No doubt that Maverick can hold his own and he definitely knows his shit. Heās just way to salty and acts like a sandy vagina over a few online losses.
Over the past year Iāve run into him a few times, I always beat him but in my mind I always thought the dude was pretty good, fun to play againstā¦got my respect. So then about 3 months ago were in the same room with one other person that was on the same level. I run through both of them about 4 games each. Random dude leaves the room so itās just me and Maverick. Maverick immediately hops on the mic and starts talking trash. Saying over and over again, āKeep mashing buttons buddy, keep mashing buttons. Iām so much better than you, Iām so better than you.ā Final score was something like 8-0, me. He didnāt win one game against me, I just canāt remember how many wins I had. Dude couldnāt even handle some simple Cammy rush-down. I knows sheās buffed-up online, but still, just block low for the most part. Plus there was minimal lag on my side and I didnāt hear him complain about lag or a malfunctioning stick, so I assume everything is OK on that front.
Anyway, fast-forward to last night. I get a message from one of my XBL friends saying this dude Maverick is in some MVC2 lobby talking mad shit about me. I was pretty deep into Skyrim so I just sent Maverick a message telling him that heās still talking about me 3 months after the fact. Get over it and shut your mouth. Dude sends me a bunch of messages telling me how awesome he thinks he is. About how he got 5th in some 41 man Seattle tournament back in 2003, is 2-0 on Wong and beat Desmond in a money match. Like I give 2 shits about how good you think you were almost 10 years ago. Then he starts in with his personal problems about how he had to stop playing Marvel 4 years ago because he had a kid and has mad bills to pay. I could care even less about some random online dudeās personal problems. This isnāt an online support community.
So he says he wants a FT15 for any amount. I tell him fine, letās go for $1,000. He comes back at me with āhow about, $2,000, BUT I need 2 months to practice to get my execution back.ā Donāt come at me with that shit, if you going to talk trash then youād better better ready to back it up right here and now. I gave him 2 weeks, so weāll see what happens.
Playing Marvel is sort of like riding a bike. Once you got it, it never really goes away. It should take someone about 2-3 days to āget it back.ā I started playing MVC2 at day one, imported that crack from Japan and had to mod my Dreamcast. Stopped playing in 2005, thought I was done with that shit. Then I bought a 360 a little over a year ago. It took me a solid 2 days to get back to my 2005 level after taking a 5 year break.
Maverick just needs to wake and smell the coffee, his glory days are far behind him, in MVC2 and apparently life. 2003 Marvel skills ā 2011 Marvel champ.
