Their reputation is already shot, and the first few months of Fight Money was an absolute disaster.
People would become immensely hypocritical however if they come down on them for charging normal money for characters, when literally every other FG is doing the same and isn’t offering a way to get them for free. The only issue is of course, locking Sigma behind that wall.
Why is it that with the PLETHORA of easy insults we have against Capcom and their shit, people consistently go to the one that Capcom has literally been doing since the damn early 90s as if this shit is something new that reflects their poor status?
Not being funny but this is likely the case, don’t think you know how games are made as well as you like to think.same for tekken
Every game on the planet recycles assets, tables become floorboards, floorboards become doors, animations get copied textures reused.most companies would be broke doing everything from scratch n development would take a long ass time .
I think people are upset because the reused assets make the small roster more egregious. MvC3 launched with 30 characters, each one brought to life in a new 3d model with unique animations for the new game. For MvCI, we got 7 completely new characters in the launch roster (goes up to 9 if you count X, who probably uses some of Zero’s animations, and Rocket Raccoon, who may or may not keep some MvC3 animations) with the rest having a lot of reused assets. While it is true that the returning characters have updated models and a few new animations, MvC3 had a slightly larger roster without reusing anything. Even if you want to count the Season 1 DLC to buff up the newcomer count, you also have to count UMvC3 which brought an additional 12 characters to the table vs S1’s 6, which makes things even worse.
The reality is that Capcom put less time and effort into making the game in-house than Eighting did 6 years prior, which has a lot of people worried about the direction of this supposed “reboot”. There’s definitely some thought put into the mechanics, but that’s a hard sell thanks to Capcom’s piss poor presentation.
Capcom reused assets for mvc3 . But just cos it “looks” like they didn’t having fresh new models and animations won’t make the game better it don’t even change the roster size.
However capcoms pr team is the real culprit, they are a absolute shambles.thry are the real reason sfv was doa
@quicks i very much okay with reusing assets and i’m with it from my recent and past post. Honestly I don’t even care recycling 3d models even in future SF and MVC but it’s not my preference though.
There was in fact no issue regarding MVC3 reusing assets from TVC or SFxT reusing assets from SF4.
Tekken, Injustice, MK and Smash most likely doing the same thing unlike KOF, GGx and that is not the issue here.
forcing competitive players to buy DLC to compete is definitely crossing a new line. Though it’s true that other companies are doing it. I would much prefer if you could train with all of the characters for free, and paid DLC was cosmetic/loot junk like many other games.
I guess it will work because I will HAVE to buy DLC to win tournaments and recoup the money, which I didn’t for sfv. But theyre only holding the base game hostage because they’re not capable of making attractive DLC
The funny thing is we keep on accusing Tekken and Injustice having the same and exact 3D model copy pasted then we call MVCi a reworked from scratch. If you guys were following Injustice that had strike and see the different from their 3d models.
Even if you compare side by side Namco and NRS previous worked to their latest updates you knew the difference is huge and more effort than the so called reworked we had from are favorable company. Once compared the works side by side it’s obvious who’s doing much effort and time giving more attention to detail from each individual 3d models. Everyone can throw in words and claim that it is, but It’s quite obvious who is really doing the “rework” from scratch than the other. 3D artist and 3D animators from NRS and Namco or other company might be laughing how gullible fans are believing all they do is copy paste while the so called reworked isn’t what seems it is just to justify something less is better.
Were talking and comparing efforts by visuals and details here based from accusation not by gameplay and especially not by words or terms used to define an activity. I very much love this company not by just being a consumer but for other things too.
well that’s a big reason I prefered Capcom games in the past. SFV’s models were completely new and very well done. They just managed to fuck up everything else. I would argue that season 1 went better than it should have necause everyone was enjoying the “new car smell”. This is an advantage they’re forfeiting in marvel infinite. The fact that tekken 7 king is 90% the same as tekken 5 king is why I dont keep buying him.
NRS has gradually improved over time in this respect.
They use to have generic male and female models and just change the special moves, like a DBZ arena fighter does. whats the point of advertizing 100+ characters if the only diference between them is a few moves and a skin? unfortunately alot of marvel players would prefer this, though. Even MK9 had alot of shared normals and jump animations between characters. This just kills the emersion for me. Its not that its morally wrong to reuse assets, it just lowers the value of the game for some consumers amd you have to make that chocie.
if the game is shit AND its extremely expensive AND you’re using 8 year old models… not a good look.
The character roster with season 1 in SFV seems reasonable and acceptable they picked the right choices it was diverse from Alpha, SF2 and SF3 in fact the selection was better than the initial release of both SF4 and SF3. It also had better art direction in characters models than SF4 in the initial release but SF4 did better stylized designs and UI to be fair with it. The problem is with their priority and planning like the traditional “modes” that cause a matter of an unacceptable loss especially when every trendy FGs still got that mode intact along with their own storymode that is always been there.
It is a “loss aversion” that brings its problem and I even don’t really believe it was the DLC.
Just sounds like a lot of people are spoiled and feel entitled as hell. Good thing I’m old and don’t expect much at all since I lived through the glory days of reused sprites/animations and OMG we got 4 new characters who really weren’t new but now we can play them.
