Modding a Mayflash stick (finished! 1/18/2009)

I just want to bump this comment, thanks SRK. I want to add to this question on the LED mod, does anyone know on the 07 pcb where a good Vcc contact would be good to use Toodles FGWidget LED Controller Kit as well as the ground? A pic would help alot, might even point it out on the 09 pcb. I’m ready to buy this kit and give my 07 pcb Mayflash an overhaul with KNsert LED Board v1.4 , a Sanwa GT-C Round Restrictor Plate Insert, and my custom acrylic sheet. I really love the Mayflash, (I have two modded now) thanks again SRK! It took me a long time after giving up on my girlfriends 09 pcb back in late 2009 but thank goodness there’s so much info posted on the differences with the 07 pcb. She’s very happy now, finally lol!

I did some testing with my multimeter and found two small holes right above the joystick wire inserts (this is the 07 Mayflash pcb). I measured 3.4 volts for ps2 and 5 volts for the ps3. I’m not sure if this where I want to use Vcc and ground for the FGWidget, any help would be appreciated, thank you!

FGWidget LED Controller is made to operate with +5V source.

Thanks for the quick response! I’ll need to keep looking, I have spotted at least one Mayflash led mod floating around but seems just as complicated. Is using just a KNsert with appropriate resistors an option? Gets kinda of confusing since the Mayflash consumes different amounts of power I’ve observed in ps2 versus ps3. Thanks again!

What kind wires should I use to install buttons?

And then, six years later:

Finally got around to doing the mayflash mod. Still not completely finished, but the wiring is all done. Will probably swap out the buttons (cheap nameless Chinese buttons I got on ebay, just installed them for testing) and cover up the screws etc. Modded my madcatz SE sticks many years ago, but have been without a PS3 stick until now (for tournaments etc), since this has been sitting around taking up space.

Used an LS-40(?) which was sitting around for the stick. Decided to just desolder the switches and install them so I wouldn’t have to damage/repair the PCB.

Now to get around to installing that PS360+ in the other stick…

Hello everyone, I know this is a very old topic but my questions are regarding the Mayflash stick (got it from a friend who doesn’t use).

I opened it and then I found that it has the 2007 PCB.

Lucky me, because with this model I don’t have to cut the Sanwa PCB (I think).

I know how to solder the buttons and so on, but i don’t have any clue about how to wire the Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT.

All the tutorials are down, and I only could find tutos for the 2009 PCB.

So I’m asking for some hints, please?
