Lag on the anti airs maybe?
For honda the key is to keep him in place and move on him. Mid kick fireball does wonders and forward jumping hp and neutral hk stop him from any jump ins. The key to the honda match up is knocking him down, because he’s so free for juri. you can lock him down with an ex mid kick fireball and force him to stay in one place. He cannot headbutt you, he cannot butt stomp away, he can only block which is great for fse. You want to keep him in place so you can begin your mix-up game. The whole fight you need two fireball stocks. Mid and high (for the jump ins). Lk is useless unless you have him in the corner. Just don’t get cornered yourself, it’s bad for us, really really bad. Like omfg it’s just…yeah (nightmares). Other then that just remember keep him locked down and spam the mid fireball it’ll teach him not to headbutt. Hk fireball stock for jump ins. You do that, his options are all but one, blocking.
Is Juri hard character to learn?
I tried ex mid. That’s my “I dare you to duck move”. I just got ultrad for my troubles. I was mad. Lol. I have to mask it I guess. He knew at a certain range to pressure I can only jump in, ultra or footsie. I wouldn’t risk going for ground pressure.
Honda can switch his jumpins and stuff or trade my anti airs. I gotta research some jump ins.
Ex headbutt will stuff any jump. I hate it. He always has meter so I always have to respect his wake up.
Zoning is my only reasonable way to beat him but his j fierce goes fireballs.
I think so.
Who was the juri at guard crush. He went 0-2. Anyone know?
here kail this may help a bit. The concept of zoning him out is there and keeping him locked down and getting a few hits in.

Course i’m not sure if the honda played the match by the book though.
Ignore the second round. The juri player corners herself which is a no no in the honda match. Other than that i hope it helps. I’ll try to find more vids for you to get over this honda phobia.
I just have to Play the match how it should be played… More. The phobia is real! Heh.
Oh! And he has a command grab. I’m so free vs them. I’ll check it out. Thanks for the suggestions. Next step is ft10 vs him and record it.
lol gotta love that fuhaswapping!
He gets full super meter in 40 seconds of straight fuhajin zoning. Interesting. I really should build meter more often like this.
You should try fighting a local good Honda player regularly if possible, Kail. Even if its only online, the experience will stand to you and will help you get over your Honda phobia. Ask for advice on what to do to counter him ( most players are more than happy to give tips ) but regardless, nothings better than getting you ass kicked multiple times by a good Honda to help you learn the matchup and discover what you can and cannot do.
Seriously though, once you get enough experience fighting Honda, he doesn’t really seem that daunting at all.
Yes, she is indeed tricky to learn. All are specials are deceptively easy enough to do but knowing when them and use properly or making use of her normals instead is the REAL challenge. I’m still no where near pro level with her myself but I can tell if you put in the time with her, when results start coming through, it feels great.
The local hondas are what I’m talking about! Lol. I got one I can’t beat. He’s baffled why I’m having problems, “just zone me homie!”. I’m like “I’m trying!!!”. Heh.
Then I get frustrated and rush down and get killed for it.
Then there’s the handless Honda. Can’t even do jab hands. Just eats my damage.
Honda is such a mystery to me.
Do you have any match videos of your sets with him, Kail?
Not yet. My computer is being redone. Soon.
Yooo
I’m kinda new lol. Have been creepin the forums forever. First post but I think it will be better made in the juri forums. I’ll be glad to help anyone. I’ve been playing juri since super came out. Dropped Akuma for her because I could tell the differences between vanilla and chocolate Akuma. But anyway I wanna be apart of the forums so here I am lol. Oh by the way, please don’t judge me, I’m from eventhubs though I’m no scrub. I just feel this is a better community. I’m a decent juri so let’s just do this.
Edit: sorry pals forgot to mention I can’t do any matches for awhile cuz my arm is broken atm lol. So for now it’s all ‘theory fighter’. I’m all for Q&A so it’s all good.
That was a nice Juri. I think Juri was played exactly how she was supposed to even in the second round. Nice spacing .The Honda not so much except for a lil bit in the second round. In the past, I’ve compared Juri to a lil bit of Sagat and a lil bit of Dhalsim. This is what I meant by that.
That Honda was attempting to jump in from the wrong spacing and was getting punished for it just like Dhalsim would do. Juri wants you to chase her and doing it by the air, is probably the worst way to do it. At least from the wrong place/time it is. That said that Juri made ALOT of good reads with her fireballs
Here is where my Sagat comparison comes in. All Honda has to do is walk forward and block. Juri has two kinds of fireballs, ones that you can duck and ones that you cant. Every one must be “charged” all the same. By just walking forward and blocking, Juri will eventually corner herself just like Sagat because…
…In order for Juri to maintain the right spacing she has to dash/jump back which only adds to ground that she lost or she lands her combos and creates space. So when they are walking forward on Juri they can expect her to to do one of a few things
1.She will create her space so they should be ready to capatalize even further on the space given up. If Juri is in the process of jumping back and she sees movement, they can probably expect her to try that surprise divekick.
