Well information is better than nothing at the moment.
I’ve been dying for a bit of solid information for ages now, even if we haven’t been able to play the game.
Just want to know if such n’ such is still good, etc.

The reason why everything has been falling apart as far as monsters release is because JAMMA has been requesting ShoK to do ALOT of stuff for them. Shok has also picked up another game project as well as trying to finish what he started with monster. Things for him never seize to die down. He stated and i quote that he would have the game up by the end of the month(which is only 3 days away) upon my meeting/discussion with him, Monster is 99% completed and the system is finished(thats my doing) He does apologize for the long wait especially because its been nearly a year since the last update and this update was supposed to be released sometime ago. The reason the dates keep changing on monster is because of the fact that he has been so swamped with work and other projects(personal business is none of you guy’s business)
This is what I can tell you first hand.
Monster is very much near completion. The PC version that is. The arcade version has been pushed back because he decided to add alot more stuff to the game. So I wouldnt expect that until november of this year or feb of next year.
The last remaining thing to complete on monster is the character animations(they are done they all havent been added yet) They are very close to completion now. And should be with in the next few days
Shok is really busting his ass to do everything as fast as he can. I understand that he keeps pushing back dates but if the work he was doing wasnt true, then iw ouldnt back him 100% on what he does. He does have alot on his plate and has been getting offers out the ass to do mainstream projects(Even another capcom project possibly) So yes, things are a big screwy at the moment. Though, in spite of that, he should really learn to work on his communication skills =\
These are the things I can tell you first hand because I saw them for myself. We both are doing our best to make sure everything is just fine.
We won’t know who is good and who isn’t until we actually get our hands on the game. Tests and programmers can only do so much and what they may see as good, could in the long run turn out be garbage due to something the players discover. We will get the game eventually. Calm down, your impatience is annoying and unnecessary.
The one thing you need to understand is when it comes to shok. NOTHING IS promised to you at the time it is supposed to be. Believe me… everyone who played monster before this point knows this. As stated, be patient… If there is anything we dont need now is people jumping down our throats. It wont make the project come any faster. Trust me…
Fair enough.
Even so, a kind suggestion.
For the sake of the future, why not just cop the “Blizzard ethic”, as far as Monster is concerned?
In other words, just tell us the new update/patch/whatever will come down the pipeline “when it’s done”, and at least then, deadlines and any other time-related constraints are off the table. You don’t list a milestone to be reached, we won’t be left expecting one until “it’s done”.
I would rather just have a date sprung on us by surprise (the game could be announced to come out in a day or two before it’s released, as far as I care), rather than have the hype built up over the course of some weeks/months…only to be left deflated because a date can’t/won’t be met.
I understand that ShoK can be busy. But as some one who wanted to play this game, as well as is concerned for its overall viability/relevance, I don’t think I’m alone in stating that it was quite a let down to not see M:AC released, as it was promised.
So, how about it? Again, the game can end up taking as long as it may need to, but at least the fans’ hearts won’t be played with but so much.
All I hear when I read this post is :crybaby::crybaby::crybaby: and to me that is :lame::lame::lame:. If you were truly understanding, then you’d be happy you’re at least getting the game. Do you have any idea what all goes into making a game, and not just a doujin, but a full blown ARCADE GAME. Shit gets pushed back, live with it, and grow up, or don’t even call yourself a fan. Sure, it’s a bummer that it didn’t come out when it was supposed to, but you’re still getting the game and OMG, shit is going to be added and it may perhaps be even better. Seriously, if the companies want to toy with you, they will and a simple post like your’s will do NOTHING to change it.
Wow. And what a way to portray yourself as douche bag, pal…
Let me put to you this way. A game can try and set itself up to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it won’t mean a THING, if it doesn’t have the fans to support it (and more importantly, buy it). What good is any game, without the people to play it, and just do more to keep portraying interest in it? Plenty of games that had the potential for greatness, later fell apart because of things like this.
