heres an easy tip that might help …
well if you wanted to connect obviously you’re going to need the opponent to be standing … the only way to do that is get him on recovery from a special or hitting them with cr.HP first.

so it would go something like this:
cr.HP , MK fuhajin , FADC , whatever followup you want to do next …

when you press the cr.HP , release your mid fuhajin at the same time and then do the FADC as if you’re canceling the cr.HP and not the mid fuhajin… thats how i got it to be consistant …

its a bit tricker to do it on its own but not impossible … i say start with the first bit … once you get the feel for the timing … try doing it alone (although i dont see when you would ever need to do it alone except to antiair)

im setting off to switzerland tomorrow for Beat by Contest, has Tokido, Mago and Sako in attendance, so good shit basically, ill rep Juri but dont expect much results, either way hopefully i dont get blown up on stream early cz that would suck, i get mad nervous in tourneys and have yet to conquer it.

i was gonna go but i have a career changing final on march 9 and that messed up my plans for both swiss and cannes … (believe me i am so annoyed) … but hopefully ill be able do go to any major tourney in europe after march … (looking forward to this years SVB). good luck at the tourney. i heard some top american players are going to the swiss one as well so it should be interesting !

So anyway i went to Beat by Contest, progress, as i expected not much, i got nervous, shit was hard, Fei long in the first round which i lost too (no surprizes there) i went to Abel in the second game won but lost the third. Beat a Cody (1 game with Juri and one with Abel) the second round, lost to a really good Akuma from Holland in the third, my mistake was picking Abel in the first game though, i did alot better with Juri in the second even though i lost. Got only one round through the doubles, nothing worth mentioning.

Aside from that it was a good learning experience, i played casuals with alot of good players from Europe and managed to keep up with them, one guy even told me why i wasnt playing that well in the tournament and i obviously told him my problems with tournament nerves, so yeah i surprized people with Juri’s potential, managed to nail alot of new setups id been practisiing in training mode (albeit not in the tournament which is a shame because i was saving it for that). Seth and Guile unblockables are down, literally never miss them now, managed to do a whole FSE combo with a fireball on a Seth i played against and that took the round in itself lol.

Some people i played that were really interesting was Skatan from Sweeden who some of you might have seen blow up Mago on stream in the doubles tourney with his awesome Sakura. He told me some things in the matchup and i can now see how it might be a 7-3 right now. For example during Tatsu loops if you try reversal Expinwheel any normal followup or even Tatsu he does after will trade and **Sakura even gets a free combo off of that trade **, like 400 damage, and its too risky to counter because of armour breaking tatsu’s and the general throw game.

F-Word from the UK in London who plays Ibuki (so sick) pretty much proved to me that armour cancel expinwheel on wakeup is dumb, he did the kunai vortex so close to the ground that i could never get the pinwheel to autocorrect so natrually i stopped doing it. On jumpins i learnt through the duration of the casuals that cr.mp can hit Kunai’s and recover in time for you to grab Ibuki on the landing, you just have to react, if not throw it out in anticipation of the kunai and because its active for 6 frames you should still be able to anti-air her if she doesnt attempt it. Learnt some other stuff but i dont plan on writing an essay just on that…moving along.

Yagami (also from Sweeden), pretty much showed me i didnt know the Dhalsim matchup, hes the best Dhalsim ive ever played and i didnt even realise he was that good when i first sat down to play him. I literally couldnt touch him, so thats something im going to have to take to the lab one day…theres really nothing else to say other than i was completely raped for 6 games in a row (not even a round in my favour).

Yeah i could basically go on for ages, but those were the ones that seemed to stick with me the most, if any of you read my wall of text, good shit, otherwise this was just some sort of personal blog, putting my thoughts on display and what not.

I dont know a whole lot about Sakura. Which loop are you talking about?
I say go for a “reversal timing” throw after the tatsu. I think it beats everything except ex DP and a throw which will result in a tech. You can use a plink to make sure it comes out as soon as possible. Once they see that it’ll force them to change their game then you can use your purple psychic powers to predict their change up.

Its risky and they can continue into a combo if you mistime. There is no room for error unless their follow-up attack is slightly late. But hey its an option.

