Yeah, I had the same reaction as them. The singalong was tone deaf, but overblown as far as rage (but what isn’t these days). People attribute way more pretentiousness to this than there was. This was most likely just Gal seeing that Italian sing-along and deciding to talk some friends into doing a different version.

I thinks it’s because it’s so much easier to find out how well off or well taken care of celebrities are now that a lot of things they do come off as disingenuous publicity stunts and status than a good deed for the sake of doing a good deed.

I don’t feel that way with most of my favorite “famous people” regardless of medium, really. But I’ve felt that vibe with plenty of other famous people. Some I liked, some I disliked and some I didn’t have opinions on.

That’s just my .02 though

People take issue with a bunch of rich celebs getting together to sing a song about not caring about possessions, at a time people are experiencing less pay and layoffs because of this corona shutdown. There’s a point there. Like I said, I get people saying this was tone-deaf. Still, a bit much overreaction for something that was only meant to be a nice little thing.

Except that songs on point. Your material shit doesn’t matter. Get over yourself (Not you spefically). There isn’t a good point there it’s just people shouting at someone cuz they want someone to shout at. Now is time more then any other in recent memory to remember that people matter and take care of eachother. Your material possessions are replaceable and are not a need.
