Do you guys think if Capcom releases side by side they’ll do rival reveals instead of at random?
Like, in MvC3, they’d release Sentinel and Hsien-Ko or Nemesis and Dr Strange. Characters with no connection to one another.
But this time around, would they actually pair people from the franchises who connect better, like having a Thor/Amaterasu pair of trailers or a Hulk/Nemesis fight or something?
Since they actually have a story mode this time around, I’d expect them to reveal based on the character’s role in that. X was revealed early for that reason, and I take it CM has a big part in the story as well.
Side question - do the cards present in Heroes and Heralds mode in UMVC3 give any sort of idea of the roster members that could/were initially considered to be added into the game?
Was SFV’s reception really as bad as everyone seems to be implying? I don’t really play SF that much (I just picked up V over Christmas), but I don’t recall the reception being any worse than IV was, and certainly not as bad as the shitstorm that was SFxT.
Casuals were salt about the lack of modes & characters, resulting in disappointing sales for Capcom. I don’t follow competitive SF too closely, but it seems like people don’t like it as much as 4.
Yes. SFV at launch was a $60 beta. For the casual fans there is no arcade mode (still isn’t), the tutorials weren’t there, the character stories were 2 or 3 one round fights with braindead A.I and took about 15 minutes to finish, the online shop wasn’t up yet and they had to wait until June for the story mode. There was nothing for them. Multiplayer wasn’t great neither as it took a long time to get matches, matchmaking was busted, no penalty for rage quitting was in place, battle lounges didn’t work half the time, when it did work it was a pain in the ass to invite your friends, no voice chat (still isn’t in the game). SFIV for all the shit people give it launched as a complete product. SFV is still in early access.
I’m against it. Giving airdashes to certain characters make them stand out more than the rest. And there will probably be an air dash stone, so I highly doubt that universal air dash will be a thing.
The only problem with SFV was the designed flow(UX Design) for the content was for the consumer to adjust and involve with it’s priority community demands and compromised to Capcom’s ineffiency or maybe an intended marketing strategy(Sony or Capcom?) to increase profit like trendy mobile apps that is designed to tempt the consumer to purchased in-app/micro transaction updates and upgrades. The problem with SFV approach is when Capcom decides to cut the support or it means of completion(content) which was unlike SF4 that has more longevity because of having decent standalone content that is rich on replay value even without depending on a community hype and Capcom’s support, but no worries hopefully we still can assume to get support till 2020. Capcom might have learned better business practices and customer care after SFxT and SFv. Since Marvel is involve we could expect it more casual friendly content to reachout than SFv that is to expand a community.
I just hope they are giving airdash not just because of the character powers or story flavor behind the character but the needs of that character to stand out competively.
Hm. This is all news to me I guess. I picked up SFV with all season 1 and 2 content for less than 60$ because of holiday sales, so my opinion is skewed on the quality of the game. But I’m also only a casual SF fan.
Infinite I will be picking up on launch day because I am a Vs Series whore.
We don’t need universal air dashes, but the balance team needs to realize that low air mobility is a massive problem that needs strengths to offset it.
Quick random question about Wolverine: I know Wolvie had his Healing Factor as a special ability in COTA, but was it ever a factor in later games? By that I mean…did he **actually **heal faster than other characters when you would swap him out? I remember someone saying this was a thing in all of the VS games.
I believe those passive unique abilities in the versus series(not including cota and msh) started in the first MVC? I believe based on playing he have only the universal standard of life heal during his tag-out. Correct me if i’m wrong thanks.