-
Or she will try to stand her ground. Juri does this by either trying to surprise attack you by jumping in or dashing in. Also, this is where they can expect her hail mary attempts like ex PW or that super she unleashed on Honda. She could try to use her attacks like far Mk or far HK but then it’ll end there. She now either has to kamikaze it, or take her chance and try to to store her only safe normal(*edit I meant to say special) from where she is or give up the ground so that she can do it safely. She’ll probably look for a chance to fwd throw since that creates distance or look for a chance for a cross up so that she can switch places.
-
She will try to block long enough and wait on her chance to do any of the above.
All that is just my opinion/observation of Juri’s “zoning” matchups. I see the similarities on how to approach Sagat and Juri and to some extent Dhalsim. I even think Sagat has a similar throw where he chunks you across the screen and I see how Sagat’s gimped TK is comparable to Juri’s PW and how we/they attempt to use it. I see it in every match except the ones Juri wants to rush down but maybe thats just me.
Thats probably where the similarities end. Juri’s FB’s recover faster than anyone else’s except Guile so what you would use to punish everyone else you wont be able to use on Juri for example.Juri is more mobile than both too.
Welcome, glad you could join in.
Why didn’t this Honda just walk forward? He really didn’t know the match too well.
But I learned a few things from that video. My fuhajin store/release speeds are slow. I gotta decrease my recovery.
Also, I’m afraid of Honda getting a random jump in that he can just float over or j fierce through. I should just trust in my fireballs.
Thanks for the video. Should help.
I recently decided the Honda matchup isnt as bad as everyone made it out to be, although still by all means in his favour hes not as bad for me as lets say Fei Long, Cammy or Akuma. I kinda thought otherwise because thats what everyone else was saying, hes good at rushdown and does good damage and chip on headbutts and jumpins, so essentially fireball zoning is kinda outdated, you only need to do that on a good life lead.
What (as a character) hes bad at is defence, if he wants to charge reversals he has to sit on down back, you can do safe crossup j.mk’s with OS guards to break auto correct ex moves and you can fairly easily stuff buttslams with cr.mp and get a dash under mixup off of them (while at the same time breaking his charge), if not that you can always FA it. Every time you safe crossup you break both of his charges so you can actually safely do high/low mixups with your overhead and rock counterhit setups fairly safely.
When you think about how you actually have at the very least a 40 dmg lk pinwheel punish on Hard Headbutts and a way to punish all buttslams no matter how far they are from you, what then is that scary about him? If he has low health and you have a super thats a 240 dmg punish on headbutts, so at the very least in that situation your safe to fireball zone, not only that but its dead hard to ultra/super through fireballs for him and you can punish his ultra 1 pretty hard.
Take it to training mode and find some UKD setups on him and your laughing.
Welcome to the Juri forums. Hope you can learn something new from us. Be sure to contribute anything you think might help all of us
Anyway at the honda vid. Yeah you gotta zone out honda or zone out his options. a mid fireball cripples all of his headbutt attacks and forward movements. Air fireball is to stop his jump ins. That’s pretty much the whole match up. You stock fireballs, build meter and spam ex mid fireball when you deem fit. Like you should not waste your meter on anything else. I just liked how the match was played out. I’ll see if i can find more, but for now use that as a tool to beat Honda!
Hmmm. Can you option select on a cross up?
The Honda I played had an easy time ultraing through my fireballs. Spaced/timed it wrong?
I have a habit of focus attacking armor breaking buttslams.
I’ll take it into the lab and show my finding.
OS guard because theres no OS that beats his reversals, they stop being invinvible after startup though so at certain distances you can stuff them relativly close to their startup times.
Fact of the matter is if you safe crossup (j.mk/lk/hp) and you OS guard, if his exheadbutt autocorrects, you block it and thats one less meter to worry about, your then at like +7 to do whatever. If he buttslams you can probably cr.mp it or punish it if it whiffs, always use cr.mk to be certain about spacing, if its way far away divekick.
Buttslams only armour break on wakeup or if they are done as reversals, but its still easy to dash out of them and stuff them with cr.mp/hp.
Dont need to show your findings, just find stuff that works for you and take it into the match, no problem.
Cross Honda on utk. Takes his back charge. Forced to do buttslam if anything which pinwheel can stuff, right.
So in theory in the corner you can do C.mk xx hk pinwheel > dash under, j.lk. Buttslam is his only option if he wants to.
I have a really tough time vs command grabs. Hondas have so much range! The command grab mix up is so scary to me.
I did not know you could dash under in the corner, this is actually pretty helpful, cheers.