Just because I’m being a bit more of a cynic, doesn’t make me any less of a fan. Hell, the fact that I’m doing so means I really CARE about the game. If I didn’t, chances are, I probably would have moved on by now, and stopped being concerned with this project. I have plenty of other things that I could do with my free time, but when it comes to this, I CHOOSE to keep caring. Because I like this game, and want the best for it, but things about it as of late have been concerning me, all issues that are quite valid, I assure you. And I can also assure you that I’m certainly not the only one that thinks as such.
So don’t even try to hand me that tripe of me being a “cry-baby”, man. That’s completely unwarranted, and uncalled for.
Well this is good enough for me.
I find it ironic that now it’s the Arcade version that’s going to be getting more stuff.
Also, I’m very pleased to hear about Shok getting more work. That means his artwork will be cropping up in other games…
And…if Capcom is asking for him again does that mean that…we may be getting a possible future Darkstalkers game with Talbain making an appearance?
Ooooh, so exciting.
I only wish that Shok would allow us to get some glimpses of the new characters to get the hype up. Or release some tech demo vids. With the game being close to release on PCs, we’re all hungry for information about the new game. Even blacked out character sillouhettes like was originally done for Efleet would be great.
I remember how much fun it was trying to figure out who the blacked-out characters in Blazblue where.
“Oh, is that going to be a midget penguin in a top hat?”
“Scantly clad goth girl is the one on the right.”
and so on, so forth.
It just really sucks for the people that weren’t in the original Monster community because we’ve all been conditioned to believe basically nothing anymore and to just be surprised by a patch a day before it’s released (and then a hotfix a couple hours later for some broken shit we didn’t even get to find yet while we find other game breaking bugs lol). Though it’s understandable for fans to be upset, it doesn’t matter if you’re making a doujin game or an arcade/console game (actually, it matters more since you’re getting paid to work on behalf of a company rather than just for yourself), milestones can be a project’s life line. If you can’t reach your milestone, your project might die before it gets finished because you can’t sink the work needed to finish it.
Anyways though, it’s not surprising that the game is being delayed by ShoK, he loves to mess with how the game works as proven by everything pre-1.11b as it looked to be a strong progression and then 1.11b hits and basically the game radically changed from character balance changes, gravity affecting combos and tons of hitbox changes across the board.
Game got Maya’d.
Anyways, just hang on tight. At this point hopefully you’re still interested in the game when it hits, as for me, I’m not sure anymore. I’ll hang around the community for awhile longer, but there are better things to do with your time than just waiting and drooling for this game right now.
Hey Aya, whenever this game is done, how long do you think it will take before it hits the shelves? Got estimated dates?
It’s done, when it’s done.
Live with it.
I ain’t question when it’s done. :looney:
Official Arcade site open, mostly nothing to see, at least if you dont know the original art… still good news.
I wish i did, Shok Cant hold a date to save his life and quite frankly its one of the many reasons i dont wanna work with him anymore. My next project is Dragonblast working with Urakata who actually ironically is shok’s business rival(go figure) So imagine the japanese drama im going to be going through with i move to japan lol.
But, I really dont know anymore. When i get more information i will be sure to give it to everyone. I cant apologize for his mistakes anymore because this is insane and absolutely ridiculous.
Sorry about this off-topic question Aya but what is that “Dragonblast” thing? dont tell me that is a new fighting game because 2008 is about to fucking explode.
ok i wont tell you that
XD
Any way, if you’re involved, this game must be worthy of future interest. I’ll keep an eye out…
i liked monster. =( back before they nerfed everyone EXCEPT the two most broken characters, that is. the point system was a genuinely interesting idea
but yeah fuck whatever that game is
Hi Polarity, i can see you back with all your classic style as usual.
But oh well, good luck with this new project Aya, i will keep at eye on it because some of us still try the games first before throwing free shit.
