes through all of Dormmy’s spacing options. Hell I would rather face a Dante with Dorm than Logan. But why I use Haggar assist. Covers that Logan matchup fairly well.

When Wesker does get in (because he will if you cant kill him first) he causes just as much trouble for Dante as he does everyone else (if not more) because of his frame traps + Dante normals.
