People mentioning UMvC3 have no idea what they’re talking about, especially when most of the things people think are “broken” are actually designed to work that way in the context of a 3v3 Versus game. The only truly broken thing are TAC infinites, which in the context of a Versus game where a simple BnB can actually kill a character outright (as was intended), isn’t as broken as people think.
MvC3 works as intended. The game was designed to be retarded and it is a basically a brain stem without any important grey matter powering a decrepit body that drools as it is mixture of ground corn feed and surge soda through a nose tube.
So technically it is one of the few Capcom games that works as intended.
But as for today’s games… I can’t even think of one that’s broke, to be perfectly honest… I can think of broken players, whether they’re completely dominant or they’re just broke… Literally broken… lol
TAC’s are broken.
The only other broke thing in Marvel was fixed - the Wolverine swiss cheese shit.
SF4’s unblockables are broken, as they weren’t intended to be there. Marvel’s unblockables… Nothing unusual there. Marvel without unblockables would be like Street Fighter without footsies.
The problem with saying UMvC3 is the most broken is that there is nothing big that is outright banned. Like, if 25% was so broken that they weren’t allowed in competitive play, then you would have an argument. Otherwise, you are just rephrasing Marvel’s design philosophy.
Are there any fighters out now with multiple banned characters due to balance issues?
Multiple characters banned?
Nah, I know games that have things banned… I mean, off the top of my head…
ST: Akuma
CvS2: 4 console exclusive - note that console exclusive thing…
SC2: The console exclusives…
SFxT: The PS3 console exclusives…
And even then, they’re not necessarily broken, they’re console exclusives. I don’t think Blood Iori has much going for him, nor does Evil Ryu. ST Akuma, and Shin Akuma in Alpha 2 are the only ones that I can think are actually BANNED because they’re over powered.
I can’t think of shit that was broken in MvC3, but MvC2 had quite a bit of broken shit that was banned, but not enough that I’d call it even a broken fighter. The dead body infinites, Gambit/Ruby glitches, and punching your opponent in the face. Yeah, even that’s not broken.
Sorry, just had an argument with a friend of mine about MvC2 being broken, and the game’s not really broken.
So far, i think that the only game that had multiple stuff banned was The Last Blade 2, iirc it has a lot of glitches and similar stuff that is simply banned from tournament play, i forgot where i saw the list but it was quite big
Right now no game has come close to be truly broken, those who say umvc3 don’t know better.
Take HnK for example, a game so broken, that if it wasn’t for the fact that every character has access to some bullshit the tier list would be way more lopsided.
Before all the dribbling infinites Toki was simply in a league of his own, characters like Raoh for example only have a chance against him thanks to the infinites and yet is is still a hard matchup for him.
Also, the people calling broken the unblockables on SF4, the game has not devolved to just abusing that, yes the top tiers have characters that can take advantage of said unblockables better than others, but that is how the top tiers always are, those who can take advantage of the features of the game (intended or not) will be always the stronger bunch specially if they are coupled with a good tool set.
Imo yes, since they are not exactly detrimental to the game in a large scoop imo.
The list that i remember had like 42 or 49 different stuff that were banned , maybe it was a decompressed list, pointing every infinite and variation of combos and glitches, who knows :looney:
One thing that i noticed is that in recent tournaments they allow most of the infinites, glitches are still a no though.
Sounds like a Smash tournament… 1 stage, no items… Might as well say, "Smash Tournament: Rules: No game"
Kickback to the days of SF2WW matches - “No throws!”
