From DreamWorks Animation comes a surprising tale about growing up, finding the courage to face the unknown…and how nothing can ever train you to let go. What began as an unlikely friendship between an adolescent Viking and a fearsome Night Fury dragon has become an epic adventure spanning their lives. Welcome to the most astonishing chapter of one of the most beloved animated franchises in film history: How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.
Now chief and ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, Hiccup has created a gloriously chaotic dragon utopia. When the sudden appearance of female Light Fury coincides with the darkest threat their village has ever faced, Hiccup and Toothless must leave the only home they’ve known and journey to a hidden world thought only to exist in myth. As their true destines are revealed, dragon and rider will fight together—to the very ends of the Earth—to protect everything they’ve grown to treasure.
For How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, series director Dean DeBlois returns alongside the all-star cast. The film is produced by Brad Lewis (Ratatouille, ANTZ) and Bonnie Arnold (Toy Story, How to Train Your Dragon,How to Train Your Dragon 2).

Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at Lake Tahoe’s El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past. Over the course of one fateful night, everyone will have a last shot at redemption… before everything goes to hell. Jeff Bridges, Chris Hemsworth, Jon Hamm, Dakota Johnson and Cynthia Erivo lead an all-star cast in BAD TIMES AT THE EL ROYALE.

Some trailers…

I know the movie is marmite for some folks but I strongly disagree with your view. The movie is damn near perfect, the characterisations, the horror/suspense, the cinematography, the score captures the discomfort, (reminds me of There Will Be Blood but Under the Skin’s score feels like the composer really captured the movie’s spirit). It’s a low key story that keeps you guessing, by the end you know it’s just the tip of the iceberg. It’s layered in ways I’ve not seen other movies do, it rewards repeat viewings.

Director took a risk using the guerrilla filmmaking approach for some scenes. Those scenes with the general public who were filmed without knowing interacting with Scarlett Johansson’s character take on a deeper, bleaker meaning when you watch the scenes again. If I were a film maker I would want to make movies like this.

I’ve not read the book but I heard it’s nothing to do with the book.

any recommendations of any sci fi/fantasy movies out on dvd/blu ray released in theaters in the past couple years?

btw, saw thor ragnarok today. it was a fun romp. funnier than i expected.

i’ll say this tho…
the part in the movie when Hela fought the valkyrie on winged horses was breathtaking and mesmerizing.
God how i wish someone would make a movie about Norse mythology that looks as good as that one single scene!
i dont think there’s been a single film made about norse mythology.
well at least the latest god of war has a dope norse myth setting. which im enjoying watching playthroughs of.

Halloween 2018 trailer…

I don’t entirely agree. While the execution of the film is commendable, the plot or lack thereof makes it a shallow feat. In contrast, ‘There Will Be Blood’ explored in great detail the life of a morally bankrupt oil tycoon in his prime and how it destroyed those around him. The book is indeed far better.

@PussyStuffer Try 2009’s ‘Valhalla Rising’ and ‘Vikings’ History channel show.

P.S. I am a sucker for Halloween movies with Jaime Lee Curtis, so that’s a pleasant surprise.

i saw valhalla rising already

The Predator new trailer looks promising.

Looking forward to 2 predators duking it out and swatting away those pesky hoomans lol

Michael J Fox announced Back to the Future 4 on FB :open_mouth:

Saw Upgrade last night. Pretty good!

Thankfully no…

Thankfully no why? I’d like to see the old team together rather than some horrendous politically motivated remake like GhostBusters

BTTF doesnt need a 4th movie, thats why.

Fair enough lol
One thing I’ll say, after 12 Monkeys and Timeless TV shows, Back To The Future would make a great series.

That…is something i could possibly get behind.

There already was a series. :smirk:

cartoons don’t count smartass lol

Well, if its any consolation ‘Back to the Future: The Game’ by Telltale Games is a pretty good followup to the movies. Also, ‘Ghostbusters: The Video Game’ was pretty much Ghostbusters 3, so I am personally satisfied with both franchises.

Dumbo teaser trailer…

The only live action retelling that I am remotely interested in is Mulan. After seeing Beauty and The Beast, they can all go to hell in a handbasket.

I’ve only seen the Jungle Book one and thought it was decent. ( I never saw the original animated version though)

Part of me is mildly curious about the Aladdin one since Guy Ritchie is doing it and the animated one was one of my favorite animated Disney films. In general,I’m probably not going to see most of them.