I know even less about Ibuki. If he does it that low couldnt you just do a straight up ex PW instead of the armor cancel? When I try it in training mode I only get a couple of hits but at least it’ll get you out of vortex. I dont know if Im doing the vortex right though.

Throw doesnt beat going straight into another tatsu and after tatsu shes to far away to grab anyway.

Sakura is a bad matchup for juri. Don’t let her in and rush her down til you think shell reversal.

It must be a loop I dont know about thats why I asked. According to my testing you can throw even if they followup w/ another tatsu. Are you sure? I beat it everytime.That shit takes forever to start up as does the rest of her specials. The only one I couldnt beat was ex DP and thats because of throw invincibility I think. Sakura wasnt too far to throw after the tatsu but that all depends on spacing and where the loop was started from.I tested LK and cr.Hp into tatsu and was able to land a throw. If they are too far to throw then you dont have anything to worry about.

As far as ther kunai’s like I said I dont know if Im doing it right but if they are doing it that low I dont see how it can beat the ex PW. I thought it would have to be done higher so the kunai lasts thru the invincibility. I’ll have to do more testing. I’ve never attempted to learn Ibuki’s vortex so maybe Im doing it wrong.

Aye obviously excounter is always a nice option, but im just trying to point theres no punish option for it on wakeup.

Sakura is hard, he was a good player to top it off, never seen sakura been played like that before, what a beast.

As far as Ibuki I cant figure it out. She can vary that kunai throw alot so I dont know how to do it low how it was done to you. It seems to me if she is too low she’ll fall right into the PW. Sometimes I can make the PW miss but I dont know if that would be considered low. Either way the armor cancel into PW always goes the wrog way unless the kunai was thrown reallllly low.

Based solely on the frame data if Sakura goes for 2 shunpukyaku in a row there’s a rather large gap. Yes. A throw will work.

Lk is even on block. If you both for an attack, you’ll lose. At that range sclk won’t come out (I think) and that’s your fastest normal.

If they do another lk shunpukyaku, then you can beat it with an attack but if they don’t… Counter hit.

I think your best bet is to block or back dash. Get your tech game up son. Her offense lives and dies on frame traps and throw game.

Edit: oh. For this reason. We zone Sakura and push her in the corner. Then we rush her down.

Just watch out for her crouching fierce that has godlike hitbox. It can even hit you from behind I swear! It doesn’t even need to auto-correct because the hitbox is so huge.

I’m having more trouble vs good Makoto players than Sakuras to be honest. Makoto can be a rushdown beast in the good hands.

I’ve seen kunai being thrown when Ibuki was still on the ground. I’m pretty sure it was Sako who did it in Godsgarden tournament. I’ll try to find that video again…

So now that I got the timing down on neutral jump roundhouse to ultra 2, or even jump in roundhouse to ultra 2… I take it in practice this takes god like reflexes to make sure your opponent didn’t block it when going for the ultra 2? Is it worth using only as a gimmick/last ditch effort to get a win if your going to die to chip damage? I’m not seeing how it’s reliable. What are your opinions on that setup?

There are actually many occasions where you can visually confirm your roundhouse will hit and can then go into ultra 2. A popular setup to do is Ex-Counter, crossover, roundhouse into U2, you have to check to see if your opponent whiffs a move as you cross over though otherwise just go for a regular medium into fireball store/pinwheel.

But yeah theres loads of scenarios where its useful, ill list a few while im at it:

-Jump back or Nj a whiffed Fei Long CW.
-Jump back or Nj a whiffer Rufus Ex Messiah or Galactic tornado.
-NJ on whiffed SPD’s and Command Grabs, Abel, Zangief etc…
-Jumpin Roundhouse on misplaced Shoto Fireballs.
-NJ on whiffed Bison Scissor Kicks and slides.

You know basically anything you see that can be punished when you Neutral Jump, jump back or jumpin. The best Jumpin punish is probably J.mp into Ex-Divekick > U2 or just straight Ex Divekick to U2 if you can manage.

Another quick tip to make it easier:

Ex counter cross-up or neutral jump, then while you are in the air, buffer the QCF +HK command. That way you already have half the input down. So if your roundhouse hits, all you gotta do is press QCF 3 kicks and your ultra will come out! And if your opponent blocks your roundhouse, nothing will come out because you haven’t pressed the 3 kicks yet.

Pretty simple once you get the hang of it.
