It’s not the FGC’s ideal dude, it’s the buisness model of the “game as a service”. You think i’m kidding with the MOBA selling you alt colors? League of legend does it, heroes of the storm does it, even FPS sell you alt color for guns (or stuff you cant even see yourself). It’s not really “greed” or anything from capcom’s part. I love arksys but they too sold color alt as dlc.
It might be an “absurd” take but as far as cosmetic stuff go, i understand the idea of “why put it in the game when you can sell it as dlc since people do pay for it elsewhere”.

I know where you are coming from with the halo shit too. I went through the same shit with the soon community many many years ago. It’s funny because the casual audience actually convinced the hardcore what should be important to them, let little things blind what really was the socom experience and legit lead a mini melt down from slant six. Then we got Socom 4 and the effective end of the series.

It still legitimately surprises me how many people defend sf5 as if it’s a good fighting game. I mean it’s semi passable at best. But the sf5 folk shut me down hard when I said it’s the game that scrubs made. Literally everything about the game is to cater to scrub whining:
Jabs are to strong! Nerf them!
Hitconfirms are to easy! Nerf them!
Moves are to safe and to easy to autopilpot! We need more commitment!
Fireballs are overpowered! Give us easy mode ways around them!
Tick throws are to strong! Nerf them pls!
I get zoned out by character normals all day! Nerf normal rang!
I can’t jump in because anti airs are to good! Make AA’s slower and do less damage!

It’s the exact opposite of how I think a fighting game should be designed. Confirms should be easy. Autopilot should be easy to find and it should be up to the players to find ways around it. Damage should be big even on meterless jab confirms, normals should be big, not stubby.
Oki should be a real thing and feel oppressive.
But w/e I guess. It’s a new era. The baddies have spoken by turning sf5 into a scrubfest where it’s hard as shit to get loose, and they boycotted mvci probably because it’s just to real for them and they can’t handle the speed and cheapness and complexity of the game.
Skullgirls and overwatch are 2 of the only REALLY good games that have come out for me in the last 5 years or so.
A similar thing happened to the communities, of all things, the Sims franchise. Once upon a time, kids, it was actually an interesting life simulator type deal. Then, for some reason, it became this goofy propaganda tool. It’s like the mein kumpf of casual gaming.
In my observation, the critical factors are threefold:
- New management that promises to expand the user base in the spirit of ‘inclusion’ (which 100% of the time excludes the core user base).
- Amplification of casual/scrubby voices the devs are too scared to say shut up to (see Overwatch butt scandal, threads or blogs talking about some SJW shit, scrubby reviewers, etc).
- And last but not least - embrace the horror; Casuals are way loose with their money than core gamers are. Core gamers are finicky and though loyal, will not waste money on shallow experiences the way casuala do. Now you would think the answer is to keep making strong content to keep the core crowd, but it appears easier to appeal to people who will never challenge you on your design merit.
I mean… I could write a term paper on the very easy, inexpensive things Halo could do to get back on its feet. But chief among them is getting rid of the lady currently running 343, and that’s “sexist” or something. Thread closed. I’m probably banned, too. But a jackass who makes a two paragraph thread about how fun the campaign was will get a reply from a fucking dev.

my main concern is how well they maneuver and control space in the game. Cause we already have Chris. Interesting to note fox and the dude that beat him this past week said chris would be good or go up at least if he shot up.
Holding the button for his gun attacks to make them shoot upward would be an easy and welcome addition. Also change his flame grenade to either proximity explosion or larger area of effect when it pops.
And if his magnum bullets can’t be high priority, make it an actual six shooter.
