Hi, this qanba q1 is my 1st arcade stick and I want to change the default buttons.
I know that modding qanba q1 is easy if I choose sanwa buttons, however I had in mind to use concave buttons because the arcade machines that I played when I was young were using concave buttons, pretty much every single arcade in my area had those buttons and I love them.
If I choose concave buttons, are they easy to fit in my qanba q1? because watching the video bellow, seems that maybe If I want concave buttons, those buttons does not fit in the holes as sanwa buttons fits, and I just want to do the same that the guy of the video do.
Also one more question, about those concave buttons, I read that the classic ones are “happ” buttons, however Im looking few shops and seems that they dont mention happ anywhere, I saw some with a different mark or just called “third party”, they all looks the same buttons anyway, need I to research “happ” buttons only?. Well that would be in case that I decide to choose concave buttons, I need to know if those buttons fits ok. Thank you and sorry my english. I did my best

Hey,

I don’t think the body of the Q1 can fit the Happ or IL buttons at all. The buttons you want is just too long.

You might want to switch to the default buttons to Sanwa or Seimitsu anyways.

well, I did not have too much hope in this. You are right, I better go for the Sanwa buttons, I can’t go wrong with that, also I read that they are the best. Thanks.

Sanwas or PS-15 Seimitsus will be your best bet. Welcome to SRK!

thanks NENDO.

I recieved today the qanba q1 and something weird happened. I unboxed it and the stick was absolutely loosened. It was moving to everywhere without pressure, just moving the base. So I started to move the stick a bit with my hand, you know “wtf is this shit, fuck my luck…” and then, after a while, it fixed itself! I did not notice how.
It still did not feel very good but I connected it to my PC and played a couple of SSFIV and now It feels 100% fixed.
WTH, guys do you think that this is normal? This doesn’t have any sense for me. I already ordered sanwa buttons but I have no plans to replace the stick, I will have to open the case for replacing the buttons, but man, if the stick is faulty I prefer to dont do it and return it to amazon. However as I said, now it works good.

Sounds like a weak spring inside the joystick.
its not hard to swap out

pretty much it was a problem with the spring. I guess that it was not in its natural position, maybe contracted, and after moving it, it was fitted in the correct place. Well really I have no idea of how springs works in the stick. I just hope that this did not damage it, because maybe its easy to swap out but I dont have other spring for replace it. It does not feel too soft so I guess its ok.

I notice that the stick is quadrangular, Its not posible to do circular movements, I guess that this is the standard in these sticks. I do not like this point. Perhaps I will replace it in the future.

I have alot of success putting a JLF spring into a knock off joysticks in the past.
The Qanba Q1 uses either their own brand parts or Sanwa parts.

Square gates are the standard. How you do “circular movements” is by first stop thinking as a circle and remember there a square gate, to make L shape movements, like a Knight move in chess.

Thing is, if your stick is actually faulty I say take advantage of your warranty and rma your stick .

I did not know, but there was 2 diferent square gates in the box. I chaged it for a circular one. So yeah finally I opened the case, the stick seems fixed. That was very very weird. I dont know how or when, I was moving it a bit and suddenly I notice that it was working good.
Thank you all, its time to try it with some games.

edit: ok, finally I decided to change to octogonal, so far the best for me.

I’m actually ordering the Qanba q1 in the beginning of the month, Simly because is what i can afford, But i plan on getting new top notch parts, Sanwa parts. What size buttons does this stick use 30mm? and i assume Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Joystick will work if i buy that?

Anyone suggest any websites if possible?
