They don’t have to have fatalities. Just have them have the mechanics such as the following:
Street Fighter VS Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat VS Mortal Kombat the projectiles do not cancel
Street Fighter VS Street Fighter the projectiles cancel

As much as I dig MK especially since its revival, I don’t wanna see SF cross over with it, I don’t want to see it watered down. It’s violent, over the top, fun, beautifully ridiculous and I like some of their approaches to extras and things, but mixing SF with it will just not work. You’ll have both audiences you’re trying to court leave unhappy. Leave them beautiful and separate. I’d honestly rather KI vs MK, I think they fit better aesthetically than SF ever would.

Cultural differences man. In America violence in media isn’t such a big deal ( I.E Negan bashing in heads in graphic detail and even the aftermath being shown no problem ). While a woman’s breast are a no no. And in Japan it’s the opposite.
Can we really call fatalities a mechanic? Seems more of an aesthetic choice or set piece. Not an actual gameplay affecting thing.

There will still be a very clear top tier that will deserve a nerf. It always has. The problem with adding a mechanic to even out the cast, it’s that if said mechanic makes a weak character strong, it will make a strong character stronger. It will be easier to deal with it if they don’t make a stone be so good that it outclasses the other 5. It will be fun finding out this kind of stuff. The only thing I wish won’t happen is for the top 2 characters to have the same optimal gem. Like if Strider and Hulk turn out to be the top 2, but making a team with both would require you to choose between power for Strider or speed for Hulk.
In the end, I just want everyone to slap their 2 favorite characters together, find the best gem for them, and still have a good chance of winning. Fuck me if I ain’t maining Fou-lu/Venom forever.
It kind of worries me that they talk about making this game easier for players to jump into, and then talk about infinite possibilities with gems and stuff. Is it really that much easier to select a gem combination team with free Tag outs than a 3 person team with assists?
I’m fine as long as they make a new MvC game, but it’s kind of scary thinking they don’t even understand their own goal.

Gwenpool is alright but she is a piss poor sub for Deadpool.
Her getting in over Scarlet Witch, Emma Frost, Storm, Black Widow, and all the real important female Marvel characters would be a fucking travesty.
