Only MKT if they were to not just HD Remix it, but HD Recreate it.
and NO BOSSES lmao

Or at the very least, disable bosses for random select.
Well bosses, if allowed, would be single player offline only. I just had fun playing as the bosses before getting into the FGC. Certainly would not support them being playable online or in any faithful ranbat.
Apologies if my post was read as being from ignorance, haha.
I agree with you. I too, own both Ultimate MK3 on XBLA, and MKII on PSN. But here’s the B_A_Z_I_L_L_I_O_N dollar question:
Will…now, pay close attention to this…WILL this new collection have a spectator mode? That is THE question that needs to be answered ASAP!!! I will do backflips NAKED if we can jump into a game and watch other fellow Kombatants go at it in all three games!!!
So, not sure how excited I am just yet, due to the trillion dollar question above. So we’ll see.
It doesn’t matter if you own UMK3 on XBLA, no one can download the game anymore and haven’t been able to for over a year now. So that means no new players, and that the existing players won’t be as active since there’s not as many players. Plus, UMK3 on XBLA has tons and tons of problems. The netcode, lack of button config, match making, the freezing, shitty leaderboards, secret characters not saving, etc. This new game will generate a lot of new players and maybe get some old school guys to try it out.
Also, this will come with MK2 and MK1, both cannot be played on XBL. And, UMK3/MK1 can’t be played on PSN either, so it works out.
Who actually wants to play MK1 online? It might be fun for a little bit out of nostalgia, but that game has not aged well.
Though I could say the same for MK2 and people still play that online apparently.
It may not have aged that well, but I know quite a few people that would still play MK1 online. It has a certain charm to it and the nostalgia I get when playing it is through the roof.
Anyway, has anyone heard anything on whether or not this collection will use ggpo netcode? Ponder if you’re reading this, please see what you can do.
They had a version of this at the PDP tournament it was pretty cool it seems like they did some sort of filtering to it made it look a bit off. It had an options which i hope is for button mapping and online function.
Is there an exact date on this?
Plenty of people will play MK2 as well since it’s basically the Hyper Fighting of the MK series, i.e. it’s a more refined version of the original and it’s the game most people remember since it came out at the height of MK mania. I was never a fan of MK3’s dial-a-combo/run-your-ass-off style of gameplay, but I can still go back and have fun playing MK2 with my friends.
My guess is that it will probably use MK9’s netcode. Lets hope they fix it by the time this comes out.
I bet they’re waiting to see when Capcom is going to release 3S Online before they pick a date.
Mk2 is a great game, but time has passed it by to a point. UMK3 is more like 3s if MK2 if SF2HF, and is just better in about everyway.
Also, this kollection is confirmed for this summer. Capcom and the 3s Netplay re-release isnt even on NRS’s radar.
UMK3 is definitely the 3S of MK. Can’t wait for this Kollection!
If the netcode from Mortal Kombat is anything to go by, then I’m very worried about this upcumming Kollection.
I really hate when people say this because there are a lot of things to consider here that people just plain don’t seem to.
It is a lot easier to write workable netcode for a 2D fighting game than it is for a 3D fighting game. Period, end of discussion.
Other Ocean headed up the development on this, not Netherrealm, so worries of the netcode somehow being identical should be dashed entirely.
Even in the impossible chance it were the exact same netcode as MK9, Netherrealm employees have already stated they have made substantial changes to the netcode to be released, so I still see no reason to fret.
tl;dr Use your brain for a second, and stop worrying so much.
In other news, is it just me, or does it look like, as opposed to just applying filters on-the-fly a la MvC2k9, they pre-filtered all of the graphics assets during development? It looks a little nicer than I would have expected, although if that is indeed the case I’ll miss the hilariously hard-edged and pixelated unfiltered graphics.
Well, the netcode in UMK3 on XBLA is pretty bad too. I really do hope the netcode is good, but I don’t expect to be considering every online MK game has had horrible netcode.
I want Trilogy for this too. I also own PSX Trilogy but I can barely stand to play it due to all the loading. I don’t know how we survived it back in the day.
Hi Skudd. OK, point taken Question…since you appear to have some slight inside knowledge on this release, can you tell us what the chances are of them allowing us to spectate fights in realtime ala GGPO?
I don’t know what inside knowledge I’m supposed to be having here, or how you got to assume I had any, but either way my best guess is that they’ll include a lobby mode a la SSFIV’s Endless Battle, or MK9’s KotH (albeit minus the avatars), allowing for those in the lobby to spectate. Open spectating of just plain any match is pretty unlikely.
Any new news?
Did this get pushed back to September? Heard that somewhere, haven’t confirmed it.
