MTLSF presents: INFILTRATION [Event 1 of 3] (Montreal, Quebec) - MARCH 6th, 2010

You’re on! I’ll bring the board

woah, Brian, are you going to let that slide?

sarcasm isnt a good idea on the net, pretty undetectable, and people can use it as an excuse to save their ass worse comes to worse.

Anyways, this is a tournament, and I dont care if ure from the Northwest Territories, the more people that attend, the more hype it is. Shit talking is fun and all, but the competition is the true thrill in the end. Need I remind my fellow montrealers that while Ontario didnt win Nemesis, they still performed well (Eric and Ryan come to mind).

^^ This is the smartest thing i’ve heard in this thread thus far. Good shit for keeping your head on Freddy.

Nobody said they dont wanna see you guys were just saying you aint winning LOL

You never know till you get there.

Nice! You bring the board and i bring the clock.

How many participants are you guys expecting?

Yo smokey makes me laugh he’s the best imo.

Nah ur the best! But now another persone has joined ur club his name is Mana Boy and he owned Jimmy Bones too!

It’s being advertised to the general public this time which is a first for us, but our past community targeted major events have always drawn at minimum a 60 man bracket.

"Do they cover context in Montreal elementary schools?"
I thought this was a winning jab, just for the record.

Is the tournament standard format? (double elim, 2/3, 3/5 in finals?)

Yep double elim grand finals 4/7 but if the players decides it takes way too long or time is running out, it most likely will be 3/5

Also I find trash talking brings the best out of people so others have a reason to come.
come not to win, but to destroy!!

also all eyes on the chess tourney! go MTL! EN PASSE THAT SHIT!

That’s en passant*, by the way. French fail. Thanks for the clarification.

no I thought it was En Passe so it wasnt french fail it was just terminology fail.

assumption fail.

i only said ‘french fail’ because you’re from montreal, and the term is in french.

furthermore, and i’m going to go out on a limb here and possibly expose myself to linguistic pwnage, but i’m pretty sure that “pass” is used as a past participle of the verb “passer” in french (“j’ai pass la voiture”) or an adjective (“participe pass”). thus “en pass” translates roughly to “in passed”, and is grammatically inconsistent. “passant”, on the other hand, is the present participle - english speakers might be more familiar with the equivalent term, “gerund” - “en passant” translates to “in passing” - which makes considerably more sense.

so once more, i’m forced to assert:
french fail.

Did shit-talking become grammatical?!

Btw, “en passant” means “by the way”, which then means he was trying to say “by the way that shit”?! If you know french, then you know that “en passe” means give some, thus making the phrase " give some of that shit". Don’t think you’re a french specialist please…

is life that boring in scarborough for people to concern themselves with french grammar…online…on shoryuken…in the montreal thread?

c ca quyarrive que les bars ferment trop tot

@ Vanhyuk: “in passing” and “by the way” are essentially equivalent; mine is just a direct translation. i didn’t actually know that “en passe” meant give some. is that pronounced like “en passe” or “en pass”, and would you be able to use it in context for me (this part legit curiousity; not shit talk)?. also, i added a disclaimer at the beginning of my post that i might be subjecting myself to linguistic poses, but i’m still fairly confident in my assertion.

@ PAYBACK:
not in general, no - but when the fancy strikes me, i’ll do it anyway. also, are the bars in MTL open 'til 5am?

many are open 24/7
no alcohol allowed between 3am - 8am though

after 8 you can order cereals with beer if you want

it actually means pass it around. So PASS THAT SHIT AROUND Y’A!
