one thing that ran through my mind is that i want blue lightning in mvci
really hated the yellow, looked tacky as fuck. storm’s lightning was the only blue lightning and it looked sick. but then i’d have to play storm
Removing assists entirely wasn’t needed if they want to remove characters being picked only for their assists. For me, the perfect system they could come out with if they really want a 2v2, would be 3 characters, one being assist only, but a playable character from the roster. They wouldn’t have to balance a character around their assists, so you wouldn’t have a UMVC3 Hsien-ko in the cast, and they could just balance the assist without hurting the character if the game turned out to have a Colossus. It would add some depth to team making, since in case you faced a tough matchup, you could just switch your assist character to be playable during the vs screen.
But the way I think the gem system will work, it might be really fun too. But I’m just a silver shitter on SFV, so I’ll just pick damage stone and fuck everything else.
MODOK’s Super, Zero’s Lightning loops, Hawkeye’s shock thing, and Rocket Raccoon’s trap all had a blue lightning effect as well. It was just much more prelevant on storm for obvious reasons
The point is, 3v3 allows players to be sloppy with one of their characters. I mean, for the longest time, it was known that Clockw0rk didn’t focus as much on Sentinel, spending much more time perfecting the Strider/Doom part of his team. Yet Clock still was one of the best players in MvC2.
I dunno, I’d actually like that if it meant that I could play the game, pulling off busted shit with one hand, while literally flipping the bird to my opponent at the same time, instead of figuratively.
Actually, I think MvC3 tried to avert that using X-Factor - making it so that you had a chance with your last character, compared to MvC2 where, if you were left with just a character like Psylocke or Cyclops, you still had a chance (and didn’t need to be Justin Wong) to come back.
However, it was also mentioned that were were some match ups that just dominated them. The problem here was that people didn’t like having a situation where they’d have to counterpick with something like Saki/Tekkaman, or what have you, just for giants.
This is just a little thing, but one thing I want them to bring back is the way the hypercombo names appeared on screen and got shouted by the announcer, like in MSHvSF.
