I still like the final version best. That second mp3 version sounds too… crystalline (though with her move set that might be by design)? And the midi version is fun, but since this game isn’t going to be on the SNES I’ll opt for the higher definition.
People are saying that the music doesn’t suit her, like Applejack’s theme suits Applejack. I’m not sure I agree with their statement on Applejack in the first place.
The fiddle portions of Applejack’s theme suit her country persona, but nothing about the character necessarily screams hard rock. I think that might be more of a fan (or more precisely, artist) extrapolation. Which is fine! The same could be said for Rarity’s theme. The piano suits Rarity’s classy upper crust personality to a tee. Furthermore, the techno beats have a similar sense of precision; but nothing about Rarity expressly jumps out and says European nightclub. The interesting part about hearing this music isn’t so much how it matches the pony, but rather how it reflects the artist’s view of a character that wasn’t developed strictly for a fighting game. That being said, the music design might lean towards the fighting style of the character, which if I’d had to guess would have already been decided before the music was requested. Think of it like this:
This character wants to keep you grounded and beat on you - hard rock
This character’s strategy is mostly zoning. She controls your movement and knows exactly when to strike from a distance - piano and precision techno
This character controls the field as well, but is more likely to teleport in and try to juggle you for big damage after some otherwise unassuming plasma throwing - music starts off very slight with some little horns and bells, but turns to powerful brass instruments when the opponent starts to get blown up because they guessed wrong
This character can traverse the screen in 30 frames (flat!). Rushdown is her name and it doesn’t matter where - fast rock, almost power metal
My only concern is with the sample clip of Rainbow Dash’s music.

The melody seems to restart a couple times in that clip alone, like it never quite knows when to get started. My natural comparison (assuming the characters would play similarly) would be Chipp’s theme from GGX2

It halts a bit too, but it finds stride and sticks with it.
And as for Pinkie and Fluttershy’s music? God only knows. Pinkie is a charge character. I want to imagine her fighting in a hooded robe outside of the Golden Buffalo and yelling ’ MAI CUPCAKE MONAY’ when she get’s KO’d. For Fluttershy I honestly have no idea. Also, I know nothing about music, so take this block of text with a grain of salt.
