But I hate the buttons of an arcade stick too. That would just mean that my right hand would get cramps instead of both of them.
HitBox does not allow & :f: nor :u: & :d: since the chip in it (a Cthulhu from Toodles) has an SOCD cleaner. The Tekken/VF options are simply due to the Cthulhu filtering & :f: as neutral.
Depends on the game. Sometimes it lets you do really stupid shit. In SC4 you could use binds to break throws while charging with Hilde.
Thanks for the replies. I wasn’t trying to be a dick or anything, I was genuinely wondering. Glad no one took it as such.
although the discussion has been around long enough that it seems silly to take it too seriously, one of the biggest peeves that some players have [including ME] regarding this matter is that having macros/mapping multiple buttons to a single one reduces the chances of input error overall. this was BEFORE pads were considered a viable input device for tournament play. historically speaking, major tournaments used tourney-approved cabinets up until home consoles were powerful enough as the actual arcade units themselves. imagine dropping a game-winning combo because only 2 punch/kick buttons registered for your Ultra input when you know that you physically pressed 3 buttons… so in a way, it is an advantage when it comes down to such a scenario due to the guaranteed consistency of the input. eltrouble already hit the nail and newer players have trouble accepting such points as fact. this is why some people seem to think that old-school players are thought to be “elitists” but as Half-Ro said, times are pretty soft nowadays…
