just for the record, there is a good way to punish a storm that’s trying to spam hailstorms if you have storm with sent next (like that’s not common). I remember mentioning this to Potter back when I went to UCLA and played him there but I guess it didn’t catch on cuz I’ve never seen it done (maybe I just missed it).

There’s obvious a point when it’s too late to do this but, you do an AHVB style typhoon and cancel it into lightning storm. The typhoon should hit and stop the hail storm right after it starts. Now as the hail is about to hit you (shouldn’t be as much since the typhoon stops it) the lightning storm should just be activating allowing you to cancel to HSF. If timed right, the typhoon stops the HS, a little bit of lightning that comes out of the LS should hit their storm, and the HSF should cause sent to be missed by the HS while the drones catch storm from the lightning.

I caught my bro with this in a match where one HS would chip my storm to death, and my sent was almost dead, while he had 4 bars and a little over half life with storm, which got me the win.

Some people tiger knee lightning attack -> ls -> hsf depending on the situation.

Tiger Knee Whirlwind -> ls works early as well and is guaranteed to hit whereas a late typhoon doesn’t come out if you get hit.

Also you can tiger knee just whirlwind and then when hail hits you, you can roll out and take almost no damage.

yeah I know all that, but the method I stated will allow you to punish them without taking any damage from full screen when even the lightning attack wouldn’t get them

The reaction to the video at evo was pretty quiet. NKI’s video had a lot more reaction from the crowd but its like apples and oranges in this case. However, I’m still pretty curious to know what MvC2 players think of it. Unlike VA.

Actually a lot of stuff is still safe if people choose to DHC and people are beginning to abuse unblockable DHCs more and more often.

Also against people that like to rocket punch with Sent, my goal is to kill Sent rather than to kill the assist (if you can kill the assist go for it but if it’s a toss up of Sent vs Assist I choose Sent). If you can predict your opponents patterns you can get in a box jump over the rocket punch into air fp fk -> infinite -> etc for kill (dhc/reset). On low level, players suck with special assist characters such as commando, cyc, psy, tron, etc, but on higher level it isn’t a free kill and if you let Sent live you will live to regret it. Letting Sent live means that you open yourself to a potential DHC into AC into unblockable into incoming char (guard break->air->ground)/unblockable super air combo unblockable super = dead char etc.

killing storm is a priority with sentinel. if she is on the team she can change the whole game. besides… i don’t think anyone would not want to kill the assist??? 3>2… i like those odds.

and yes! this is way better than ADV tactics 1. So much usable material. Cable is not safe. The Storm tri jump with lp to knock the opponent back and avoid the assist is gold. Just go back and watch some classic matches like battle of the strongest or the yipes/sanford/jwong match and see the game breaking things that these tactics would cause. Excellent video

I rather have Storm/X alive than Sent/X.

Sent can kill an entire char off 1 hit starting if you setup the unblockable right while storm requires 2-3 good openings per char if not even 4 or 5 sometimes. Also incoming characters aren’t that safe against Sent especially if Sent has assist.

You should watch Yipes play and learn why real MSP players want Sent dead, Yipes and I also when catching Sent + Assist if Mag or Storm with air FP/FK if you can go into infinite and kill Sent then do it. I think it was Combofiend with that Sent corner rape recently, JMar been doing Sent comebacks for years and here at CF Sent is always a bitch.

Anyways, no one even does rp with storm assist here anyways, people are smarter than that, they do hp assist fly/unfly hp from full screen or just remain in flight.

Dashing through shockwave works because it’s not a shockwave but pillars/hitboxes that appear and disappear. Dash into the pillar timed so that it disppears when you get there and the next one will appear behind you.

Against Cammy AA hi tri jump and block. Bait and punish. Also remember that she comes forward up so you can actually tri jump over her range.

[*] #62 - Magneto Combo During Credits: The combo uses the 100% technique since it would take hours and hours to work otherwise. The combo starts off with Magneto launching, /, SJ.HK air dashing down and whiffing HP in order to land and do CR.LP as a combo. He then super jump cancels and air dashes downforward and hits Storm with a N.LK. This places Storm at a height where I could S.LP, S.MP., /\ ADD, land, SJ again. The next interesting part is Magneto doing S.HK SJC, ADD, whiffing, landing, S.LP, S.HK 5 times in a row. That entire sequence is all air tight, meaning I could not cut or give one more frame without it not working. The SJ.LP sequence is kind of special since I did an SJ, ADDF N.LK after his ADD SJ.LP. The last part was Magneto causing FS and doing a CR.LK, CR.LP (link), S.LP (link), S.HP. The last S.LP would not have worked 1 frame earlier or 1 frame later, it required Magneto to walk forward to get into the right range. Here’s the combo in HQ.

I dont know what I’ll do for next Evo cause I don’t have any ideas for something that would be appealing to the competitive crowd. I might end up going the NKI route and make a crowd pleasing video.:bluu:
