I’m no sagat player, but I like to be able to do all the difficult things in any game I play.

And I gotta say, after reading up extensively on this, I have not gotten one kara TS off without the help of previous ones. It’s harder than 1 frame links or any cviper shenanigans. This is hours in training mode. The input display is on, it comes out correct

i can do all of these at will in any timing
f+lk, qcf/hcf + p/k
f+lk, f-360-f + p/k
f+lk, bring to neutral (just let go a fraction of a second), qcf + p/k

All fail miserably, in various timings. Could it be I have an HDTV? I doubt it (it has game mode and I’m sure there are those that can do it with HD lag). I’m making excuses here. I’ve studied magnetomaniac’s tutorial on it, and I even replicate his rhythm. Still nothing.

I want a video of sanford kelly’s hands

this topic really helped, thanks.

The theory is the following: if the :f: direction is still in the motion input buffer, you’ll get TK/TU instead of TS. This buffer being quite long in SF4, you can just wait for it to be flushed then input the :qcf:, but the kara cancel window is very short.
So you want to flush :f: from the input buffer. This is what I do:

:f:~:lk:, :qcf:+:hk:

I input the :lk: with the stick in neutral, as soon as I let go of :f:. The input display should show :f:,:f:+:lk: (much like a plink). Seeing as you just input :lk: alone, my interpretation is that the :f: direction has been somehow “eaten” from the buffer.

It might be just be a convenient way to delay the :qcf:, but that’s the way I do it.

I don’t even play sagat and I can hit a Kara tigershot 100%.

You have to buffer the motion and usually need a tigershot already on the screen.
do a qcf and then double tap a k/p. The first lk/hk should be pressed right before the tigershot has hit/blocked/gone off the screen. The second button press should be right after it hits. If you do it right, the game registers the first lk/hk after the qcf motion as a f. lk/hk because there’s a tigershot on the screen. The second tap, if done right after the on screen tigershot hits, preserves the qcf input and kara’s the f. lk/hk into tigershot.

You can only kara though if you are completely out of the first tigershot animation.

Sorry for bumping this old post. I figure if there are any new Sagats (besides me lol) that they’ll find this useful.

Obviously it’s way easier to LK or HK kara a TS while there is a fireball on the screen. The tricky one is the LK kara without an additional TS.

I’ve been able to do it way easier now. Just did 10 in a row with no prior practice on both sides. I pretty much combined kraal’s method with the HCF method. So my inputs look like this.

:f:,:f:+:lk:, :hcf:+:hk:

Now I’m off to the network to see how this can be implemented in mid range battles.
