MVC Infinite Lounge: DLC Characters and Costumes launch Dec 5th

Infinite playable characters?

I wonder who’s idea it was to announce the game and then just fuck off for months. There has to be something to tell us. A button layout at the very least would be good.

That’s basically how most games are announced these days. Even just among fighting games, SFV, KoFXIV, Injustice 2, etc. all follow the same marketing schedule.

The easy access to trademark, copyright, and licensing information on the web pushes big media into these situations. Copyright lurkers would inevitably dig out this information sooner or later, and by doing so they put these companies on a clock; either the companies reveal their product title first, or the lurkers do. Companies don’t want the lurkers to win, because then the speculations start, which leads to misinformation, which leads to false expectations. That’s why we get these very brief and vaguely detailed press releases of today. After all, a hasty game reveal is better than a late one.

Good point. That being said, I would at least appreciate some kind of hint or warning that we won’t be hearing anything for a while after the initial announcement. Maybe I’m in the minority here, but the wait feels alot longer when I think an announcement’s coming but don’t know when.

I kinda think the early stage build without a control scheme would of given that away

A part of me believes they only showed the game at PSX because of how much people were talking about it because of the leaks.
Otherwise, it would mean Blanka’s pockets had only those SFV christmas costumes for the event, but, hey, it wouldn’t be the first time the SFV team disappointed, would it?

Nah, with the amount that they actually showed, it was all likely planned for PSX. Especially since UMvC3 was also released on PS4 the same day. That stuff isn’t something that takes a couple of weeks to put together.

At this point, this kind of marketing schedule should be common knowledge by now. Games that do otherwise are the exception, not the rule.

Though as it was mentioned before, we did have to wait a while for new info for MvC3 too.

We only started getting new info on a regular basis after E3 of that year.

I think it’ll be a bit earlier than E3 this time since it was revealed in December & supposedly comes out this year (I can see dat delay though).

I just hope they showcase a playable build (or at least complete match footage) sooner rather than later. One of the benefits of media is that it allows them to get immediate feedback on how we view the game so far and what direction it’s headed. Right now we can’t properly do that because the gameplay footage we have doesn’t give us a good idea of how the game plays, other than how a basic combo looks. Beta testing would also be a good idea for this game, as it can cut down on the possible patchwork that will inevitably need to be done post release (moreso with bugs/glitches than game balance, though SFV could have been alot worse balance-wise w/o the beta tests). I’m not expecting a beta anytime soon, but a demo (even if it’s extremely alpha) ought to happen in the next month or so if they want to get the most out of it.

Take it as you will

That’s 1:00PM here. Work will be SLOOOOW before lunch.

I generally don’t get excited about these things unless they’re coming from Capcom. There’s so much that Marvel Entertainment could be talking about aside from MVCI.

However, Let me hear that Capcom is in any way involved in this event, and I might have a hype attack.

I hope it’s good news about something at least.

I hope we get some Infinite news.

Square Enix is making an announcement tomorrow/later on today as well. It is almost certainly connected to that so don’t get too excited

So the announcement was about an Avengers game by Square Enix.

kinda figured. no way would marvel directly announce anything related to mvci without Capcom hinting something first

Capcom’s been in the character reveal game faaaaaar longer. Marvel should just leave the pre-release news to them and only chime in on major things, like tournaments or something
