Yes, and no. It depends on the kind of jump. You should have thrown more if it was a super-jump and you were at the absolute top of the screen as there’s no limit in that situation.
SJ= No [within reason as certain specials and supers like Cable’s AHVB force the user into unrecoverable states till they land]
NJ=Yes. Entering Blockstun, OR doing normals, followed in order by doing specials OR supers. Air re-jumps reset all this. Also, you can’t back-track the order, and do a special, then a normal [unless that special was an air teleport].
Note: This is also why guardbreaks occur. Have you ever been attacked by Cable or Magneto after falling in from the side of the screen? After blocking the initial attack were you confused as to why you failed to block afterwards, when Cable’s air supered you to death, or Magneto infinited you afterwards before your feet hit the ground? Now you know why.
You’re really going to have to tightly manage the hit-stun to sneak enough charge time to get the infinite off. If you can’t, don’t worry. If you have meter, test out Calling Jin-b assist, and immediately gamma charge XX Crushing for a double crush that’s supposed to only work in the corner mid-screen.
PeRSoN: It’s a lag switch! It’s gotta be!
Me: No, you’re just terrible.

I think I might have to call this kind of behaviour ‘pulling a Xephyer’. No, folks, I don’t lag switch. Didn’t even know it was a real thing until a few weeks ago.
Stop saying that, lick your wounds and DWI.
You realize that bad networking can be a problem on just one side, right? I’ve been on the phone playing people and have had absolutely unplayable rollback on one of our sides while it’s fine on the other person’s side. It’s online: shit happens. You need to recognize that there are two distinct parts to the connection: if one side sucks, either reconnect or play somebody else. Otherwise you’re just being a jackass: Marvel is hard enough to block on a good connection.
I appreciate the bit at 5:34 where it’s clear that he had no interest in playing you and you kept mashing New Game so that he couldn’t leave without quitting out. Putting up videos and then e-taunting somebody who didn’t want to play you seems pretty grimy. Seems like there’s plenty of good players with decent connections out there that wasting your time on something like this is pointless.
I hear you, but look at how he plays. He’s not missing the timing on anything, dropping blocks suddenly, or skipping all over the screen, which are all warning signs of lag. He’s fine. We were playing on a connection of 150 ping, and nobody else playing against me that night had any problems.
I even started a new room twice, and both times he resurfaced to challenge me, even though I didn’t want him to after his display. Besides which, what stopped him from pressing start and then Exit Game if he didn’t want to play? He already said he didn’t want to play, so it’s not like I would have called it a ragequit, but there he was still playing the match in a room I started instead of leaving.
I’m e-taunting him because he’s exuding the same bad aura another player by the name of Xephyer_Sword did a couple of weeks back, where he (wrongly) accused me of lagging the game. Mind you, in that one, it lagged on both of our machines (the game started to crawl and he began to zip everywhere), but I still took it as a poor excuse (partly because that, at the time, I didn’t know this lagswitching thing existed.) If I don’t see any visible signs of lag on my end and the person is playing just fine, I don’t buy it for a second.
If I appear grimy, sorry you have that impression, homes, but keep in mind that he’s basically accusing me of cheating. With the way several players have been acting online to me even though I haven’t told them a thing or done them any wrong, I think it’s only fair that I record on my end and show everyone my side of things. Walk in my shoes here for a moment and see where I’m coming from.
I’m agreeing he’s terrible (who picks Hayato?), but I don’t think anybody is stunned that noobs run into Tron more than they should. Tron-Y is an easy win against noobs. Same thing with Megaman.
150 ping is beyond unplayable for me. That is some seriously hefty lag and about the kind of connection I have to Japan or some other foreign country.
His mail to you was “I see you won’t let you me leave” or something similar. Creepy mail regardless of whom is following whom. One of you seems to have issues. :\
If you take a step back, he’s accusing you of cheating because he doesn’t understand networking very effectively. That’s pretty common. When you have one guy with a perfect connection (because his side of the connection is currently fine) and one guy with a shitty broken connection (because his side of the connection is currently fucked up), then the guy with the shitty side of the connection is going to go batshit insane. It happens, it sucks, and both sides should just walk away and find somebody else to play. If they’re man enough to acknowledge that yes the connection sucked (as it probably would be if ping was 150), that’s all the better. Either guy blaming the other guy or taunting the other guy for not knowing networking — that doesn’t advance anything.
I was always under the impression that once it’s below 200, it’s okay. Once it goes over that, lag happens for me. Under 100 is very rare where I’m from.
Either way, he said ‘I see you won’t let me leave’ after our very first match, which struck me as a little odd thing to say when all we’ve had that far was a single match. I think you’re reading too much into that, personally…you’re making it sound like a hostage situation. I just set up the room, waited, and boop, there he was.
@ Preppy - did you see the Marvel matches posted in recent mvc2 vids? It had Potter, Bill, chunk and others - Potter finally admitted his stick wasn’t busted when he lost to Yipes @ EVO.
The FGTV one? I think so. I think I mised that part.
I’ve definitely seen arcade matches where one guy banged the machine to “help” ensure he fell out of the combo. What’s the story on that Evo match, though? I don’t really remember it.
I think he says it around the 1 hr 30 mark - give or take 5 minutes - where he goes over alot of marvel history.
The match was Evo2k6 semis - 7a
After this match, we discovered that Potter’s block button was broken. =(
Lies!
