Besides TexMod, I also found on GameVixen that new DLC costumes (which already included in the disc) can be made available by editing some system files. Some dude there even made nude skins of Chun-Li and Cammy.
My question is, can anyone confirm if this method is safe if I play online.
I know it’s not a cheat or anything but whether a cheat or not, system files are manipulated.
never mind the nude skins i can’t wait for the classic colors. Also does anyone know away around using offzip i’m not a big fan of command line apps and it has been along time since i’ve had use one a frontend or Gui would be nice.
thank you. One more thing. Adding Akuma’s costume is easy enough (drop it in his folder), but what do I do with Cammy’s? The file is “BLACK_CAMMY.tpf”. I have no idea what to do with it.
Edit: I’ve worked out that you need to do something with Texmod. I loaded the vpk and the game with it, and don’t know what to do next.
For Vista users who want an easy way to access the dat files using “offzip”:
Go to the folder where you want to open the EMZ, at which point you hold shift then right click. You then click “Open command line window here” (this function is only available on Vista, XP users will need to find a mod to do this) this will save on users who don’t have experience with CMD.
I’m still having trouble unpacking the DAT files though… It seems that Dragon Unpacker doesn’t work. Even after following the instructions to the dot, I still get an error saying it’s not a valid DAT file…
So rather than mention the hexcode for cheat engine that will simply allow us to access the costumes which we’ve all already paid for we’re swapping files? Am I the only one who sees something wrong here?
Yes I realize how it works, I was just saying we shouldn’t have to resort to doing so. Odds are Capcom are not going to charge for it anyway knowing that most of us already paid for it on console versions (which we shouldn’t have in the first, what was I thinking) and are unwilling to pay for it again.
Trust me I’m on the same boat. I blame EA for creating this kind of “con”(even games like BlazBlue are release DLC that just unlocks stuff…At least you don’t have to pay for that.), but I digress.
I wonder how long it will be before someone does mesh modding, or at least finds a way to access the meshes.
very nice tip there, wouldve saved me like 10 mins of trying to remember/figure out how to navigate drives with the command line
you dont unpack the DAT file you edit it(with a text editor like TextPad or UltraEdit) then rename it to the cos.emz or col.emz file you are trying to replace/swap.
But CS2 does. I’ve used it before… Though I don’t currently have PS.
@Digital-: I can’t see the DDS I can’t access it in any way… I’ve done everything that was mentioned there. I highly doubt it’s because I’m running Vista x86 either…
Yes you can. On page 4 of http://www.gamevixenzone.com/gvz/viewtopic.php?f=132&t=3440 someone did the work. Not all the colors are done though, so only color 1 will show up. The rest will be a glitched still of the character that won’t move.
I’ll upload a picture in a min. Reading up on some people who are already modding meshes.
