"Mmm... You look like you're in good shape": Juri Q&A and General Discussion Thread

I third that. Funny how that works.
Also, thanks a lot Killey.

While I’m at it, what advantages does cMP have over cMK as a poke? I usually use cMK but I see others using cMP a lot more.

I do it more consistently with :uf::qcb:

It has 6 active frames as opposed to cr.MK’s 2. That means you can throw this out early as a poke, and the hitbox will stop anything that comes into it for a whole six frames. Also, the hitbox is MUCH higher and thus able to connect with other hitboxes more easily. This makes it a very effective anti-air as well.

that’s how you have to do it if you’re jumping forward, TK motion is the best if you’re trying to safe bait into ultra 2 since it’s only -2 on light and you can distance yourself from punishing pokes

Thats actually easier than TKCS, which is D, DB,B, UF+K
I tried using those motions before but nothing would come out, the trick probably lies in slowing down the kick part like you say. Thanks.

An LK dive is only -2 btw? Seems worse. Just -2 would be quite fine for me.

I don’t know if this has been pointed out, but Juri’s j.MP can juggle into just about anything, as far as I’m aware, including most normals.

The most useful setups I’ve found for this are:
j.MP > (j.MP >) Sweep - much like some of Akuma’s hard knockdown combos.
j.MP > (j.MP >) cr.LP Reset > Dash Forward to crossup - much like some of Sakura’s reset/crossup/pressure combos. Combine this with her Kasatushi for some serious mindfuckery.

Some less useful (but still good) followups are:
j.MP > j.HP (Knockdown, but if they’re fast, they can quick-stand out of it)
j.MP > cl.s.HP xx EX Senpusha
j.MP > cl.s.HP xx EX Fuhajin

Also!

I think we can all agree that landing j.MP xx EX Dive Kick as an air-to-air requires pretty tight spacing and is difficult to do consistently. A better method I’ve found is that if you hit with j.MP high enough, you can land and neutral jump EX Dive Kick, and it hits MUCH more easily, allowing you to combo to Ultra 2 or EX Senpusha.

The Kanta-Kun reset is the shit. I’ve been using it today and got alot of people with it

j.Mp>dash under s.lk>dash under c.lk>(combo of choice)

No, if you do it fast enough, it’s the same as the TK version.

haha yeah, it’s good. I guess people have a really hard time guessing TWICE in a row which side to block on.

Someone mind testing this for me since I’m at work. Air-to-air j.Strong, j.Strong, c.Fierce, dash for a reset. I recall screwing up my s.Fierce with a c.Fierce and noticed it still combo’d and the opponent was still high enough in the air that a dash might have been possible but not entirely sure since the recovery on c.Fierce is pretty long.

I tried it and got no love at all. You can dash after it, but you’re at serious frame disadvantage and won’t be able to meaty anything, nor dash under for that matter.

Hmm…thanks for the effort. Was hoping to get good damage and a reset off of this. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Anyone else wanted one of her titles to be Kim Chi?

If your friends have any questions they would want to ask, let them do so, regardless of how broad of a question it may be. The posters in the Juri forums are all very knowledgeable and help as much as they can. The don’t need an OP that tells them everything about the character (not to mention, everyone here is still trying to figure Juri out themselves). The purpose of this thread is to prevent spam on the Juri forums and help keep simple questions all in one thread (instead of one thread per question). Not to mention, by asking questions, they can become better acquainted with the Juri community. It’s not simply about reading other peoples findings and not contributing in any way. If we want Juri to grow, we need as much help from the community (both casual and competitive) as possible.

We have an amazing video thread where newcomers can go to if they want to check out various play styles of both casual/tournament Juri players and a combo thread to help anyone learn more of Juri’s combo mechanics. If they have any other questions or thoughts about Juri, they can post it here. It’s a simple thread. Not meant to be elaborate.

And this is merely a General Discussion thread/Q&A thread, not a Juri Guide. I don’t even know where you got the idea of this being a Juri Guide [thread]. Having a Juri Guide does seem like a great idea, but that’s best left in the future (when the character has developed enough to warrant one). Having one now will possibly be unreliable in a few months to come.

Hope that answers your “question.”

This is general enough so i can drop it here:

if you’re fucking crazy and are holding onto 3 Fuhajins to do DAT ONE COMBO, you probably don’t have enough fingers to activate FSE. Well be grudged no more, because you can do qcf-qcf+PPP all with your left hand, since you have a huge window to complete the Ultra motion. This on stick of course, pad players have it easier this time.

have fun with this piece of useless information.

LMAO

Now I’m determined to break out a camera and try to find stupid setups and combo situations for this.

Absolutely hilarious.

Kanta-Kun, I like your avatar but it should say “kimochi ii daro” not “kimochi daro” lol.

And this is why I like having japanese speaking people around. Thanks  will fix.

And you won’t even imagine the huge dillema going on in my head when I found that thing out. I was like “How does I release buttons to press other buttons but still keeps buttons press? HURDUR”

Random q somewhat on topic. What do you use to press punches when holding 1 or 2 fireballs (I’m never going to bother with 3). I usually use pointer, middle and index for l, m, and h moves respectively, so I really find it hard to, say, hit HP if I’m holding a HK fireball.

if I hold fireballs it’s usually lk and mk for hitting universally on several characters. Hit other stuff with my ring finger.

If I’m holding just one it’s probably mk, which leaves my index and ring fingers free.

Who the hell told me to use U2 as an AA? lol Never trying that again.

Theoretically it works but you won’t get good players with it. They’ll just treat you like you have a shoryuken. :<
