Yeah the N64 port is pretty damn good. The game is kinda’ wonky, but fun. It looks decent and non-broken at first then you see shit like Subzero’s and his weapon doing 49% damage off of 3-4 hits. That is the easiest combo I’ve ever done. Just do jHP, then LP X3, 49% damage. Crazy. You may want to disable weapons if you’re playing this.
Bro thats not even a combo XD. After the jHP everything is blockable. Those LP weapòn sweeps are blockable and punishable by a lots of characters too (Sub, Reiko, Jax, Liu). MK4 is rare to see ever the damage counter reach 50% and its very situational or combo exhibition only.
Thx Tim!
And basically MK4 is a big one LP+BLK abusing. Holding back like crazy for prevent being thrown and punishing sweeps, blocked or whiffed lk/hk etc. MK4 isnt that combo orientated as UMK3 to say something.
No problem Hanzo :D.
LMFAO I totally forgot that MK4 had that “smack” to the foreground. Shit is too funny.
My mistake dude. I was messing around in practice mode in the N64 version and it counted as a combo so, maybe that port isn’t so good? I don’t know. It looked like it didn’t combo, but the game counted it as a combo and I got the Maximum Damage message and got knocked away. Easy mistake to make you gotta’ admit.
N64 MK4 is the best you can NOT on a cabinet.
Wtf, Kai sucked?? Nooooooo. I always knew it was something about Tanya. Too many people in the arcades were using her over a period of time and it wasn’t because she was “new”.
Nice.
i remember prior to v3 being out there were some pretty interesting combos with subzero =[
no prob bro, MK4 combo counter is shitty as hell.
I have to chime in here: I agree MK4 on N64 was the best version outside of the arcade. I had both versions for Dreamcast too. Has work on the MAME port completely stopped? I know it worked reaaaal slow last time I tried it, and I used to have a link to some dude’s blog that was working on it.
Sadly it seems so. Never seen or heard of a finished rom. Which sucks. While certainly not the best MK, or even best arcade MK, it still blows away the last 10 years of MK by a long shot.
I am gonna look into getting a MK4 super gun made for tourneys tho.
I have to say even though it had big shoes to fill after UMK3 and it being rushed, this had to have been one of my fav MK’s of all time. Back in the day (and I mean BACK in the day) Tampa had a BIG scene for it. I wasn’t in the competitive scene yet but I had to be at their level to even stay on the machine. This was the only MK (before the 3D ones) and was actually really good at!
yea same here. I got hired as the manager of my local putt-putt at the time MK4 Rv1.0 came out (and lots of other games, plus older MK’s by that time too) The game was a total let down after UMK3 but it was fun.
and is still 100 times better than MKDA, MKD, MKA & MKvDC.
