"Mmm... You look like you're in good shape": Juri Q&A and General Discussion Thread

You have to be careful with your crouch techs in the first place and delay them slightly in case they opt to frame trap you with something like a DP. It’s a bad habit of man to do crouch teching too much and then get frame trapped into FADC Ultra but with online and the new tech timing it becomes annoying.

Anyways, I’ve been testing some of Juri’s reversal options on wake up and notice some interesting things.

I know a couple of Juri players here have been doing this but forward dash seems like the best option overall. I don’t know if I’m timing the dummy late or something but forward dash seems to dash under all sorts of jumping oki games. I notice a lot of characters being able to dash under oki games a lot lately as well and I’m not sure if it’s some change to SSF4 that’s allowing this. I know Juri’s forward dash is really nice because it shrinks her hit boxes for a brief period of time allowing to get under a lot of things. I don’t want to say this is a good go to option on wake up but it’s looking appealing.

Next best option (besides good blocking) is auto correct EX Low Fuhajin. The timing is a more strict then EX Counter Movement but it works well. Again, Juri does a low sweep for the fireball so it shrinks her hit boxes causing cross ups to whiff and then they land into the Fireball. I fully expect option selects to beat this option though so be careful with this technique.

EDIT: Yeah, I tested OS DP vs EX Fuhajin and you lose out completely.

Hmm…never tried dashing forward on wake-up. I’ll try it out in training. I usually stick to blocking or Low Kasatushi to just get away safely, but sometimes it’s dangerous because they follow up with some EX attacks that can just punish you.

Really? It’s written as 6 frames on the wiki. It feels like 6 frames. Are you sure?

It feels like 5 frames to me.

It feels like 5 frames to me as well.

Has anyone found a safe jump on all the shoto chars. i need safejumps in my game play

Anyone know of her option selects / how to do em / what they are? I used to play abel and I abused some of the simple ones.~

Also theres this match where there is this juri vs diago and the juri is holding her own… i have faith in her now…
but being camped to pieces by guile hurts my body. :frowning:

I don’t know of any right now…if there are some I would love to know as well. I typically back away after a knockdown to store up some fireballs. I’m sort of a footsie/zoning type of Juri player.

Well, I’m a Gouken player too, and one of his best pokes is his cr.mp, which is 5f of startup, and it felt faster for me. So to be sure I’ve downloaded Juri’s hitbox data and looked into it and turned out that you both were right, it’s 5f of startup. Those are very good news

Now my question is: how did Killey knows about it being 5f? All the Juri framedata I’ve seen has it as 6frames. Which is your source?

EDIT: Correction: You both were wrong :P. I wasn’t counting the first active frame. cr.mp is 6f of startup, unfortunately -_-

Yeah it’s 6f not 5f. I probably misread a line or something. lol
What you should extrapolate from c.Strong is that it has 6 active frames vs c.Forwards 2 active frames. Both are 6f startup and the range of the two moves are very much comparable to each other but as a poke I give the nod to c.Strong because its active much longer allowing you to outpoke more moves. That being said you have to apply both moves in the proper scenarios because each move has different unique properties to it.

You can’t safe jump on Ryu’s DP on his wake up because it comes out too fast. It’s impossible to truly safe jump against it.

I don’t why people are searching for specific moves for a safe jump because if you know what a safe jump is you should be able to apply that knowledge to your gameplay. To be really basic just delay your jump ins like any other safe jump.

Not sure if anyone has posted this but for FSE combos does anyone use cr.lk cr.mp overhead???
It works ok just because the overhead comes out fairly quick. but then sometimes it’ll just trade.

oh… I guess we were wrong then. :frowning:

If they block low, I’ll use it as a mix-up to connect cr.mk after the overhead and combo from there.

I learned during fse that if you do an over head after a st mp its a bit more confusing to spot. I have gotten somany over head resets with it.

yeah i try to make a lot of overhead resets but then i haven’t found a lot of normals that pull out the overhead as quick as cr.mp what are the other normals that do it?

I’m going to answer my question (too lazy to find it); but it was something in the veins:

Well, the answer is (drum roll), lag. Makes sense if you think about it, that’s probably one of the reasons the moves are so lax in the game. Most of the shit wouldn’t come out as it travels along, oh well w/e.

Why would you want to fire off an EX anything with Juri by mashing all three buttons? Her EX fireballs can be directed in any three directions just like her normal fireballs…you’re crippling the ability to spend an EX move on an instant fireball wherever you want it by relying on a 3P button to get your EX moves out. I guess it makes sense if you’re talking about mashing a pinwheel or a counter out but as far as her fireballs go, mapping HK+MK+LK to a button for EX fireball pretty much defeats the purpose of using it at all.

How would lag affect head-to-head matches? AKA playing someone physically sitting next to you.

It’s possible to safe jump Ryu. You have to have a move that extends far and retracts quickly so that your hitbox is not within the range of the srk by the time it becomes active. Juri might have one, but I haven’t tested that yet.

Not sure how useful this is or if it has been commented before but doing her light pinwheel when people are jumping at you works similar to Ken’s forward medium kick in that it moves her forward and under them and can set them up for a throw as they land. I know just doing cHP/cMP is probably better but I’m of the opinion that its always nice to switch things up.

:coffee:… lol… Thank you sir.

Wow! cant beleive people actually mash on mapped buttons… GTFO. SSF4 for you!
