they say a picture is worth a thousand words … http://www.mtlsf.net/Pics/palais5.jpg
would you pay 25$ to 30$ venue fee if MAT was held on that rooftop including being able to go out on that terasse ??
Thats the most godlike location ever next to the chinatown HOTELS BITCHES STRIP CLUBS BARS CLUBS AHHHHHHH!!! I have a vision of american top players pukin already hahahahah
Sounds expensive ? well yeah it is and thats why the venue fee is going to be around 25$ on pre registration and 30$ at the door if everything goes well this week… We cant do it at HQ and I sure wont do it at Foonzo no hate its just not the place to do this MAJOR tournament we need much more space… So yeah pretty much we gotta go big … if people find it to expensive 25$ to come play at the hypest shit to hit this town then maybe they shouldn’t be in the competitive scene … We been keeping everything cheap for the cheap people maybe its time they step up and help us for how much we helped them in the past …
I’m down with Evo-level fees if it means Evo-level quality.
What I’m more worried about though is holding a fighting game tourney functionally outdoors. This picture means it would be outdoors, right? Supplying power to a bunch of stations gets way harder outdoors than indoors, and monitor glare becomes a real issue too. It’s also harder to have any sort of big “main screen” for spectators if you were thinking of using one of those. Add to that the threat of rain and wind, and it makes me uneasy.
If the picture actually means we’d do it inside one of the glass structures though, that sounds solid. (Barring any monitor glare issues from the sun.) The location within the city is obviously perfect - tons of restaurants nearby when we have to eat, near the downtown hotels, easily accessible by public transit.
Do we have any “Plan B” places to compare this to?
