Zero is the co-lead of the Mega Man X series. Even more so from X4 onwards. Chris has been the main character or co-lead of every Resident Evil game he’s been in. He and Jill are more important to the mythology of the series than other protagonists like Leon. Haggar is the main protagonist of Final Fight. He’s the playable character that’s been in every game in the series and the plot is centered around him. This is true for the first three Final Fight games.
Huh. You know I would’ve thought that the main protagonist of Megaman X was… Megaman X. And yet he didn’t appear in the last game, only his co-star appeared. Why is that, exactly? Maybe because you don’t have to be limited to just the guy who appears most prominently on the cover art? Maybe you could pick deuteragonists or even tritagonists from games? Maybe since Power Stone literally has a dozen protagonists of equal importance you someone other than Edward Falcon and not pick him for a completely stupid reason like “he’s the biggest character on the front cover art”?? Gosh, what a concept. If only Capcom would do something like this oh wait they literally fucking did multiple times in the last game. You moron.
So long as he turns the beat back, I’m okay with Cody being in. Or Haggar. Or Guy. Hell, I’d be fine with Maki or Lucia.
The idea that games have a ‘main propagandist’ is amusing. It asks a fun question: What if most of the game plots we know are, in fact, propaganda from a character? What if Final Fantasy 6 was really Edgar supporting a rebellion against a foreign rival in order to advance his own political schemes, and the World of Ruin was just him vastly exaggerating the harm said political opponents inflicted? What if Resident Evil 4 was justification for the dashing white male with a gun to kick in random doors in the name of the president of Ameri-- …ohh… …oh. …Awkward!
Worrying about Infinites in a game named Infinite is like worrying if a gun fight is gonna break out in the bad part of Chicago. It’s probably gonna go down.
Zero just as important as X. Anyone who’s played a single Mega Man X game will tell you that.
Capcom likes to choose the main characters of games most of the time. Just looking at their past character choices will tell you that. There’s only been a handful of exceptions like Tron Boone, Trish and any Street Fighter character who isn’t Ryu and Chun. Capcom isn’t going to break an established pattern because you hate X character. Go over yourself.
“Yeah, these examples that prove me disastrously wrong? They don’t count, because I said so.”
Okay idiot.
There was also the time they put Zero and Roll in TVC and Yami as the final boss, despite not having any of the “main protagonists” of those series either. I guess they don’t count either huh.
I really just want a rival schools character in the game. I don’t even care which one, as long as it’s not Sakura (nothing against her, but she has other games she can appear in).
If they do put a powerstone character in, I just hope they don’t use Edward Falcon unless they incorporate multiple PS characters. His default design, while cool, pales in comparison the coolness of much of the rest of the cast. Wang Tang too now that I think about it.
The main character of Dino Crisis or Breath of Fire would also be cool. If we had 2 Phoenixes in Marvel 3 there can be 2 Ryus in Marvel infinite.
In VSav, Victor could charge his heavy (and medium) normals to get more damage/stun and a projectile hitbox. Could be a fun counter to zoning that isn’t just “add more armor”.
I just hope the Capcom big guys isn’t from a modern franchise…they are generic design just trying to be ferocious, mature, gory, macabre, disturbing and savage… due to their origin game’s idea of realism that is why their visual isn’t something this fantasy crossover should have always.
Even there moves would probably resort to a lot of magic satchel to justify their relevance in existing… We had so much magic satchel user in the protagonist side in UMVC3 already, that would probably candidates to return in MVCi.
There are a lot more interesting characters concepts in the past franchise in Capcom that are designed to be a fighter and fancy that have interesting visual and move for a crossover fighting game.
Vampire Savior, Ghost&Ghouls, SF3 and Red Earth is more like a fantasy game with character designs that weird, beyond and otherworldly to their games, Those designs are not visuals to represent an idea of fear, horror, martial arts and belongingness or an idea of realism solely to their origin environment.
That why they are okay and fitting to crossover fighters along with their pop culture popularity.
